I remember my first Warped Tour in like 2003. Awesome lineup, all around. NoFx (they used to be the staple for years), Rancid, Casualties, Dropkick Murphy’s, Less Than Jake, Pennywise etc. Pretty sure even Rise Against and a few other more up and coming bands like Taking Back Sunday were there that year. That’s what warped tour was to me. Even if there was, even back then, a steady lean towards more poppy punk it was still a punk gig and was a great time. Fast forward to like 2012 and it was unrecognizable. No more NoFx, no more Lars Fredrickson and the Bastards let alone Rancid. No Pennywise, hell, no even mediocre pop-punk bands really. Instead we were starting to get shit in there such as MGK and Blood on the dance floor. Yeah…I’ve looked at the lineup every year since out of curiosity and I’m surprised they’re even still a thing at this point. Pure trash with the odd diamond in the rough. 2012 was my last year and nothing has changed that yet.

Personally I think the biggest reason mgk gets so much hate isn’t necessarily because em absolutely massacred him with killshot but it’s more the way he handled that whole situation, I mean if mgk just accepted the L & moved on like a man that would’ve been one thing, but instead mgk had the nerve to go on breakfast club & say that “I had another clip in the chamber ready to go, but kill shot was a miss that it didn’t even deserve a response” which was one of the most delusional thing I’ve ever heard, especially since you could see how shook he was throughout the entire interview, plus at the time when he was opening for fallout boy & asked the crowd to flip off the stage for a picture & then he turned around & took off his jacket to reveal his rap devil shirt to post to make it look like it was his sold out show & that the fans thought rap devil somehow won an shit smfh, tbh it was all that goofy shit he pulled that made me lose respect for him instead of just killshot itself

Eminem has a classic album that sold like 30 million copies when you had to go and buy a cd at a store which is crazy. Also it was basically impossible for a white rapper to be taken serious in the 90’s when Eminem was coming up and xxl made a fool of themselves giving the Marshall mathers lp horrible scores because of that and the feud Eminem and coi lerays dad were having. Eminem died though and lost his ear when he got hooked on pills and changed his voice. Still think what him and Dre did on the Marshall mathers lp was great and the up in smoke tour is still the best rap tour/concert ever made. Mgk on the other hand was just really lame from the start leeching off waka flockas wave and never really having a distinct sound or voice.

You gotta look at the life he’s been through and understand he was trying to fit in and be something when he was that young and just completely lost and influenced. If we put a mic in any of your faces at the age of 18-23 what do you think you all were saying back then?! Think about it..we can’t all judge now because we had the privilege of growing up unknown and unrecorded..he didn’t get that chance. If you listen to more recent interviews he is a very upstanding, articulate and intelligent man.. you guys need to let the shit go that happened 10+ yrs ago to this guy who was clearly a survivor of trauma and trying to find his place in the world.. the fact that he made it from nothing (literally homeless) to something speaks volumes alone and I think he has earned a little respect and to be left the fuck alone with this stupid shit in his past…

One if the reasons for everyone hates MGK is because of the beef with Eminem and Em pretty much ended MGK's rap career, that's why everyone hates MGK.

ok saying MGKs music is derivative of early 2000s mall punk/emo is fair but saying ppl who dont like MGK but enjoy dall out boy or sum 41 are hypocrites is definitely not fair. Dudes music might be uninspired ripoffs of that era but the songs are just not up to par like not even close.

No lie, I don’t know a single mgk song. But I find it weird how people will separate artist from art with music they like, but not with mgk. I like Led Zeppelin, supposedly they were involved with underage roadies - not my problem. I like Carti, he beats women and practically abandoned his child - not my problem. They have a job, and I like them for their work. Simple as that

If someone enjoys pop punk, it doesn’t make them a hypocrite for disliking mgk’s pop punk era. Like you said, it’s a soulless album. I like some blink-182 but dislike MGK. It being derivative of punk doesn’t mean it’s the same quality. That’s like saying you liking xxx but not lil peep is hypocritical.
@Snarl6166 ай бұрын
People hate MGK because he's not a real punk rocker, he's the sellout version of rockers, he's nothing without Travis Barker, unnecessary feuds, and some of his songs are too trap-oriented and emo music tends to age immediately and badly. He deserves a bit of love, but all of the above factors make him a punching bag.

Man look I’m a die hard Em fan and MGK couldn’t have came at a better time because Em wasn’t dropping music foreal. When I was listening to MGK I had to be like 11 or 12 I just feel like if you wasn’t around for the “Lace Up” era you wouldn’t really understand how serious the movement was we was watching MGK’s vlogs and it was basically a Cinderella story with all odds against him and we seen him make it so it hit different. Once he started that rock n roll bs I stopped listening to his music pretty much right after Bloom cuz I agree its hella corny viewing as a fan seeing him be one way and then later down his career he did a 360 on us, then dissing the man who not only inspired him but also most of his fans were looking for someone that was “like” em at that time such as myself at 11/12 years old. It’s just weird to see which is why I’m a former fan also with the other weird shit you pointed out in this video (which had me crying laughing btw love the content😂)

I like to think I have pretty eclectic music taste, with a rock and roll soul. I confidently say, that no real fan of rock music considers pop punk, like Blink 182, to be "real" rock. This argument gets tricky, bc music and taste is entirely subjective. But the fact remains, and we all know it's true. Rock fans love different genres. Punk has never been my favorite, but I respect it. Green Day is original. Not my cup of tea, but again, I get it. In my gut, I felt the fakeness when MGK immediately put out the most generic pop "punk" songs, while immediately talking about being this savior of rock. You can't just throw up devil horns and call yourself hard. That's a grown man acting like me in the 9th grade. As they say in jail, "Real recognizes real." Add in MGK's creepy teen talk, that just makes him trash.

I’m probably the biggest Eminem fan you’ll ever meet so I might have a little bit of bias here, but I absolutely hate MGK too. To me, it’s bad enough that he starts unnecessary problems with people he should look up to and says things that are basically pedophilic, but the thing that really bugs me is that he never even seems to say he’s sorry even when he’s completely in the wrong. He talked about sending an apology to Eminem’s label over the tweet about his daughter, but never apologized to him directly, and also claims he wishes his beef with the guy from Slipknot had been handled differently when he was the one who caused it. There was a point where you probably could’ve hugely admired him for how he turned his life around even if you didn’t like his music. Instead, he let his rise get to his head and basically make him think he has a free pass to do anything he wants. No one is probably even going to remember him in like 50 years though, so hopefully he’ll get his own self-inflicted karma.

What I really don't like about him is not only his cocky attitude, but the fact that he never apologized for "Auschwitz" line in "Breaking News". You might say that it was censored, but only because Diddy told him to do so.

He’s always had punk music infused with rap, which is cool, and he is a talented rapper, but with all the real punk music out there that’s so much better and more complex than what he offers (from a guitar standpoint to a lyrical standpoint), it’s so cookie cutter and not pushing any boundaries which punk music is kinda about. Also, his attitude about Eminem and Slipknot especially doesn’t get him any favors from the hiphop or metal scene.

that quote about 17 yr old girls is more pop punk than anything these days. All the pop punk bands are groomers. pop punk and deathcore is all groomers, abusers, etc. The only thing I remember about the guy really is he got powerbombed by Kevin Owens on RAW. Everyone should look that up. It's a fun watch.

You should do a video on why everyone hates Nickelback. I must've missed something because they were on top of mainstream rock when I was growing up. At least MGK was someone I didn't even know existed until the Eminem beef. Nickelback had far more fame and recognition and then seemingly all of sudden everyone decided to agree that they were the worst for reasons I don't know.
