the reason why I create art | real time gouache painting (mostly)

Hello! Another week and another video! This time I am showing the full painting process of a gouache artwork I recently completed. This is both a practice painting and a finished artwork as the painting was completed on an MDF wooden board. I also share the struggles of painting with gouache, especially with this particular artwork.
AND I also share my work of the year, my goals for the upcoming year and the main reason why I create art, and why I'm putting so much effort into painting and drawing once again after a long hiatus, but also why I'm so keen to keep making videos and documenting my process and my thoughts with each artwork.

The joys of timelapse painting, getting to see all the changes in sequence for better or worse! For what it's worth, I think the face came out great in the end. I love, love, love the idea of theming your artworks and this year around "nuture." It's a great mindset to be in, and it ties into you coming back to creating art as well. Always excited to see what's next for you!

I really missed your videos ❤ And I think I remember the quote “Tell them all my secrets but disguise them” from one of your sketchbooks, at that the time I thought it was romantic and I still think that because your thoughts belong to you and sometimes you want to express them but you don’t want the whole world to know. The artwork turned out beautiful 🫶🏼 and I hope your new year’s art resolutions find their way to the material world because it is very fulfilling to see all that you’ve created and sometimes the motivation you need is from yourself, like looking back all the way that you’ve come and the future art that is waiting for you to prove you that you are capable of more 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Unfortunately I can’t post pictures in comments but just today, for the first time since I graduated high school, I picked up some watercolor paints. I used a few of your video tutorials from a few years ago, watched them, and then I created a painting of my OC. It’s not the best since I’m out of practice but it’s something I am proud of after 5 years of not using watercolors and probably around 7-8 of not making faces (they weren’t as good as this one).
