The Nintendo ambassador program is functionally a method of control over creators and influencers who shape the conversations around Nintendo products and services. They don't want the wider public to ask questions like "why was Pikmin 3 just removed from the Wii U eshop right before the switch re-release?" or "What is emulation?" They realize influencers raise awareness of these things. Ultimately, Nintendo sees guys like Wulf and Beatemups as independent voices who threaten their ability to overcharge their customers.

This podcast is actually way better than I was expecting. You guys are freaking hilarious 🤣 You guys have some good synergy as well. I have been looking for a new podcast to listen to in the background when I'm out and about running errands and going to appointments, and you guys are it! Two of some of my favorite content creators doing on together is absolutely Perfect. Subbed for sure. Hopefully this takes off and you guys will stick with it. I noticed this video exploded compared to the sub count of the channel, and the other vids seem to be doing well. Keep up the awesome work guys!

This episode was absolutely awesome! Just wanted to say that honestly you guys don't HAVE to stay on topic all the time. The idea for me is to make an episode main topic, get around to talk about it, maybe have a couple side topics in case it's a little short, then accept tangents. That's the best part about podcasts, is the flow and energy from having the hosts (and guests) talking about whatever comes to mind. So don't worry if you trail off, so long as you get the episode's main idea across. Past that? You do you!

I think this podcast is super important regarding Nintendo content. Just the honest genuine truth about the good, bad, and ugly of Nintendo by not fanboying over them as much as other content creators often do just so they can be ambassadors for Nintendo.

I don't believe there was any official contract as he didn't get paid for being apart of it, but they did take him off the ambassador program a long time ago for breaking some rule. He claimed he was going to quit making Nintendo videos after that, yet he continued to do so. Now he is claiming to be quiting them again. He is going to keep giving Nintendo free advertising even though he is no longer officially one of their ambassadors. The fanboy in him won't let him quit. Smh

He did that, and while it isn't paid explicitly, it does have restrictions to get the free stuff they give ambassadors. A lot of the reason nintendo is so successful and has lasted as long as they have is because they are fiercely protective of their brand and their image

@@golfer435 He didn't lose any free stuff. He specifically said back in that video that they agree to still send him free games to play but he won't be officially one of their ambassadors. So he didn't lose the benefits but he was upset that he lost the title. Go back and watch that video if it is still up. No, Nintendo has lasted this long because they have popular games they refuse to put on other systems. It doesn't mean their games cannot or have not been emulated by fans. There has always been people by passing that.

@@Whatsup_Abroad well Nintendo and videogames were synonymous in the 90s so whenever some kid shot his friend "after playing doom" the headlines were all Nintendo this and Nintendo that even if doom wasn't on Nintendo consoles (it was tbf). Either way Nintendo would be blamed so you can't blame them for being extra careful. The idea of videogames just being straight banned wasn't so ludicrous then in the days of video nasties etc. Their survival depended on cultivating that image. I'm not defending Nintendo, however. No-one was a bigger fan. I couldn't be more pissed off with them.

Also they don't own gamefreak or make pokemon so cant really be blamed for pokemon company/gamefreak shenanigans. A lot of people don't realise how little creative control they exert in that franchise. They barely get to touch it. They're just lucky its on their console.

IIRC Arlo was also dropped from the ambassador program around the same time as Wood and no longer gets stuff from Nintendo. It's almost as if every content creator with more than x number of subscribers was dropped within in a very short time frame. But more importantly, hey this was fun. Nice job gentleman.

Which was especially odd as Arlo NEVER does anything that Nintendo possibly dislikes. He basically only does reviews and hype videos, never doing anything like emulator content. HES A FREAKIN PUPPET. Nintendo obviously didn't cut him for content reasons which leaves doubt as to whether Wood got cut for content reasons. I think they were just thinning the program of large creators as you said.

I have a "routine" story. Every day after weights or morning swim practice, I would get breakfast. Same thing every day: a blueberry bagel w/strawberry cream cheese and a strawberry banana smoothie. There was a wrestler who worked at the place when I came in. Every day. And he never had it entirely ready for me, but he was always prepared, and would ask "blueberry...?" or later on "the usual?" No one else was ever there when I was, and I was at the time completely a creature of habit, so I never minded. That was the extent of our conversation, in addition to me saying "please" and "thank you" and maybe once in awhile "good luck this weekend". Like, that was it. At the end of the year, with maybe a month left, I went in and he asked me "the usual?" And I said, "Actually, can I get a chocolate chip bagel with strawberry cream cheese and a mixed berry smoothie?" And without missing a beat, he said "What?! You can't do this to me! You're the one consistent thing in my life!" And I thought he was joking, so I laughed. And he seemed fine when I payed and everything. To this day, I have no idea if he was kidding or serious. He seemed find the rest of the year, too, every time when I got my new "usual". But I still wonder sometimes.
