To add to Wyatts use of dark colors they are especially successful when water is clear or slightly stained when the sun is high and bright. During those times I like using rootbeer with a white tail or purple with a white tail. Thank you for the lesson Wyatt.

I've always liked silver flake soft plastics with red heads or white with red heads. Lately gold flake Gulp swimming mullet have been getting a lot of bites during the day and glow with orange tails at night , and white almost always gets bit. I just got some cheap round unpainted jig heads and they're catching fish just as well as more expensive ones, and maybe better. I like the thin wire and hold hooks and so far they're fine with 10 lb braid.

Great video! I like Red Shad and Chicken of the C in dirty water and Bone Diamond or Blue Moon in clear water. These are Down South Lure colors.

This explains why, when trolling in dirty water, our darker lures were getting strikes and the lighter colors weren't. We always run a black or dark brown lure or two when we troll in the Chesapeake Bay and rivers. Is that char available for download?

Fighting tiger (purple with yellow tail) for stained/dirty water) and electric chicken (pink/chartreuse) or chartreuse with silver sparkles in clear water. Of course, in south Louisiana, our "clear" water is probably closer to stained or dirty water in Florida.

Confusing to say the least, I'll admit one look at the Golddigger screamed Redfish to me. Talking pink lures cracks me up, you can go video to video and the 1st guy says great fit super clear water and the next is killing the trout with pink in water with 6 inches of clarity. I got some Golddiggers and F.R.E.D.s today can't wait to try them. Tight lines from the Louisiana marshes

What about topwater lures? Sunny, cloudy skies.... Dark colors on overcast dirty water and light colors on sunny clearwater situations? Thanks for your great explanatory vids
@AndreasChristouSaltwater3 жыл бұрын
Topwaters are a little funny when it comes to color selection. It sometimes can depend on the action of the top water. If the top water doesn’t really turn on it’s sides when your walking it than the only color that matters is the belly side. Since most fish are lighter colors on their stomach I like to stick to white, bone, silver, gold, or those natural skins made by rapala for the skitterwalk topwaters. The only time I think color matters on topwaters a lot is when the water is very clear or when you have a super cloudy sky. If you use an all white color with an all white sky it might be tough for the fish to see the silhouette of the top water. Especially if the fish feed upwards like speckled trout. Hope this helps Nigel

Simple rule: match the hatch (bait in the area) or just match the water or bottom color. Fish change color in an attempt to blend in and hide, thus the most natural presentation is a lure color that does the same. At first this seems crazy, why would you want a lure to "blend in" - well because that is what the predators are expecting. A bright lure in dark water just looks totally out of place, it will actually spook fish especially the wise ole big ones.

Then, all lures should be pink since it first loses its visibilty in the sea

surely it already exists but I wonder if any bait company has made a one hundred percent gold flash lure. And of course, named it “pure gold” on the package. Surely there’s a soft plastic bait company that already did that.

Z man make one called Gold Digger I think I will have to relook when I get home but they are almost all Gold Flake! I kill the reds on them in dirty water and that Gold digger works awesome in dirty water for Reds and trout. I have used them many times now and I was using kind of the same thing in the Z-man but the salt strong actually has more flake in the black making it sparkle more. Hope this helps
