Buy the Bora Portamate Speedhorse Sawhorse (2-Pack) on Amazon: amzn.to/2mIqElU
Explore the Speedhorse and other sawhorse offerings from Bora Tool: boratool.com/s...
Metal sawhorses are not the first thing many people might think they need. Eight times out of 10 you might be able to get away with wood or plastic sawhorses. When you need something very sturdy, the Bora Portamate Speedhorse is what you will grab. The Bora Speedhorse allows you to screw in two by dimensional lumber in the rails to build a platform that will not collapse. By screwing the lumber to the sawhorse, I was able to slide a tool chest off y truck and onto the workbench. After it was on the workbench, I was able to tilt it upright without the sawhorses sliding or tilting. That would not be safe, or possible, with standard sawhorses.
Beyond sturdy, the Bora Portamate Speedhorse fixes all the design flaws in other metal sawhorses. Almost every edge is rolled so you have no sharpe areas to cut yourself. You pull one lever up and they open automatically and can be set up in seconds. Each side has a handle for closing and it does not matter what side closes first. Setup and storage of these sawhorses is perfect.
Each Bora Speedhorse can hold 1,500 pounds if evenly distributed. We have lifted the front of our large Ag tractor off the ground using similar sawhorses and we have a lot of confidence in these as they are built better.
If you work alone, need a strong system for a table, like quality items or simply want the best, these sawhorses are for you. They will be there to get you through the tough situations that shop life will throw at you. The video will show you what I put them through and how they helped me.

I have the top of the line Toughbuilt C700. They(TB) have adjustable legs, the Bora don't. On the TB's you can use 4x material as well as elevate 2x material. This basically gives you the option of having your 2x material flush or up high if need sacrificial wood. I don't know, I really like the fast deployment of the Bora and the fact that it doesn't matter which legs go first... But I think the Toughbuilt in the end are more versatile.

I own a set of these saw horses, I use the regularly and love them. one down fall I've noticed is the legs sometimes bind up and don't drop with the quick release. other then that Bora is making a lot of nice useful reasonably priced construction goods!

I had both these and the ToughBuilt 700’s next to each other. While the Bora’s were much fast and unfolding and folding, I chose to keep the TB as they feel more solid to me. Didn’t have as much side to side movement as the Bora’s. If setting up is the only negative, then I’ll take the TB.

I have both types of metal sawhorses, Bora and Kreg. I think the Kreg metal horses are built a little bit stronger and have some more versatility, but the Bora Speedhorses are easily the faster of the two kinds to set up. I have a large indoor shop, but I hate to sand and rout in it because of the dust. This means setting up a temporary table outside. Usually in a hurry. I prefer the Kreg type when the set up is supposed to last for several weeks. When I combine the Bora speed horses with their innovative centipede I can be ready to work in just a few minutes.

The look dope! The plastic I use ALWAYS tip over lol the ease of opening is prob the greatest attraction to me! I was vibe’n the Adjustable Kobalts (having a height adjustment seems very beneficial!) they just didn’t open to Easy & were super heavy. I like Bora but truly $80 is way too expensive for 1 saw horse. I can’t imagine it’s hard argue that opinion? Or is it 😆 I think $65/1 is a max price. But maybe I’m not seeing it clearly.

I built a set of 2x4 apprentice sawhorses based on a different KZbinr's design. They were tested to hold literally tons of weight and were not that expensive. I modified the design to allow 2x4's to be added to make a table top support system, added some holes to hold pencils, and hooks to hold a speed square. Sure, they arent compact but you could park a truck on them and customize the height and features to meet your needs. The folding sawhorses I owned in the past broke. I'll never buy folding ones again.

You had me at "quick release". I have a pair of Kobalt sawhorses and they have worked great for me but they are a pain to set up and take down. One feature missing from the Bora sawhorses is height adjustment. The quick release would make it hard to accommodate a height adjustment feature but it has been a nice feature of my Kobalt sawhorses, as they allow me to adjust to the height of things like my B&D workmate. Very well thought out product, though. If I was in real need, I would spend the extra money.

17.9 pounds each, I don't remember if you mentioned that. I just measured the Toughbuilt C700 at 23.2 pounds. You get an extra inch of height with the C700 adjusted all the way (32 ½"), but I never used them at a lower height, so that feature is wasted on me.

You addressed these as Port-a-Mate that's a different brand. The narrow width of these make them a no go because the legs are too short. If you're having to extend the legs the quick release really isn't a factor . I'll stick with my very sturdy port a mate saw horses which are the right height and you don't have to adjust the legs to get them to a working height.

Nice horses. I personally like using the Toughbuilt c700 ones though. They are a bit more versatile, you can adjust for different wood (2x4 or 4x4), the height is adjustable, fold downs that hold a 2x4 for cutting and fold downs that hold a sheet of plywood on an angle for cutting... it looks like these are almost a knock off? Some improved features like the quick leg release and the screw holes, I noticed it had the plywood sheet holders as well but no height adjustment? Am I wrong for thinking these are a more expensive version of the toughbuilt c550? Let me clarify, these are probably really good, the plastics or wood horses suck... I’m just pointing out for other readers that there are different options for this type of horse. I think I saw them on your channel originally before I bought mine. Anyways, good review as always. Thanks!

Are these a knock off of the TB C500? I do not know. There are many more like this, but IMHO, none are finished this well. There are some rough edges on the TB line. The legs on the TB line get me every time I put them away. IMHO, I will pull these out over the TB line just because of ease of use and the screws for the lumber.

Those look like nice saw horses. I have a similar metal set that are probably 20 years old but they have no latch mechanism for the legs and you have you wrap velcro around them for storage. They also like to pinch your fingers. These look like a vast improvement. One question... when unloading that box from the pickup, why didn't you just use the tractor with pallet forks? Fairly good review, but you did not cover/mention the fact that these sawhorses have 8 screw holes along the top surface of each sawhorse. The purpose of these screw holes are as follows: The two side rails that you show in the video are 2x4s mounted on edge as the sawhorse manufacturer intended that they should be. However, those 2x4s extend 1.5" above the top surface of the of the sawhorses which leaves a gap under large pieces of work/material such as a 4x8 sheet of plywood. To prevent this, the manufacturer designed these sawhorses so that a 40" piece of 2x4 can be screwed to the top surface of each sawhorse (with the flat/wide side down) using the 8 screw holes. Once this is done, and the side rails (shown in the video) are mounted and screwed into place, one now has a flat fully supported edge surface on which to lay large pieces of work/material such as the 4x8 sheet of plywood mentioned above. With the plywood fully supported on all edges, this also makes an excellent job site work table/bench.

@@WorkshopAddict Brian, it would be nice to see if 2x4 can be attached to the tops. I like because if you use your circular saw and cut to deep then it cuts into the saw horse. My concern is after time and throwing them in the back of the pickup the metal will bend and then the legs will have a hard time coming in and out. Still looks like a great saw but time will tell.

The Toughbuilt C700 is a much better and more vesital sawhorse height adjustable, able to use either 2x4 or 4x4 for the runners without having to screw them in and it's almost $30 bucks less expensive!!!

Everything is made in china. Shit even ezup is made in china. What they do is have all the pieces made over seas and assembe it here. That's how companies are able to say MADE IN AMERICA. I was pissed when I found out about EZUP. I own 6 EZUPs.

Because the box was damaged and the truck driver and I thought the inside was damaged also. I needed to film the opening to show the damage. Hard to do in the truck. If I wanted it easy, I would have used the tractor.

I didn’t mean to sound snarky btw. Glad if you enjoy them. I just found them to be too heavy and cumbersome for what they provide. Sure they do 50 different things or whatever, but I just need them to do one thing well-hold sheet goods or a stack of lumber. And I didn’t like them requiring several different steps to setting them up or putting them away. My guys couldn’t put them up or down unless I showed them the process-closing one leg first, etc. So I just found them to be heavy, overkill, and cumbersome.

It's a good project but you could push that cabinet or pull up for in your pickup truck without that
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, could have, but you don't know the full story. The box was damaged by a fork truck. The driver and myself assumed the cabinet was damaged. I was told to take pictures or video me unpacking it to show that I did not damage it. Much easier for me to pull it off the truck and unbox it on the speedhorse. I have a tractor and forks, easy would have been using that, but then I risk them telling me I damaged the box.

To be honest it is a good Fixture but only problem is they're too short and I don't have a good back it would put a lot of stress in my back. If they would add Extenders on their feet to make it taller that be great. I'm 5 ' 11" Imagine if you're taller than 6' It will be painful. Something to think about just saying

This made me laugh. We do things completely different in the UK. Great horses yes, but anyone who uses anything like these onsite uses a cutting board under the timber sheet goods about to be cut.
