I guarantee you: every Red Wings fan knows how good we had it when a generational talent like Pavel Datsyuk played for the Wings. He was loved. He was cheered. He was cherished. Thanks for the great memories, Cheli. What a great story.

During the games you see players on opposing teams talking to each between the whistles. You see players talk to opposing goalies after a highlight save or see players say something and smile or laugh. A lot of these guys know each other and skate/train together in the off season. It would be cool to see some of that highlighted after the game. I get tired of hearing the same canned questions and the same canned responses. Chelli's stories would be awesome to hear, both with his time in Chicago, Montreal and Detroit. I hated him when he played for Chicago but absolutely loved him when he wore a Red Wings sweater.

I first moved to Detroit and started following the Wings during the 1995 Conference Finals against Chicago. I remember that the two Blackhawks I learned to hate the most were Probert and Chelios. Oh, the irony! It would be another year or two before I learned that Probert was a former Red Wing, and had been one of the fan favorites during his time here. Another year or two after that, Chelios was traded to the Wings as well.
