"Corporate sponsors didn't want to give them a chance" Business hates risk and places ZERO value on gender equality. Capitalism failed the Jamaican women's team and this is exactly the injustice and inequality that Bob spent his life criticizing through music. It's great to see Cedella carry on this legacy with the team.
@znhait5 жыл бұрын
Although I don’t like handouts, I think it’s different for a national team and Olympic sports. Unless there are benefactors are willing to invest without expecting any sort of monetary returns, those sports can’t survive.
@micayahritchie71583 жыл бұрын
I mean the issue is not about equality. There is just less demand for women's football it's not about risks to these businesses it's the fact that they almost certainly won't draw enough eyes to make it worth it. I'm not saying I disagree with your analysis of cooperate interests. You're right but also this is a demand issue. Personally, I like to watch it but it's certainly an inferior product to the men's game. I think FIFA should do something with the women's game to make it more attractive to audiences, monopolistic competition in a sense, make the game different enough from the men's game that it doesn't compete for attention. Also living in Jamaica, it's hard to convince girls to want to play in the first place which is natural since they don't have stars to identify with in the same way boys do growing up. But for the life of me I could not get a single one of my female friends in high school to care enough to actually learn how to properly pass a ball. So if there is no demand for the game because the peak of the women's game is less attractive and there is a shortage of supply, meaning we don't even get the peak women most of the time then it's difficult for any business to sponsor that
