Loving the huge Lowland revival in Scotch. Holyrood, Glasgow, Lochlea and Kingsbarn are all smashing it.

Glenfiddich 12 was the first scotch I ever had and I fell in love with it! It's so delightful!

I've always been a U.S. bourbon/whiskey drinker: Jim Beam Original, Black & Devils Cut 99%. This year, I started doing Scotch. So far, I have: The Arran 14, Glenlivet 12, Glenfiddich 12, Chivas Regal 12, MacAllen 12, and Johnny Walker gold, black, & red. I tried another one when i was in FL, but I can't remember the brand. I really like the flavors & aromas of the scotch compared to bourbon. The Arran 14 was my first Scotch.

Bunnahabhain 12 is one of my favorites. I'd not had Scotch since 1987 until about 2 years ago. I was watching KZbin and heard about Bunnahabhain 12. I took a chance and now have 4 Scotchs 🥃

Absolutely love Glenfiddich 12 and Glenlivet 12. After drinking the Glenlivet a few times in different places, it just clicked in my head that I need to add these to my collection at home. Thanks for all the great shows.

Highland Park 12 is that for me... the one that made me fall in love with scotch... that I don't have THAT often any more but every time I come back to it, it's still just so darn good.

Highland Park 18 is what make me fell in love with Whisky (and Balvenie 12 as well) Try them mate 😊

After coming back to Speyside on my scotch journey, Craigelachie 13 is my favorite from this region. *With Balvenie 12 double wood being a very close second.

This is my 'go to' whiskey. I love it! Sooooo good. Tried it for the first time 20 years ago. It's popular here on Long Island. It must be. It hard to buy it because the stores are always out of it! A month ago I was lucky to restock on the 12 and 18.

I just bought myself a bottle of Glenfiddich 15 year old Solera cask today, come home and Daniel has this 😂. Also had a fancy artwork case. So good

That's cool. Scotch was my first love. Before I discovered others, Glenfiddich was "my brand" for a while. I had a couple others but in general that's what I drank. Then I got curious about other whiskey during 2020 and discovered you Magnificent Bastards. Thank you for another great conversation...you dapper fellow 🥃

It’s also got a hint of crème brûlée from the direct fire stills, which makes it preferable to Glenlivet 12, its nearest competitor.

Great video!! Missed opportunity of having Daniel offer a geography lesson in front of a large map of Scotland. Completed by a glen in one hand and a long pointy stick whilst gesturing to the map. Keep up the great work!!

What more to say about Scottish whisky regions. Yet, you got to the point - tourism, although in Scotland it is a mixture between tourism and DOC or whatever that denomination thing is. I love the way you present things in a easy-to-understand way and I love the fact you do not reject whiskies like some other reviewers do (e.g. Glenfiddich 12). :)

Bought a bottle of each of the wine cask finished Tanmavulin releases based on your word, because I've never found an appreciation for Scotch, and I'd like to see if I can change that. Knowing at least what the regions used to stand for is at least helpful as a starting point, a history lesson and a basis to understand all of the recent changes that may one day lead me to a love for an expression of Ardbeg, which... Let's just say that's a tall ask currently.

The regions really do help you get started, but like you said, as things evolve, gets less predictable. When I was shopping for recommendations from a bartender in Oban, the regions and particular flavor profiles really helped him point me in a direction of things I hadn’t had that I might also like. …might be less valuable here in the states though.

Yes Lowlands are earthy and grassy to me. I had Glenkinchie 10 year and thought it was so so. I want to try the Bladnoch 19 year from the Lowlands. Regarding the Glenfiddich 12 year I find it so so insanely drinkable. I'll try to find that Aislay Bay. Thanks for the lead.

Glenffiddich 12 was one of the first whiskies I ever tried. At the reception for my great aunt’s funeral, one of her requests was to serve good scotch. Her other request was to serve good hotdogs so I don’t know what that tells you about her. But I love these stories about whiskies who saw a trend that was going on and just said “You know what? We’re gonna do what we were doing even harder.”

As a suggestion for a future video, you could provide guidance to simple guys like me who are in a depressed state of mind because their favorite scotches - Ardbeg Uigeadail, Lagavulin 16, Balvenie Caribbean Cask to name a few - are just too expensive to buy any more 😢

Did a Glenfiddich 12, 14, & 15yr side-by-side with a group. Didn't like 12 by itself, and certainly overshadowed by the 14 & 15 respectively. Price difference is absolutely worth the 15yr IMO.

The 14 is the bourbon drinker's scotch. The new American charred finish gives it some of those bourbon elements.

That line splits the Glengoyne distillery by the road between the distillery and the barrel houses. Fun fact

Another fun fact: The Highland line splits Arran, making Lochranza (Isle of Arran) a Highland malt and its cousin Lagg a lowland malt.

Glenfiddich has its place on the shelf because it was what got me into Scotch 30 years ago. Having had so many great whisky's over the years i find it hard to go back to it. The quality and quantity available now makes it simply not worth it to me anymore. For the same price there are so many bangers that dont chill filter and add colour...oh and are over 40% abv. Glenfiddich is great to introduce people to Whisky (with a huge cube of ice) but, for me, that's where it ends. Just my 2 cents.

I compare Scotch to Wine. It’s hard to know year to year what is going to have what characteristics. Not that it’s a bad thing, it’s just hard to discern what you may like depending on your pallet.

Both myself and family have found the glenfiddich 12 and other lower end releases having an unpleasant flavour especially on the finish. Not just a sherry funk, but actual unpleasant notes. Has anyone else found this to be the case?
