On one audio of the infamous Broadway production, you can hear a random audience member shout, "Oh, it's the pig number!" That audio is underrated!

I know I'm going to sound crazy seeing this, given this show's broadway run, but if it was playing right now in broadway, with this cast, I would go see it in a heart beat! Not a single song annoys me or anything, and a lot of them are fantastic! Linzi does an amazing job as Carrie! Thank you for sharing this on youtube! I was born in 1988, so I wouldn't have been able to go see it, so this is the best chance I have. What a beautifully tragic tale, and what a wonderful play to showcase it. Poor, sweet Carrie.

Betty Buckley's voice is much stronger and more emotional than Barbara Cook's. Ms. Cook had a very good voice but on stage,you cannot imagine how Buckley's soprano voice carries through the theater, It just sails and cuts like a knife. I saw her in Cats and Edwin Drood and her sound is wonderful.Her recordings often don't reveal the sheer power and intensity of her voice live on stage.

According to a "Cult Oddities" website that had a whole, entire section about the show, the emphasis on Carrie's psychokinesis was so slight that, to anyone that did not read the book (or watch the 1976 Brian De Palma movie, for that matter) weren't sure about what was going on.

@@keetard Also, Terry Hands did a Horrible vision of the Musical. He headed the Lighting, the Set (especially the Whit Staircase) and the Costumes. He also altered some of the things the trio (Cohen-Gore-Pitchford) had created.
@keetard3 жыл бұрын
@@midgesherwood2685 I don't think it's terrible. The lighting is done by him, sure. But it's amazing and he did get a lot of praise for that. The sets were done by Ralph Koltai. He is known for abstract and minimalistic sets. So basically, this musical is ahead of its time with avant-garde directing and design. Like some plays and opera. The directing style is surely what you'd find from Royal Shakespeare company. It's not a horrible vision, it's just too artistic for usual audiences and critics who prefer literal staging.
