And that's not even getting into potential psychosis from long term social isolation. There is no scenario where any safety officer would allow one person to be in charge of the entire mission.

It doesn't take long for humans to lose their marbles from lack of socialization. And this wouldn't just be 'well at least you can hear the people in the next room' isolation, this would be white room torture level isolation so insanity would set in way easier and faster.

I love how the ship still has its engines on upon arriving at the planet. The filmmakers never learn. A ship has to deccelerate to orbit another planet. Nothing makes it stop. If It builds up momentum, there is nothing that makes it go slower. No friction, no air, no nothing. Its just wrong. It has to fire its engines in the direction it goes to deccelerate, not in the other direction. This just makes me so angry idk why

And not only just at the planet. The ship has to fire engines in the opposite direction to decelerate exactly at the middle of the trip (given there is enough fuel in the first place to accelerate to the maximum possible speed). Which is correctly portrayed in the Expanse. So basically the ship has to have 50% of fuel devoted to acceleration for the first half of the trip, and the remainder of fuel for deceleration, which seems like such a waste, but is the only way to come to a stop in space.

@@Teleportcamera errr… not quite. it needs at least the same amount of fuel to decelerate as for acceleration… but they dont need to accelerate constantly up to 50% of the trip and then break from there. depends what acceleration is tolerable and what is the top speed they aim for. (ie what the ship can handle without crumbling) they could easily accelerate for a year, then cruise for two years and then decelerate the last year (or even 6 months if deceleration is within the comfort zone of the crew and ship) of course that requires more fuel… but also you should have some extra for anything unexpected to avoid being stranded because something happens on the way i know it’s nitpicking but if we are scolding the movie creators then at least do it with more precision than them :)

According to the synopses, the Doctor, Yoshida, and the rest of the crew didn't know that Station 42 was in the orbit of planet Rhea; and that the colony on Rhea was merely a simulation. Agent Decker, Captain Lacroix, and XO (Executive Officer) Lindbergh, were apparently aware of most of the facts. The crew (and possibly Captain Lacroix too) thought they were delivering supplies, and didn't know that people in cryogenic sleep were the primary cargo.

Totally correct. I have never understood why a colony on Mars is a good idea. If it's a stepping stone to be able to travel to other places, what difference would being on Mars make? Everything that gets to Mars has to come from Earth via rockets anyway, and the chances of catastrophic failure will be extreme and ever present. Even if they could produce factories and maker robots/3d printers etc, where would the raw materials come from? (yeah, organically grown polymers etc, but that is science fiction and still very costly and likely only a partial solution) And if it is a stepping stone to other planets, it still doesn't make sense as the necessary resources, technology, labs, testing facilities, super computers, qualified people to make affordable and safe spaceships will be on Earth. Most people do not want to live in a desert, let alone a desert on planet that takes a rocket to get there with zero chance of surviving if there is even a tiny problem, and that's just getting there. The same applies when you actually arrive. Plus, where the hell are we going to go? What am I missing? I like Elon, but is he just trying to get his name in the history books?
