The saddest part about the episode was realizing that the Entwives are potentially extinct by the time of the movies in the Third Age. I mean, that flower tree lady was right to be pissed!
@Krobra91Ай бұрын
her name is winterbloom.. her the entives had their gardens near the gates of mordor, now called the brown lands. They nurtured the earth and helped it grow. While tolkien never wrote down what happened to them, we know they didn't go extinct, most likely they were killed when the gardens were destroyed. My assumption would be that since Sauron wasn't god like enough to create, which is why he turned rocks in trolls a mockery to ents, and tortured elves to become moriandor and eventually orcs, he probably had them killed off to harness their powers and magic to fuel his own industry. I wouldnt be surprised if he used the remains of the entwives and their powers for example to buld Barad dur

@jenniferharper5236Ай бұрын
Half-Elven. I thought it was a really clever way to introduce the idea that Elrond was alone and that he had probably experienced several racist micro aggressions throughout the centuries. Like in the early eps of S1: “Oh, sorry Herald Elrond, you’re not invited to the Council-elf lords only…” Notice that all full elves in positions of power were called Lord / Lady. Elrond had access to the highest levels, but he was given the job title of Herald to justify his presence. Elrond is possibly viewed as the slacker twin just hanging out making social media posts and working as a PA to Gil-Galad, while Elros founded a dynasty upon an island kingdom, albeit a mortal choice. It makes me giggle to think about that idea.

Ok, you asked for it 😄Elrond's mother is the granddaughter of Beren and Luthien (the Elf-lady Aragorn sings about in Fellowship of the Ring). And Luthien is the daughter of King Thingol of Doriath. Thingol was a) the only guy _ever_ who was married to one of the Gods of Middle-earth and b) he was killed by Dwarves in a fight over a precious necklace that held one of the Silmarils. And _that_ is the beginning of the bad relationship between the Wood-elves and the Dwarves. Anyway....Thingol is the great great grandfather of Elrond. Legolas' grandfather Oropher used to live in Thingol's kingdom, too, but if he is related to Thingol or not is not known. The thing is, because Elrond's mother was the great-granddaughter of a Maiar, a lower rank god like Gandalf, she could change her physical form. She hopped with one of the Silmarils into the ocean and changed into a sea bird :) Elrond is channeling his mother when he hops with the rings from that cliff. Even on his costume are pattern of feathers and wings.

Another thing I just thought of rewatching part of your commentary is I feel crucial. When Galadriel gives Elrond the ring, she demonstrates that it has no hold over her and cannot corrupt her. If she had any avarice in her, or if the ring was tainted, she would have had a much harder time giving it up. It shows the 3 rings have no control over the Elves.

Guys another great reaction video. I have been reading Tolkien since 1967 and I am truly enjoying this season. One thing though, this particular barrow downs geography is wrong. The Shire cannot be near where the barrow downs are because this is taking place near Rhun, which is a great distance away from where the Shire will be established. And, the actual barrow downs near the Shire was near Bree, and contained the burial tombs of the Princes of Cardolan. And Cardolan had not been established until centuries later. But this has no bearing on how I feel about the show, which is extremely positive.

Regarding the haters of this show, when you engage with them or watch their content you notice either one of 3 things: they either didn't watch or never watched the show; or they do watch but don't pay attention or are busy nitpicking things to get triggered about; or they do watch but are too stupid to actually understand what is going on. It's very rare they have valid criticism. They claim they know the lore but when you engage with them you realize they actually don't know anything. Some were criticizing Cirdan having a beard😅😅 And they like claiming that people who like this show are pretending to like it. That's how highly they think of themselves, that they think they know what other people actually like or not😅 And then you look at the stuff they actually watch, then it all makes sense 😅😅 There's a channel called Nerdrotic or something. He has been bashing this show from the beginning till now and if you watch his videos, you notice these things and his videos are a bunch of nothingness And his sheep followers fall for it and give him views and clicks and make him money by feeding his ego and they get nothing in return. All of those channels are like that😅

Neither Saruman or Gandalf are on middle earth now so if this is Gandalf, they’ve changed the story and pushed events forward. The dark wizard is one of the blue wizards, the first two wizards to ever be sent to middle earth and the books touch on them barely but it’s thought that they both turned to darkness out in the far reaches and were never heard from again, this might be giving insight into one of them. The Gandalf thing feels like a misdirect, I’m still not sure who he is, it’s so early for Gandalf, unless they are going to make it like he establishes the shire for the Hobbits and leaves and then comes back years before the Hobbit takes place and the Lotr starts. I love the show, when people start ragging on it, bye. I’ve even had to drop watching people who are reviewing the show because their hate isn’t based on anything, or at least anything they want to say out loud because I’m finding repeatedly it eventually comes out that they don’t like the diversity in the cast, it doesn’t stick to every written word in the book, news flash no film ever done on Tolkien’s works ever does. What was interesting in this episode is that we learn that Sauron didn’t just use necromancy in LOTR, he had perfected the talent long before corrupting the wraith riders, that was cool to see. I love this show, is it perfect, no and I don’t care because it’s close enough for me.

For the 1,234,567th time, Gandalf doesn't appear until the third age! PERIOD. And where did this 'dark wizard' come from? It's always been assumed the two blue wizards came together in the 2nd age. Maybe one came before the other and went dark.

Tolkien, The Peoples of Middle-earth - Part 2, Chapter XIII, "Last Writings, p.381")
