The Ripley Space Delay Honeymoon Phase

Every time a new version of Reason comes out, we probably all go through a similar phase of wanting to use the new devices as our first-reach tools. Partially it's because we're still exploring what we can do with them, part of it's just the fun of having something new. But whatever the reason is, updates are always very inspirational and productive musical times for so many of us in the Reason Community. In this video, Ryan Harlin is dipping into Ripley Space Delay in his own music making and finding out in the process that entirely different styles and sounds can come from the Reason 13 honeymoon phase!

I also have been putting Ripley in every track since R13 came out. Mainly for the Feedback filter... it sounds so analog and dubby! The repeats transform into something almost abstract. Really, really cool to get this sort of sound out of software.

another great video. The visual representation with the bike and use of noise especially. After spending hours and hours trying to EQ out harsh frequencies in a mix, the application of noise sometimes accomplishes that task in just seconds. Is this waht they call saturation?

I love the house tune that starts and ends the video! The tune being made is rad too, and I got real Ori & the Blind Forest vibes prior to the vocal additions at the end (which were great too btw, just sent the tune in a different direction than what I lost enjoy).

Honestly I keep using the oldest Reason devices more then the new ones, I still use the NN19 in nearly every project using one of the oldest presets. The side chain tool is cool however decades of manual modulation I have saved and I just copy paste what ever modulation I want.

Will reason get a dynamic EQ with mid/side abilities at some point?

Probably not. RS usually doesn't like adding things their customers are asking for.

There are presets that do that in the mastering folder.

You can build your own if you want. There's a Thor M/S encoder patch and dynamic EQ patches already available. Just make a new combinator and put in the parts and routing you want.
