I was hoping one day there would be a comprehensive video about Oakley watches and you surely delivered! Awesome video. I own an Oakley Holeshot three hander and I’ve been on the lookout for a judge.

@@TalonSei Awesome video review on the watches. I purchased the minute machine back in 2011. I have only warn it twice, it is still in its original box. I had never owned a good watch and I had the opportunity to get this watch at a very good price. So I purchased it and I like it very much. And it turns out it was a really good investment. Cheers

This is AWESOME…. As a teen I was obsessed with the Oakley 12 Gauge watch. Many years have passed and this was a jaunt down memory lane!

Great video detailing the history of Oakley watches! I bought the brushed stainless steel model with the white dial in-store around 2013 and still wear it occasionally. Had no idea these were as rare as they are, so I guess the term "future classic" may apply. The Ronda 713 is a solid movement, with 5 jewels - unusual for a quartz. Ronda claims that hacking the movement activates a power saving mechanism that reduces battery consumption by approximately 70%, so it's good to store it with the crown out if it's only worn occasionally. Apparently, natural latex smells like vanilla and is the sign of a high quality strap, so some strap manufacturers add vanilla essence to the rubber mixture to simulate this smell...

I used to work at a local powersports dealership who was also an Oakley dealer. My job at the time was to build their eBay store, and we had an Oakley watch leftover in the case that we needed to sell since they'd stopped making watches the year before and weren't buying them back. Once I started digging into it to qualify it for a price point, I was suprised how much of a niche Oakley watches actually were. Long story short, I ended up selling it to a gentleman through eBay for I think $450. I am by no means a watch guy, but every time I handled the thing I did enjoy looking at it and feeling the quality of it.

Time tank genuinely looks pretty dope, especially if you changed the strap. I don't know what happened in the late 90s and early 00s man, but for some reason every business thought curvy lines were super cool. Its weird, considering how many amazing watches were being produced during the 20th century. Edit: A lot of the honorable mentions actually look good. Its a matter of them being priced correctly for what they are.

I would never have guessed that some of the Oakley models were so expensive. The designs are a bit out there for me, but this is the kind of interesting subject that rarely gets covered. Well done.

Nice video, I liked the D1's alot back in 2000. I must have about 8 of them still in different colors all hardly used. I did not realize folks collect these and other Oakleys. I guess I will start to look into selling mine now.

I remember going into the holiday season, maybe 2014, my local oakley store was giving 50% off tickets at the door, so I bought a minute machine, which at that time there was only 3 available in oakley retail stores nationwide, mine shipped from a Miami store to ohio, then a few weeks later, I got another 50% off at the door and grabbed a double tap. I keep them maintained and only ware on occasion, I normally keep my Breitling super avenger on my wrist, but i enjoy my oakley watches still ,I see some interesting peices on ebay from time to time but too risky for me on what you might receive working or barely working, great topic talon, longtime subscriber here cheers and happy holidays...

Earlier this year I ran across an old press release from 2008 about MotoGP rider Chris Vermeulen working with Oakley to design a signature watch, but couldn't find any information beyond that. Probably a long shot, but did you run across such a watch during your research? Great video!

It's pretty common for rubber straps to be vanilla scented. My Marathon TSAR strap and a Bonetto Cinturini strap I have are both vanilla scented.

@@TalonSei That and there is a big community of collectors dedicated to all things Oakley, especially of items prior to it's sale to Luxottica by Jim. His boy started a new eye-wear brand last year, so perhaps he will dip back into the watch game at some point in the future.
