The main thing is that the malayali audience are so matured and they respect different genres of movies. So the producer believes in such quality audience and invest money rather than going for big budget or star movies! In mollywood ,content is the king!🔥

@@WranglerDudethalliyatha, sathyamaan that the Malayali audience is known for its appreciation of diverse and meaningful cinema. Unlike some other industries where star power often dictates success, Mollywood places more emphasis on storytelling, social relevance, and innovative narratives. This encourages producers to focus on content-driven films, as they trust the maturity of the audience to support quality over spectacle. As a result, Mollywood has produced numerous critically acclaimed films that have gained recognition both nationally and internationally.

@@NoisyLeSec-ue9hc No one’s debating the quality of Malayalam cinema. Everyone has started enjoying it and the point being we should be humble about it. Under literally every such video, Malayalees flock to bleat about the greatness of their cinema. Its cheap, pompous and hellishly cringe to toot one’s horn like this, which is a display of pathologically low emotional intelligence en masse. Have you ever seen Americans or Koreans or anyone else for that matter patting their own backs about their movies like this? Take the high road so that others are not left with an unpleasant aftertaste.

The TRUTH is that in Malayalam Industry - has never looked at Bollywood and thought we need to make movies like that in Bollywood. The proof is in all the history of all Malayalam movies made all along. Malayalam industry has a healthy competition within the same Malayalam industry. They only make movies for the culture and sensibilities of the Kerala audience around the world.
@augustine76
@augustine76 6 күн бұрын
I don't think that is completely true. May be the influence of Bollywood was not much but Malayalam cinema was definitely influenced by Tamil Films. Till recently, almost all of our films too had songs and dance. We were never good at either one - our songs are not catchy and our heroes can't dance. Poor dudes, Mammootti and Suresh Gopi spent major part of their career trying to do something they simply can't and looking incredibly stupid while trying. Dancing is a part of life in North - they dance during most celebrations while we Malayalees never dance. Still, it was only recently that we realised this is not something we are good at or a requirement. Good to see new Malayalam movie makers telling a story like it should be, without adding cheap Masala.

I do agree Malayalam films got lost in some sort of popularity situation for a couple of years ( exactly what Kamal Hassan sir mentioned in an interview about Malayalam cinema going through dark years and had lost it’s grain) But the audience made sure they got back on track as all superstars in Malayalam were doing badly or dud movies. But before that and after that story of the industry has been rewritten. But never has Malayalam film industry tried to emulate Bollywood. That’s a strong feeling I have and I might be wrong.
@joelmathew8747

About the whole song and dance situation. It’s actually not Bollywood who started song and dance in their movies but Hollywood who had them during an early era and they moved on… all of Elvis Presley movies and a whole bunch during that era. Sound of music is one popular one. Bollywood and other Indian industries happened to not move on and the whole song and dance situation stuck on and a whole industry now thrives under the guise of song and dance.

Malayalam movies are made primarily for the Kerala audience. Most of the movies here follow the logic in story. If you watch RRR, Pushpa, Kanthara like movies they sometimes apply illogical scenes to attract mass audience, and make money and successful in that attempt. But here in Kerala, there is an inner competition within malayalam industry in this art form, where whoever brings forth better cinema will get that recognition in the society then they know money will come. This is luckily possible in Malayalam industry due to its audience. Whereas in other languages, most of the audience only know '' entertainment " and expect such acts from hero, directors are following that.

Malayalam movies have a foundation of a very strong literature basis which was explored and debated over decades through their books and news publications. Malayalam newspapers were the most read in circulation for the longest time in India. And then just like in west bengal, literature was more explored from all across in the last century. The literary works were widely read and debated due to a more literate and more exposed population compared to other states. This ensured that quality content was adopted for movies and then more original content made into scripts even when not many literary content was published. Malayalam audience doesn't appreciate mediocre content which came out more during 2000s trying to copy the Tamil and Telugu hero driven massy movies.

The main highlight of Malayalam Industry for decades is screenplay writing belongs to directors perception not for stardom.There borns well made no compromising stories in to the visual world. Stars and heroic market in bollywod have the capacity to win the economic success though the screenplays and freedom of writers and directors is still less valued through the making process. Bharathan, Padmarajan, KG George like directors in malayalam industries made their trademark movies in 80's and 90s were remarkable just because people rush to theaters not only the stars in the movie more precisely it was either A Bharathan Film, A Padmarajan Movie or a K G George Movie. 🎉🎉

Sandesam 1991, it's political satire, comedy. Malayalam movie story telling was always literature based, local situations, local characters. Music was melodious, classical too. All the aspects of life and philosophical too. And, whenever they tried to ape others, viewers rejected. So, they had to cater to local people's taste. Even trying to ape Tamil industry sometimes, with over the top expressions, or movie sets, where always been rejected by local people. Because, they wanted all geners but, what they can digest. Over the top, too much superficial etc, don't interest majority viewers here. Though, there was a time, when people loved a sad ending. You will see lot of old movies with sad ending. The joke was, if people don't come out crying, then , not good enough 😅 The only thing now i feel bad, is the complete takeover by leftists and mayancherry mafia. As far as, awards go, Malayalam fulm makers always used to bag lot of them. Budget used to small, but direction and skills, best in the business

Film making ,acting ,etc OK even all other lang is much better ,now story wise,logic malayalam film Is not the ultimate,some films run on some emotions, after all cinema sycess to a great depends how these emotions shown in the believable way,and it's own ethnic natural way,now emotions fr cinema mainly love ,tragedy ,anger,sorrow ,comedy,this can be sub divided,and now here some parental emotions is shown and they sympathize on it and connect to the lives ,now logic yes some films to some extent but mainly it is the emotions that is connected, unlimited gun being kept in open that to the bullets ,here grandpa very strict and organized, once a accident happened,again the same gun is kept in an early accessible manner,not under lock and key ,nxt the department just goes with the medical,what about the bullets ,here and in all films the intelligence of the depatrnt is zero,in dhrasyan film same ,the dead body is hidden in a police station nxt the father gets all the bills frm the hotel the hotel and other not cross examined the police is shown as zero,here the dir takes the emotions of the audience and he knows they will fall fr it and he wins and collects, thus us cinema, we were far behind Hitchcock or others,still we kerala have some intelligent cop films ,after all it is just few hours,i love comedy made well
