Very interesting and a little scary! What a lovely boy Jacob is. And for all of those commenting on the bread, as Phil said, he’s friends with the owners and I am sure he will have checked with them what he’s allowed to eat before giving ☺️

Aww Jacob is adoreable. I am so glad you mentioned those paddles, I wouldn’t have known that and put them back down thinking it was someone being naughty so another lesson learnt, you can tell I am new to lots of things. The flooding has been awful this year in most villages and this is so good for us to see on the canals and rivers before we finally start our dream of CC next year along with the lovely rises that will hit, from CRT, eeeekkk

That was a lovely lovely vlog Phil. When those fields were flooded, the scenery was stunning. Horses are lovely aren't they, and Jacob is just such a cute character. So what did you used to do at Blenheim Palace?

It seems like England is really suffering with floods. I don't recall this happening so frequently. I've been to England 55 times and know its rains but not to the point of flooding like it has been. Glad your safe. Jane, Philadelphia

Nice video. We've been through Pigeons lock quite a few times but never seen that path so we'll take a walk down there next time. A few years back we were at Aynho, Belchers lift bridge when there was quite a flow off the flooded fields across the towpath and into the canal near the lock. We were waiting for the level at Aynho weir lock to drop so we could get through to Nell Bridge. The river fell quite a few inches overnight and we were able to continue. The Thames was on red boards for some weeks after that.

A lot of the Rivers in the UK have dedicated flood plains (mostly fields) to stop towns and villages getting flooded. When the latter does happen it's either because of a breach in the river banks - or, more likely, local councils no longer clearing the drains! Canals weren't cut for leisure cruising.

Hi Phil, a brilliant vlog!!! Thanks for introducing us to Jacob, what a lovely friend to pass by on a walk. Fascinating river to watch and amazed at how much in a few days it rose!!! Glad the canal is staying at a normal level. X

@@NarrowboatJourneys That must have been fun to work at such a place, at least at first...You could announce to friends & family "I work at the palace!" I watched a show about baroque architecture and art the other day and it had a segment about Blenheim. Would be so fun to see in person!

It may be hard for Jacob to swallow dry bread. Maybe he's trying to moisten it with saliva when he does that.

Having lived in Tackley, I know those paths, Pigeons Lock and Flights Mill very well (it was part of our family dog walk). As you know, flooding is very common there and it can be quite dramatic, particularly on the mill race and the main channel. I didn't know there was an eel trap, though.
@NarrowboatJourneys

The eel trap hasn't been used for many years but the remains are still there.
