The OG! I was so happy the algorith served up new Ginger Runner content. Caught up on your GNGRBTS 'I'm Back' video, wishing you and Kim all the best. Keep the content coming, Ethan, and a speedy recovery for you too.

I've owned these since May and here are a few impressions: - Nike's ATC outsole sucks when you're used to mostly Vibram from either the Zagama 2 or brands who mainly offer Vibram. ATC feels quite still and doesn't really bite into he terrain like I was hoping it would. - I can attest the forefoot feels plenty wide, but shallow as Ethan has mentioned. - I find the REAct foam to be plenty bouncy while walking, but kind of flat while running, if that makes any sense. The toe-off is sharp on V5 when compared to other versions, so when you're walking in them, it feels very abrupt. - I haven't noticed any issues with lacing as they feel pretty secure, fit-wise. - I chose the black/white/gray version and I get a lot of compliments on them when walking around town. Had Nike went with Vibram for V5, I think they'd "score" much higher than they do now. As per usual, Nike's proprietary outsole sucks IMO when compared to Vibram. I saw a leak of Nike's trail offerings for SS/2025 and it appears a majority of their trail line will incorporate Vibram, so I hope this is true.

I'm glad to see your reviews starting back up! I don't have this version but I've been surprised by how much I reach for the Peg Trail 3. Very comfortable and if it's a fair weather day I'm very happy taking them anywhere. Something for just my specific feet that I noticed Nike does, the inside of the toebox is soft material. A lot of trail shoes irritate my big toes with a harder underlay. Anyway, the music you just released has really added enjoyment to my trail runs lately! Thanks!

The Peg trails has been hit or miss with me over the years. That said, I love this version! I just ran 19hrs at Indiana Trail 100 in this shoes. I found it perfect for dry, non technical trails. I tested the ultra fly and really wanted to like it, but couldn’t get the fit right. The Peg trail however fit like a glove and toe box very accommodating. Extremely comfortable for me. I never even had to re-tie them for the entire 100 miles. My new go-to shoe for groomed dry ultras (wser included).

I have three pairs of the previous version, that’s how much I liked them. one pair is just an everyday walker and two are my weekday runners. I switch to something heftier on weekends, but these are great especially for traveling where I just have room for one shoe and don’t know if i’ll find trail and road. big fan of pegasus trail, curious about the new version, but have plenty of miles left on my others.

Got the 4s in Gore-tex. Quite enjoy it and the "runability" is pretty good. Quite smooth, but not much pop as Ethan says in this review. Grip okay, but have had a few skids on wet leaves etc. So am looking for a gore-tex alternative with more pop and grip. Nice review as always 😊!

Drop, wet grip? Those are some critical items I don’t think you mentioned…

Perfect road to trail shoes, ideal for this time of year on the UK. The reactX foam is awesome not yoo soft or girm. A gteat everyday shoe, managed to get mine half price too 🎉

Pros: Very comfortable, midsole has decent squish without being mushy, very smooth ride and transition. Negs: The midsole and outsole is quite malleable so it does distort in more harsher terrains (not designed for this) Overall feels like a fun and versatile shoe for door-to-trail, as a trail daily trainer, beginner trail shoe, walking shoe, or casual shoe. It's not a racer, all-mountain shoe, or ultra shoe.

Hi i just got them. First impression after 10k at 4:50 with 300m climb in recovery run. I feel they are a bit heavy. really stiff in back foot let's see after fews run if they are more comfortable. It's not made for run at 3:30km... and the drop is amazing for big climbs but downhill you can't let go because it's hurt the body directly. Stability is not the best especialy near the hanckle. they are amazing in grass after rain. No bounce so it's only a recovery run shoes for me. I am a big fan of the ultrafly and they should do another version of it with the same grip that's have a strong durability and can be use in more weat condition.

I'm curious to see if the grip has gotten any better. I had a pair of Peg Trail 3 GTX that first scared the bejesus out of me when I had to do a little rock scrambling. No grip at all on _dry_ rocks.

They are not bad, but seemed to fall into the same use category of occasional run that’s light trail and I want something simple and different, but eventually it turns into just something casual comfy to toss on and go to the store in. Pretty much same story as every other peg trail version I have, yet I keep buying them.

Still an hard question: peg trail 5 are bettere than zegama 2? Otherwise at this price could be better also the peg trail 4?

Hey. Im assuming this review is 1:1 applicable with the Pegasus 5 GTX except that it is also waterproof? Sorry for the lame question, im new to running.

Hey Ginger, you are missing the grip! Nike finally made rubber that works on wet rocks. This is major update. I finally don’t need my Salomon’s when it is wet or raining. Still you will miss Salomon Sense feel when trail gets technical. Pegasus Trail 5 is soft and gives nice ride even for longer distances but on technical trail it a bit wobbly and doesn’t give you the support. But I think it is impossible to have those two in one shoe. Anyway Pegasus Trail 5 is major update to my Peg Trail 5: cushion is better and new rubber with improved lug pattern is big improvment. With these shoes I can run anywhere and any path. Pegasus Trail continues to be my only training shoe. I have many shoes but I always choose Peg Trail. But in trail ultra races I still choose Salomon Ultra or Ultraglide shoes. Trail races here In Finland are pretty technical and also wet. So Salomon gives that extra security and sense to ground. Colours I agree with Ginger Runner - awful or just okay. I had to buy that light green version. It was on sale 100€. It is okay but too light colour for trail shoe. I like bright colours. Pegasus trail 3 had great colours but now it is just this light 90s colour. In the real 90s they had much more colour - this just faded version of 90s. Hope it won’t last for long.

I ordered a pair in my normal size and couldn’t get my foot in. Way too shallow even with the laces removed. Much worse than the Kiger and totally different to the previous version.

What about the grip?
@kimaboeАй бұрын
If they are using the same rubber as the Peg Trail 4 GTX, which improved from the non GTX version, it is decent, but not great. However, these aren't for rocky or root'y trails anyways.
@RowOfMushyTiTАй бұрын
It's not as good as Vibram obviously, but it's decent enough. Previous Nikes were as bad as PWRTRACK.

I’m so tired of people complaining about a shoe that has a lower volume. You realize some of us have lower volume feet. You shouldn’t be saying that it’s a negative. You should just be saying that for those of you who have wider or higher volume fee it might not work great for you.

The peg trail 5 are absolute scrappers compared to the peg trail 4. Owing both, the peg trail 5 is a massive downgrade. Avoid

Check out VJ maxx2 that's even better than Vibram. On Mission Grip, La Sportiva and Asics Grip are also very good.
