The Rock eventually became the bad guy again when he went Hollywood in 2003. This feud culminated in an amazing match at WrestleMania XIX. They would have went back and forth. Austin staying would have split the crowd, because when he left Rock only had HHH to deal with and there's no way the crowds are cheering HHH over Rock. With Austin, it's not so cut and dry. Even as a heel in 2001, he was still mega popular when Rock came back.

A lot of people were against Stone Cold’s heel turn and hated it with a passion. Me, personally enjoyed it. For me, a heel turn is enjoyable if the character differs greatly than what the wrestler was like as a face and Stone Cold went from a rebellious figure to kissing up to Mr McMahon (a man he previously disliked),making me want to see Austin beaten up each week 😃😃😃

What would have made the drama to the wrestle mania 19 match more epic is if it was built like A loser leaves town match in the main event. Everyone would have naturally thought that Rock would have lost because of him going away to do more movies, so imagine the stunned look on all the fans when Austin got beat one, two, three. The byrate could have been bigger because it was Austin’s last match, But Austin wanted to go out his way, can’t really fault guy at least he did the job on the way out.

What if Austin never retired from his neck injuries and Rock never went Hollywood? Imagine that. If Austin wasn't injured during 2000 they would've had a long feud and if Rock never went to go filmed the scorpion king in 2001 another feud there. Outside of the WM matches, Backlash 1999, Rebellion 2001, and the steel cage on raw they never had a long feud but still a great rivalry

Unpopular af opinion. I think WM17 is their weakest Mania match. The buildup to it was the best of their 3 feuds. But the match itself quickly just devolves into a hardcore match with a bunch of brawling and weapons and blood and not nearly enough real wrestling that both of them are capable of. Nevermind the garbage ending twist of the match. Personally, even though it's Austin's least favorite, I like their WM 19 match. I don't think Austin gives himself enough credit just because he was recovering from being dehydrated the day prior But I think they put on a great match full of personality and great ringwork. No interference, no special referees, just the great one and the rattlesnake going 1 on 1 at the biggest show of the year
