Some tips for driving faster on the track Never hand over hand unless absolutely necessary Keep hands 9 and 3 almost all times Lock arms when making turns instead of taking hands off the wheel Try and make the tightest part of your turn hit the apex and roll into the throttle easier when accelerating out Shorten up your braking zones and keep them as straight as a line as possible Shift gears less and find the right gear/gears for the track for each car. Racings fun have a blast love your work been following the 4 Rotor since damn near the beginning

US has a very deep history when it comes to cars that are above the level of a bang and bucker, basic V8. Every car that had more than that has been demonized by the lazy mechanics and rumor mill without a single clue to reality. This engine can be very reliable, if it has the exact amount of care put into it, so it's not for every Joe at the bollocks mechanical shop.

Rob I love your cars, and you build and I've been a long time fan. Armchair racecar driver opinion here, but your gears always seem so short in the 4 rotor, and I feel with longer gears you'll be able to get into your throttle sooner without having to worry about oversteer, and then you'll spend less time between gears getting into the corners.
@griffinfaulkner3514
@griffinfaulkner3514 Жыл бұрын
With a transmission geared for road racing, you want those gears as close as you can reasonably get them while still having the car drivable at low speeds, at least with a full sequential setup like he has, to keep the car in the power band as much as possible. I think this is more a case of him not really having the throttle control to manage the absurd amount of power the 4-rotor can make off of corners. Increasing the power sent to the front wheels would solve that issue, bit right now he's got a staggered set of wheels on and he doesn't want to send too much power to the front out of fear of cooking the AWD clutch pack.

@dooby1445

Certified dumbass here, torque is torque regardless of how it’s generated. As far as I know, his rotary still holds 90% or more of its torque from a reasonably low RPM all the way up to redline. What 3000-4000 RPM? That’s still cruising RPMs for a rotary.
@cyber1nix

@@griffinfaulkner3514 I understand road racing would call for close gears, but do we not feel that a 1200hp 800ftlb car that operates mainly on the track...is more of a proper track car? Duuuuuude, I would love to see you get a quick-steer kit for the C5 so you could power through those little add-end kickouts! not like a crazy 65+ degrees angle kit, but more like 45-50 degrees of angle vs the stock
@LifeInJambles
@LifeInJambles Жыл бұрын
Yeah, for sure "mess up ackermann" is definitely an application-dependent judgment, most big-angle kits are intended for drift where your ackermann needs will be different from track ackermann most of the time. Some corners (especially long, fast ones) actually benefit from negative ackermann which some drifters prefer though, so idk maybe not so different in all cases?
@von...
@von... Жыл бұрын
@@LifeInJambles in my experience zero ackermann on most cars make them feel very 'fork lift-y', in that they dont self-steer as much when drifting & are horrible if you don't also mess with caster to dial in the feel, but you can throw backies & the car will hold angle without pulling you into the inner corner as much. But yeah, mainly what I meant by saying "mess it up" is"'it doesn't cause a significant average ackmann delta* vs stock when compared to big-angle kits vs stock" * = Average value of |stock ackermann angle - modified ackermann| throughout the range of the suspension's motion

A small suggestion, that steering wheel doesn't suit your steering ratio for the tight cornered track use you are putting it to. Pause at 12:59, you can see you get to a point where you need to overhand and re-grib the wheel, but with a flat bottom wheel doing that (Me personally anyway in my vehicle with a flat bottom wheel) its super uncomfortable and scary when you have to grab the flat side of the wheel in a fast reflex driven maneuver. Try out a full wheel, I bet you will prefer it :)

If it's all (you're just) relying on wifi it can be so easily disabled by a $20 wi-fi jamming device, when you have $100,000+ behind your doors it's not a matter of if, but a matter of when some professional crew will jam it, walk through the door, and swipe your stuff... I really hope your warehouse has some kind of backup system, ideally one that uses cable, telephone and satellite for fallback so you can at least be alerted to anything funny going on, ideally on a secondary power line / ups supply not affected by basic jamming tools or power cuts!!!!

C5 Z06 is such a great platform. It checks all the boxes without adding any unnecessary tech (weight). Yes the leaf springs are ass and its a older car so all the bushings need replacement. But what you guys did with the suspension is the right way to make a C5 z06 an amazing drivers car. The weight reduction off the front (and repositioning further back) from the rotary is truly special. There are many track tuned, very good c5 z06's out there but yours is probably the only one with a rotary.

Emilia Hartford vs Rob Dahm. Phoenix VS the Aurua. This needs to happen. I also want to say I love every single thing that's coming with these vehicles. These badass machines that just need more and more time on the circuits. Also. If the 4 Rotor when it goes to SEMA which it better when it's finished, doesn't get a Gran Turismo award I will chop my copy of GT7 in half.

Hold up , 28:25 Did you just say perfirm 👌🤣 , loving every bit and really proof in the pudding to what you guys have accomplished by just physically pushing limits , learning from it and actually applying that knowledge correctly to real world scenarios , very rarely that it would be more dramatic seeing the outside view of a car going round a track , seems so well set up and very controlled driving aswell in the POVs , not just the cars doing the work and effortless driving doesn't apply here so don't get yourself down by saying you could go faster with a better driver , possibly yes but you know that it just takes some time to learn a new field of expertise and can bet that there would be a lot of driver experience needed to even be driving half the way you are bro , so definitely think you shouldn't give yourself bad credit for saying yeah I'm not much of a driver 🤣 , anyway , can't get enough of your content man , you deserve a dedicated series like the kind top gear was back while I was a teenager ,use to sit all day binge watching

You could use the temperature controller on the dash for a boost wheel. So you can change the power ond the track without programming

Isaiah, i've got a mission for you next time rob hits the track. TAPE HIS HANDS TO THE WHEEL Shuffling the wheel like that on a track is the best way to not be prepared for sudden under or oversteer. Come on y'all should know by now. Not trying to be annoying btw, i just want to help you guys to be safe on track, starting with the basics: adequate hand movement. I'm loving how the cars are turning out, you just need to tighten that nut 18in behind the steering wheel.

It's funny how he built the 4 rotor awd to beat the McLaren and now the project that started as kinda goofy and not-so-serious Rotary Corvette is actually the closest to beating the McLaren :D. But I'm sure the 4 rotor will get there eventually

Man, IMI is my home track for Moto! sad I didnt get to randomly run into Rob. If you're ever in CO again, I've got a house 12 minutes away from IMI that has plenty of space for a trailer if you need a spot to store it overnight!
