My brother died, horrifically. A while after a close family friend recounted a few months before when he had said aunty, listen to this song. It resonated with him and where he was in his life. Amazing. Your song will resonate with me forever.

I love this song and I voted for it, but - was very shocked that it took out number 1!
@billyjoseph32599 жыл бұрын
+Rachel It was probably a 4th or 5th pick for a lot of people, sheer number of "eh, I need something to vote for" votes sent it to the top.

Just coming back to appreciate during this strange time in Australia. Lockdowns are starting to feel like a hoop.... just going around in circle each time, continuing to do the same thing. On a side note though: that drummer is faaarkin' smooth.

Like the song, but wondering how it took out 1st place? Didn't know this song was that popular. Ah well, I do like it ☺️
@dannyd6199 жыл бұрын
+southern cross tattoo I feel that unlike Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala etc, The Rubens didn't really have any other songs from the album to pinch votes off! Still a great song but

+aussie bloke yeah I get what you're saying, your logic makes sense...but it still puzzles me how it was Hoops that was number 1
@Jalegre9 жыл бұрын
+aussie bloke While I completely agreed with you, King Kunta wasn't played on typical radio stations, firstly because of the language and second the content. I have a feeling even some of the listeners haven't heard TPAB fully nor know the full meaning of the song. I like hoops, but is a super safe 1st place, King Kunta (I can use many songs in this instance) took the cake in many aspects, it's funky, it has a meaning and people get down with it. Even though Courtney Barnett didn't take first place, a song with similar delivery did.
@Jalegre9 жыл бұрын
+aussie bloke completely agree, Kenny has done big things in Australia to my suprise, it just shows how diverse J listeners are. But yes if only J listeners voted I very much doubt hoops being number 1.

+NickB33 popularity, alot of people voted for it, so it went to number 1. simple answer for you there
@CRAiG1255ps39 жыл бұрын
Look back at the past no. 1s over the years, it's always been that way.. The Rubens got heaps of radio play across all stations, I think that's what gave it the push to the top in my opinion
@Barncore9 жыл бұрын
Craig Denton I think it's more because they only had 1 main song for people to vote for. I.e. Tame Impala's voters were stretched over multiple songs, etc
@CRAiG1255ps39 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats true as well But i think they had 1 more entry?

+justice4germans.com not every song needs a hook. I'm guessing you're just upset that "King Cunta" oops i mean "King Kunta" came in 2nd. If Hoops is rubbish, then King Kunta must've already been taken to the tip with the rest of the rap trash that 2015 pumped out en masse
