The plants in this film reminded me of plants that were found by explorers in HP Lovecraft’s Mountains of Madness. It has also been two decades since I’ve read the story so it could be false memory. Also, this review was 100% unadulterated pure gold. You were on your A game.

I *wanted* to like this movie, but it's so hard when everyone in the movie are so very unlikable!!! The ONLY one I liked was Dimitri and they killed him off! Anywho...Love your reviews as always!! Wow. So I just finished reading the book and came to this video to see if the movie version was worth checking out. There was a ton of differences from the book including who dies, how they die, the ending, characters, etc. though what I wasn't expecting was the movie cutting out the hand motions from the guy that originally found them. He originally pointed a gun at them and was yelling for a bit. Then he motioned them to leave by pointing the gun at the exit before Amy stepped in the vines and then the other locals showed up.

Honestly if a plant evolved to enjoy human flesh, it wouldn’t be crazy for something like this to exsist. I’m not sure about the noises, but pretty much everything the plants do in the movie are done by plants irl, though to a lesser degree. Some species of plants can grow very quickly, grab things, move, and they communicate with each other. It’s not super far fetched to me, except for the mimicking part.

i have many gripes with this film, but one of the ones that bug me the most is a lack of origin of the plant-monster/organism itself. they should have opened with a scene of ancient mayans practicing human sacrifice to 'appease the gods' and like, have them worship the plant as basically a deity of sorts, feeding it humans to consume, only for it to spiral out of control resulting in them eventually quarantining the plant in the temple by salting the ground around it, and then cut to present day by the pool. also, some of the characters were quite insufferable... especially Eric... it should be illegal to cope to the amount that he does... like he can literally see the parasite moving around inside his gf and he's like "its okay, you're fine"... like dude...

I thought this movie was interesting, but I will never be silenced about how absolutely absurd it is to try to lift someone who broke their back by their shoulders and feet which caused more pain than good. They should have lifted him from the middle with both of them on one side, making it easier for everyone involved. I have a hatred for this movie just because of that fact alone

I liked this movie but I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong with it. Like you said the acting is pretty solid but the girls are annoying but the guys are pretty annoying in equal measure. The do-gooder med student guy is a little too perfect, and doofus boyfriend a bit too doofus. The body horror really got to me when normally I don't mind gore.
