Marth/Lucina are fun until you play against actually good characters and realize how trash they are. Cloud and Mythra forced you to play so slow you might as well have been playing ganon. Everytime you pushed a button you got punished for like 35%. This is YaBoiobZ BTW (obZ). Not sure if you remember me from your streams back in the day. Havnt tuned into streams in a while but I always check you out on KZbin still.
@MreSSB4 күн бұрын
So I think Marth and Lucina do have to work really hard but I don't think they're bad. I missed a ton of punishes that could've really won me games and vs someone like Sparg0 those missed punishes can look 10x worse. Also the homie Obz I do remember you it's been a minute!!! I appreciate you still checking in on the content bro! 🫶🏾🙏🏾. But yeah, I feel you though for sure. Lucina gets destroyed for not playing basically perfect is how I see it
@kylecouture19174 күн бұрын
@@MreSSB yeah it just seems like mythra gets garunteed 40% punishes while lucine gets 1 up tilt for 9% and then immediately has to make a read to maybe get to 18% lol
@lokks21302 күн бұрын
I can understand Marth, but Lucina has all the tools needed to succeed. If Roy's a 9 Lucina's an 8. Most people just play solid and very neutral based with her, not going for anything crazy. Which is fine, but it makes it easier to get cheesed and you miss opportunities. Proto knew she could do more. He played in a pseudo-rushdown fashion and was the best Lucina player by far.

Keep in mind that this is online so the gameplay is gonna be slower and you can't react as fast or do all the stuff you want to do offline. Marth and lucina are not that bad.

@mikeisfineКүн бұрын
It really feels like Sparg0 is just playing a different game. His option coverage and advantage state is wild. Even if you adapt and try to change a habit, he reacts so fast. Something that I was noticing, which I could be wrong about, I'm just a mid level casual afterall, but it seemed like Sparg0 rarely did any panic options. He seemed relaxed and reactionary in his playstyle the whole time, especially in all those ledge guards. E seemed like there were quite a few times he would air dodge in anticipation of a move that Sparg0 wasn't making and it would burn a resource too early
@MreSSBКүн бұрын
Yeah exactly. He's playing at a different pace that I am and I need to work on that for sure. When it comes to certain times when I'm air dodging I often feel it's a 50/50 and I'm opting to more so airdodge, like the moment I believe he f threw me, waited out my airdodge & spiked me haha. If I don't airdodge I might get faired sort of thing. I should probably be ready to eat the potential fair though as long as it doesn't kill type of thing. Tricky but going to learn it!

It's very good to play against a player like this. Not only you learn to play against the best cloud, also learning from your habits, like those rolls after the opponent comes off angel platform is really insighting. Or those neutral airdodges after a grab (pyra) then spiking you. Not sure what you could've done different there. Not pressing any buttons result in forward air of pyra connecting.

100%!! & yup it's so tough. Maybe an up b tbh! But that just seems very risky haha. I gotta see for sure

You're a great player, E. Have you ever considered changing your main? Maybe to Roy or Fox? I think you'd be great with them
@MreSSBКүн бұрын
I've considered it, but I came to the conclusion that I don't believe my true goal in Smash is to just win. I value winning with the tools I chose in the beginning moreso. I have no doubt that if I switched mains to even Roy or Pythra I would do better, but learning Lucina and winning with her, even if I don't win or place in the top 8 of majors as much as some others, I feel is worth it. As of right now at least.

Use de counter bro, why you don’t use it
@MreSSB4 күн бұрын
I noticed that I could've done it vs Pyra I believe but not vs his Cloud really. What moment do you think I could've used counter?
@TOOMUCHDOGz4 күн бұрын
@@MreSSBI’m not the same guy, but I’m gonna try to speak as a fellow Lucina main, and my training partner mains Cloud. The cloud matchup is definitely frustrating, since a lot of clouds moves actually beat out lucina’s which is rare to experience as a swordie. Because of that and his fast frame data/low lag means pretty often you have to take multiple defensive options in a row (as opposed to avoiding one attack then counterattacking in other matchups). Cloud mains know this tho, so as a result they’re gonna swing or press a button more often than not. I saw some situations where you juggle spargo at a low percent, he (like my partner) would do an aerial out of disadvantage. This could be a time to counter, but tbh I think it’s better to flash shield to go for a parry
@TOOMUCHDOGz4 күн бұрын
This is only my take as just a locals player, but to me the cloud matchup hinges on edgeguards, since cloud effectively is a better swordie on stage, but Lucina has better offstage game
@MreSSB4 күн бұрын
@@TOOMUCHDOGz I appreciate this insight a ton homie, thanks for this insight! I feel like going for counter is very risky after a juggle situation but I should experiment with it more especially if I really feel like he will swing. It's definitely a tough MU haha. In terms of the choosing two defense options I definitely get that too, it's tough. I also realized there were alot more moments where I could have up b'd vs both chars but I missed them unfortunately. I will win one of these sets soon! Thanks again!
@TOOMUCHDOGz4 күн бұрын
@@MreSSB of course! And yeah the idea of countering after a juggle is risky for sure, I was mainly just trying to justify the first guy’s idea of countering - the real use of counter here is moreso based on developing a feeling of when your opponent is going to press a button, but you already know that as a top player lol. I have a million thoughts about the cloud matchup that I’ve come up with over dozens of sets with my buddy, so idk if you have a disc or anything but I’d be down to share them, but no worries if not. Love what you do Mr E, keep it up!
