I have had the pleasure to hear Dr. Pitre presentation on Confirmation before. Something that is missing in this presentation is to account about Ananias. Was Ananias who prayed for Saul of Tarsus to be filled with the Holy Spirit also an apostle? Acts 9:12, 17 - "In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight. (...) Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, 'Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.' "

This may be a valid question but the encounter may not be necessarily about confirmation so it cannot be used as an argument against it..? St. Paul might have received confirmation on another occasion (not anymore mentioned in the Bible).
@paulmiller34694 жыл бұрын
To add to Jarold's comment, remember too if this was to be a Confirmation (something I had never considered before), it's not a question of being an apostle but rather having apostolic authority. Deacons don't have that authority, though I would suppose Jesus (who selected the Twelve) could extend that authority how He pleases. The Church obviously doesn't have the Twelve in the sense of this world any longer, and it has said that all who are ordained bishops have the same authority, as well as the authority to send priests out for Confirmations (when no bishops are available; busy time of the year for bishops). So, if this was a Confirmation, I wouldn't deny the guy Jesus sent to do it had apostolic authority.

I was thinking, how wonderful it would be if a Priest was available to answer questions in a small group. At least in my Diocese this would be physically impossible since the population here is 75% Catholic and the Priests have too many duties and too many people. This format sure makes it easier to learn more about Catholicism without putting too much of a burden on our already over whelmed Priesthood. Thank God for You Tube and other venues. And God Bless our Priest and lay people who dedicate time to these short lessons, especially during Covid 19.

Then the godly will SHINE LIKE THE SUN in their Father's Kingdom. Anyone who is willing to hear should listen and understand! 13:43 Matthew My heavenly Father honors my Mother Mary as himself, and I do the same in return. God has given us laws to follow, and when obeyed their purpose serves to live in harmony with each other. And I know it is important to love him with all my heart and all my understanding and all my strength, and to love my neighbors AS MYSELF. This is more important than to offer all of the burnt offerings and sacrifices required in the law." 12:33 Mark Setting limitations serves to avoid harm, and inflicting pain is what my law serves to prevent. If I wanted my children to suffer, and die I wouldn't bother giving them rules at all. It takes time to explain how certain behavior will lead to unfavorable results, and I know when someone crosses boundaries, and takes what does not belong to them it will create a conflict. We have gained enough wisdom from historical record to know every merciless dictator who continues to justify inflicting merciless torture targeted at a certain class of people will be shown the same treatment in return. Drafting first born sons to die torn up like an animals in brutal war taking turns fighting, and killing each other is an embarrassment, and defeats my whole purpose. Setting a bad example for others to follow the cause of separation is when my role in the family structure is dishonored, and my body removed from the trinity. So if you break the smallest commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God's laws and teaches them will be great in the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 5:19

Ruben, the Catholic Church has from the start been in accordance with Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, as interpreted by the Magisterium. Of that, we don't need any 'confirmation' (not to be confused with the Sacrament of Confirmation, which we do need, as the people of this Samaritan town also needed).
@rubenmartinez43464 жыл бұрын

How do I answer evangelicals who say 'see, the Holy Spirit does not come at baptism' but only by laying on of hands?

Salonsar War Jesus says to "baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit". Also baptized by "water and the Spirit".

Can someone answer this? So why does the scripture says "spirit had not yet fallen on them" even after baptism. You may show me other verses where holy spirit is indeed present in baptism. Then why does the scripture tends to contradict?
@RayCamachoOMG4 жыл бұрын
Scripture will never contradict itself. As the video shares, there is an outpouring of the HS at Baptism, in Confirmation, there is again an outpouring of the HS. The video does cover this and explains it well.

Is this the main fault with charismatics? ....The laying of the hands are usually done by laity and not by priests which has the potential to impart evil spirits? I realize that group is loaded with other faults but I’m curious about this in particular. Thanks

After the death of the apostles the true Christian congregation became apostate. Baptism with Holy Spirit indicates a choosing to be a kingdom heir. Pentecost 36 CE saw many being chosen when these were baptised by Holy Spirit. It is not every Christian's lot.

That would mean you are an apostate since your tradition descended from them. Doesn’t make sense to say something so silly and utterly unsubstantiated

@@user-fb2jb3gz1d : 2 Thessalonians 2:3 tells us that the APOSTASY will come. Verses 6,7 tells us that the apostasy was already active. But was under restraint by the Apostles. Once they all died, Satan took over the running of the Church. That is how Popes, Cardinals, and other regally clad Priests came to exist calling themselves Christian.
