It's a loaded question... How much will it take to keep Darnold? Will we be able to afford it? Will McCarthy have another setback? If Darnold leaves via Free Agency, then obviously it's 9. But if he wants to stay and we can lock him in for 3 years, then 14. But what about Daniel's? Maybe he wants to stay and help McCarthy.... Like I said, loaded question.

I think they should keep Darnold if they make it to the SB at all. If he's good enough in his first year to make it to the SB, he's worth the millions it'll take to keep him.

I am a hawks fan, but also a Darnold fan, since I watched him at USC. So I watch the Jets, Panthers, 9ers, and now Vik's youtubers over the years. Viks and Panthers fans (not owners) seem to be the most optimistic and chill on Darnold. 9ers and Jets are the impatient crews. The 9ers SB window is gone; Purdy can't carry a bunch of old highly paid veteran teams always injured with a weak arm. Hope Darnold stays with the Viks; KOC has done the best job I seen, even removing his hero-ball bonehead tendency. Rather have Darnold than Geno Smith on the Hawks, so I don't have to follow other teams, haha. I like the deep ball and Qb scrabble (russ had it once). Vik's weakness is the secondary on defense and running game on offense. Running teams can control the clock and the game.

I am a firm believer in the Green Bay Packers plan when it comes to Quarterbacks it's been by far the most successful way.With that being said it's 14 for at least one more full year . The. Year 3 for JJ might be time for him to start

Its Darnold's job to lose. We don't know if JJ will be fully recovered, but it was Darnold's team from the beginning until JJ was ready. If JJ is ready and plays better in preseason and camp then reward him. Right now I'm not ignoring what Darnold is doing. Its his until JJ beat him for it.

I don’t see a world where we can sign darnold for another 2 years, he plays next year while JJ gets some reps in, then if darnolds production diminishes JJ can start the following and darnold is a solid back up along with Jones

I'm definitely enjoying this ride. If you had told me we would be 10-2 and fighting for the number 1 seed for the playoffs back in July... I'd have laughed and called you special. I'll wholeheartedly admit I was wrong. I am that from time to time. I think we are going to tag Darnold after this season or give him a 2 yr deal then trade him either halfway through next year or at years end for a haul of picks.
