I've been watching the Spurs since '73. My friends Dad was one of the original shareholders. Used to watch the games from 4 rows up at the jump circle. Great games and great times back then. The Arena was a great basketball venue, loud as hell!! It's a shame it was torn down.

Especially is ARod takes ownership. Rumor has it he will attempt to blow up for a rebuild just to have a legacy. Spurs FA is insanely crafty. Almost criminal what they did to ATL. Especially if the pick conveys into a top 15 pick.

If Castle improves his shooting percentage about 25pts per game, it'll be okay for the Spurs. They'll be able to hang on to any team, even as early as this year, especially at home.
@axolyn45042 күн бұрын
I'd say much more than just okay for the Spurs. If Castle becomes a real threat offensively (especially with better shooting), then he's a freaking Jrue Holiday on steroids, an allstar player at minimum. His defense was already considered his very best skill even before being drafted, but man, nobody expected him be that good so early....

Adding CP3 was a wonderful thing. Castle is a great draft. Wemby will become one of the greatest ever... and Spurs have so many nice picks in the next seasons : they will get one or two more gems to the roster. Hard to imagine they won't be one of the very best teams in the league very soon.

I guess it's a part of the deal : CP3 will play as long as he can then teach to the young players and finally coach the Spurs as they become a new dynasty.

Keldon need to be traded. He is a liability on defense and he is not even playing good offensively shooting just 43% from the field and 28% from 3 to even justify keeping him on the floor. It is unacceptable for a 6th year player to be this bad. Castle is a rookie and playing way better than Johnson is.

Many teams would have misused Wemby, putting him under the rim and giving him too many minutes too early. Getting the 1st pick is well, doing the right thing with it is another.

They still need better players around VW-Sochan-Castle to build a contender. But this is a great beginning. Depending on records, Spurs could have 2-3 lottery picks in the 2025 draft. The core they will build around is VW-Sochan-Vassell-Castle + two lottery picks. GM screwed up not taking Dalton Knecht with the #8 pick in 2024 draft.
@hugobenito63715 күн бұрын
Drafting Dalton Knecht would have been an awful decision. First off, he is 23, which would have made him one of the oldest spurs players even though he is a rookie and has no nba experience, he is also a very weak defender, which is completely against the spurs way of playing, also, if the spurs had to cover the salary an 8th overall pick gets, they wouldnt have been able to sign either Chris Paul or Harrison Barnes, who are key pieces for the development of the young core. The 2025 draft is much stronger and has a lot of interesting wings, all of them better and younger and with a higher celling than Dalton Knecht. It was a great decision by the spurs' GM.
@LeviAndFriends1114 күн бұрын
@@hugobenito6371that’s it Benito 100%. And if we want to afford 2025 lottery picks to pair with Vic/steph/Germs/Dev we need $$ I think we will keep Barnes and or trade for more role players while adding 2 in this draft Then we will look to fleece SOME of our picks for another dynamic 6th man if our guys don’t pan

We don't need any more bad defenders. Most other guys on the roster are bad defenders. We do need some other ballers, however. Many of the guys on this roster will be gone in the next two or three years.

Most of your analyses are pretty good but Benito is right about this : if they got Knecht, the salary cap would have been a problem. CP3 and Barnes give a lot to the roster and Spurs wait for the next draft to get better than Knecht.
