I was at my friend David Roth’s home. We were 9 years of age, and we decided it was an appropriate thing to crack open a steel can of Budweiser so we could pay a proper farewell to the King of Rock-n-Roll. Well, since neither of us had tasted beer at that point-in-time, needless to say, one sip was all we partook of as we paid our respects and promptly pull all of our Elvis LPs out and stacked them on our turntable-it was a sad occasion that was followed by a fantastic celebration of his life. ✌🏻

I was 12 years old, visiting my grandparents in Mesa, AZ when Elvis died. I vividly remember hearing the news on the radio as we were driving to go play putt-putt golf. Grandpa was driving his '72 Mercury Marquis, my dad in the passenger seat and me in back. I had been "testing" the cigarette lighters in back and burned my finger really bad right before the radio guy said Elvis was dead, so it was a very memorable double-whammy. Interestingly, I also remember riding in the back seat of my parents' '65 Bug when I was 5, crossing the Golden Gate bridge as the sun came up over the Sierras when the AM radio announcer said, "The Beatles are back together again, and here's their latest single, 'Here Comes the Sun'."

He definitely loved them .. he used to fly to go get his favourite sandwich…..I was 6 in 77 and I cried my heart out when Elvis passed and I was changing my daughter’s diaper /nappy’ when Princess Diana died…both changed the world in different ways… felt globally……ps love banana fritters, like pineapple fritters…battered and deep fried

Love how you think outside the box when cooking and not only made banana fritters but you straight up went with cornflakes for the crust.
