A year into the civil war in Sudan, the humanitarian costs have been staggering - but the news coverage has been minimal.
A conflict on this scale should top the news agenda but it has been relegated to the back pages - in part - because of what is happening in Gaza and Ukraine. And it is increasingly difficult to deny that the lack of media interest in this war comes down to where it is being fought and how it is understood.
Contributors:
Hager Ali - Research fellow, German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA)
Kholood Khair - Founding director, Confluence Advisory
Matthew Benson - Sudan research director, London School of Economics
Yassmin Abdel-Magied - Editor, Eyes on Sudan
On our radar:
Silencing the voices of dissent at United States universities over Israel and Gaza. Producer Tariq Nafi reports on what that says about freedom of speech in the US.
Poland’s media revolution
Restoring the independence of state-owned news outlets in Poland has not exactly gone according to plan. Producer Ryan Kohls on Donald Tusk’s media overhaul in the country.
Featuring:
Daniel Tilles - Editor-in-chief, Notes from Poland
Dorota Nygren - Journalist
Maciej Czajkowski - Deputy director, TVP
Michal Adamczyk - Former head, TVP

It's simpler than all of that....when Bashir was in power, the RSF received payment through the National Treasury, and the the General was payed through the Department of Defense...the problem started because the General became in charge of both institutions as head of state and asked the RSF to become part of the National Armed Forces as a way of solving the payment problems....but there's also the Libyan RSF...but altogether the issue was payment between the DoD or National Treasury....over the course of the years news and World leaders have put new spins on the issue

It's not surprising to see this civil war which was anticipated to last a few days or weeks has gone into it's second year with no attempt or sign of a cease-fire. When the East African Community attempted to hold peace talks, they surprisingly showed their favourite side of the two factions and that was not the leader in power but rather the RSF boss, which angered the incumbent Sudanese leader who protested accusing the East African nations of double standards. I agree with him. This war has lasted longer than expected simply because the rest of the world prefers the RSF over the Sudanese Armed Forces. It's so disgusting to see the pretense of the so-called UN and their egocentric dominant funders who pretend to be concerned about the humanitarian crisis around the world.

She’s saying that people believe that what is happening in Palestine has eclipsed the war in Sudan because they’re occurring at the same time, but the war in Sudan started 6 months before Oct 7th, so what was stopping everyone (media etc) from covering Sudan in those 6 preceding Oct 7th.

1. Boko haram has nothing to do with Sudan. 2. Palestine suffering from foreign invaders whereas Sudan suffers a civil war. How much a foreign media can influence it to justice? The potential is more on the side of Palestine. Atleast it is not funded by foreigners' money (despite its citizen's unwillingness) to kill, unlike it is in case of Israel.
