Definitely. There's a video I love watching of a woman having powder foundation custom blended at a department store in the 50s. The lady mixing the foundation kept looking back and forth between the customer and then putting in a little more peach, a little more lavender, a little more mint green. I never realized that all those 'color corrector' shades are just the shades that are already in the foundation.

I work at a makeup store and have tons of experience with color-matching since I’m a weird shade myself. There’s literally no way to shade match someone if they’re not physically in front of you. I have to ask people how their shade changes through the seasons, i ask if they deliberately tan at all, I look at how their tone changes in different lighting, I look at how their face/ neck/ upper chest skin tones all look together, and I use all of that to make decisions on what shades MIGHT work. Then I have to test the shades on their skin because everyone’s skin is different and every product is different. You have to have training to know how these work. If you put a neutral toned concealer on someone who is naturally more rosy, you can make their skin look dead. A picture won’t tell you that. Someone who doesn’t have actual makeup experience and training with colors won’t know that.

They have completely invaded the makeup groups on social media. They prey on beginners. Also, if you are a brand built on customization, why wouldn't you let your representatives customize their kit for their potential customers? That's more matches for higher sales. If I wanted to target women of color who typically have challenges finding matches, I would want to customize a kit for a wide range of tones that would give me the highest amount of potential matches for this demographic....so gross

I bought a palette after a very insistent person messaged me. I’m tanned in my pfp but I’m very fair and I have pink undertone, they colour matched me to something yellow and way too dark , everything is too dark in the kit I purchased and I was told that if I didn’t like it they could exchange it but the “artist” was so pushy and tried to persuade me that I looked way better , way more alive , with darker makeup. She complained that I wasn’t going to like the light shades , she was right because it was light yellow when I received it. When I got the light shades they were patchy so she said that it was because it was too light and that was my fault and that I didn’t know what I was doing because I refused to buy the brushes. It’s wax based so it’s not very pleasant to wear or work with. It didn’t mesh well with my own products , high end , luxury or even drugstore so she tried to push me to buy a bunch of blushes that would be of “better” quality than my favourite ones. I was told to not wear my primers and my prep creams were to blame. It was a terrible experience and it was so expensive to be treated like I didn’t know anything and had no idea about trends or what looked good. She even tried to use the fact that I’m a Chechen living in America as a reason why I’m not up to trends… they turn on you as soon as they have your money. It’s the last time I give someone a chance when they message me to buy their garbage.

I truly dislike how MLMs tell their victims that they can have LOTS of downtime for life and family (unlike normal, 9-5 jobs); but once someone is in and not making any money all of a sudden they're told that because they're not hustling 24/7 they're a failure!

Then this video popped up, and wow I was right. Apparently I have some sixth sense about MLMs. Maybe because so many of my friends and family have joined them at some point or another that I just know the signs and am super wary. Also had a boss try to convince me to buy a starter kit for Young Living, and I was just mind blown at the audacity because they knew how much they paid me and yet still expected me to blow my entire paycheck on a starter kit. People often overvalue numbers as objective, but they aren't, as we can see from your discussion on averages. I follow a KZbinr for years. I loved her. She was a doctor. But lately in the last few years she has been doing some shady stuff and supporting this brand is one of them. People spoke out about it and she just basically brushed it off and said she liked it and that is why she was using it. But it’s so shady that she was shilling this product when she already has a lot of money.

I thought this brand was a scam because my mom bought a bunch of it. She always falls for these scams because they prey on insecure women who think a new product will fix their insecurities. I’m so tired of this with her and her constant shopping

I’m sorry you have to deal with the constant MLM invasions. But, I just want to pop in & say that I’ve been where your mom is. I haven’t fallen into MLMs a bunch, but I’ve spent many years using shopping to cope with my insecurities & I can promise you, it’s much, much deeper than just that. It took me a long time realize what I was doing because in my mind, I was going to feel happier & more secure if I bought this item & that item, & since I didn’t have the funds to do that growing up, it felt so good to go shopping after I just spent a week at work being miserable & hating myself. Retail therapy is real for many people, but the problem is that it’s a quick fix & not a solution & when you’re a mom, you spend 99.9% of your time focusing on your kid(s), keeping the household running, keeping bills paid, a partner if you have one, dealing with whatever & whoever at work, & more, so having something like shopping that makes you feel confident, happy, and like an adult who isn’t going crazy, can really seem like the perfect solution. & This isn’t exclusive to rich people because I am by no means rich, but I did learn how to get whatever we needed/wanted on a very tight budget. However, like I said, it’s just a bandaid & since no one ever talks about it & “retail therapy” is HEAVILY pushed in women’s circles, it can be very easy to quickly get lost. I say all that to say that, while I don’t know your situation or your mom’s, I do hope that can help give you some perspective. & It is possible for us to get better, lol. I may have read into your comment a bit much & could’ve just been projecting, in which case I’m very sorry, lol. But, if I related to your mom in any way, then I hope it helps you maybe slightly understand, but also maybe it can help her see it too, because she genuinely may not even realize it or may not realize that it’s a legitimate problem more than just “retail therapy.” Whatever it may be, I wish you both well!

14:40 “average seint artist makes $2,629.32 a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. upline georg, who has hundreds of downlines and makes $4,383.56 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

I looked at their website, those pans are ridiculous in price and you get like VERY LITTLE PRODUCT in that little pan!!!! I'd rather spend $60 for 2 full sized IT Cosmetics pressed powder from QVC....lol... Used it for years and it works for me and lasts forever!!! I buy concealer, primer from drugstore.... Better products than this company!! Makeup looks too cakey to me!!!!🥰❤️

So a tin of Seint highlight is supposed to last 4 months at $16 a tin. My math comes to $64 a year , so seems to comparable as far as price point that you paying now.
@brendaradziwon-zapora4450 Жыл бұрын
@@shannonfloyd5998 I'm not talking about highlighter I'm talking about pressed powder foundation. There is no way those lil azz tins of foundation would last more than a month... It's wayyy overpriced for foundation that you use on your full face... Something like highlighter or concealer you use much less so that may last longer.... I just think it looks awful, cakey and there are soooooo many brands that are better out there for much less money . And your not supporting the awful way mlms take advantage of people.

I had a friend selling this back in 2020 and I had purchased a pallet from her. The makeup was decent but too many steps for me, however I continued using their lip & cheek product, really liked it until I discovered quite a bit of their product line has talc in it!

Oh no! Are you allergic to talc? It’s in so many cosmetics it must be hard to avoid.

Yes finally a video on this mlm I've been waiting for someone to do a deep dive on it. I almost got roped into it but I was hesitant when I received the sample and I just did not feel it was that amazing as they said it was to thick and would not recommend. I also didn't have the 300$ for their starter package no thank you. So happy I didn't do it.

I just took a few of my favorite eyeshadows and dug them out of the old palette pan into an empty pan ad added isopropyl alcohol. Press down and dry. It’s great for keeping a color but trashing the palette. I never thought about just pulling out the pan! But I love the idea. Those full palette things are interesting but I prefer the characteristics of different company’s products.. so never bought into this type of product. I also did MLM for a short stent. Buy in was like $25. But I just bought products at wholesale cost and quit. Bet they hate that, but they got their money
