Loving the series and it’s making me interested in trying to get back into nuzlocking, I’ve nuzlocked every game from xy to SwSh a couple years back and want to try a rom hack nuzlock soon. Does anyone have any recommendations, I’m thinking Blaze Black 2 rn but I’m not sure on the difficulty

i’m nuzlocking radical red right now and it’s a ton of fun. not sure how hard it is compared to blaze black 2, but my best run has been to the 6th gym and i’m not very good lol.

Renegade Platinum and Inclement Emerald are good place to start nuzlocking rom hacks imo, they are challanging enough to be a step up from regular games, but not so hard that you'll be stuck early game forever. Blaze Black is one of the very old ones, and while it's not bad, it's pretty unpolished from a nuzlock perspective.

Well the full VODS probably show calculations and breaking down the fights. It also probably has witty banter and some story telling and him talking to chat while brainstorming about future fights. If he posted those then I doubt many people want to watch a 10 hour+ long video and if you look at how long he’s been playing that’s 90 hours. that would be 9 10 hour long videos. and I mean if he does these short videos excluding a lot of the brainstorming and only shows a few fights each video. then he can easily just make more money by posting more content at his own release schedule. It just means consistent ad revenue and more money for him. it also allows us the viewers to skip over the boring calculations and brainstorming to watch the crazy fights.

Protect mons are sometimes kept underleveled because they bait kills in double battles

More complex than that, in gyms you can't predamage like you often see in other fights so baiting moves is harder with higher level pokemon. Keeping them underleveled can help in gym doubles as much as regular ones.

How it affects the AI in Double Battles is insane. The AI prioritizes Killing if it's faster and sees its moves can kill, so with Iron Ball you control who the opponents will attack.

basically because of that reason - you're tricking the AI into thinking you're worse off than you are. more often than not you never take a turn with whoever's holding it, it's just there to bait hits because the AI thinks it can outspeed

I’ve wanted to know if there have been any rom hacks where devs would add more complex AI scenarios. One I had an idea for is when the AI sees a kill on your Pokemon. If your Pokemon is within kill range, is slower, and excluding cases where the Pokemon has abilities that absorb damage like Sturdy or Ice Face/Disguise, it will random move or switch. The moves it will randomly select are only ones that will benefit it if you happen to switch out. For instance the AI won’t use Protect or Endure, but will use moves like Swagger, Double Team, or a coverage move. This makes it so it’s a gamble, like with real people, as to what the AI will do next. Do you want to bet on them using a killing blow or gamble on them “overthinking” and using something that they don’t cover for. Stuff like that where the AI will act more like players.
