If they made a movie about Toby being the strangler, this is how I’d want it to be: Flenderson Robert Dunder and Robert Mifflin met in a Cmpus in 1949 and decide to start a company that sold brackets for construction. It eventually grows to be a paper product company. Tobias Flenderson, born on February 22 1967. He grows up to be a Father at his local church but abandons his life to be with Kathy Becker. They have a daughter who they name Sasha. Years later they divorce when Toby finds Kathy cheating on him with his old friend George Howard Skub. This leads Toby to have an undying rage for him. In 1972, Mifflin kills himself with a gun due to depression. Michael Scott is hired as Salesman for the Scranton branch in 1993 by Ed Truck The company owners try to get rid of the older managers until Ed Truck threatens a lawsuit so they drop it. Ed Truck retires in 2001 for unexplained reasons when Tom Peets threatens to snitch on him for not listening for depression complaints and not caring for the company. Michaels Scott becomes Manager in 2001 replacing Ed’s position. In 2001, Micheal Scott set up a recommendation box where his Employees could tell him anything. Tom puts in a slip of paper that says that Depression should be helped. Michael never opened the box until a later year. Tom Peets kills himself in 2004. Opening the position for Ryan Howard, the temp. Tom was Toby Flenderson’s best and only friend in the Office. So his loss caused a huge downfall for Toby. Tim’s suicide leads the PBS Camera Crew to record the office to see how they deal with the loss of a former employee in 2005. The office apparently didn’t show any remorse so the PBS people decide to switch gears and just record their lives. (The Office series happens) Toby grows a crush for Pamela Beesly, but after she starts dating Jim Halpert, Toby tries to tell her that he likes her. He unfortunately does this awkwardly and runs off to retire in Costa Rica. A few months later, Toby injures his neck and suddenly SNAPS. Toby goes on a killing-spree and strangles a ton of people and takes on the name “The Scranton Strangler.” His first target being Meredith Palmer’s neighbor, he chose her neighbor to go first because he was George Howard Skub’s brother. He is unfortunately caught by Creed Bratton who doesn’t snitch but holds it over his head. Sabre buys Dunder Mifflin Toby Flenderson gets caught during one of his stranglings and goes on a chase with the Police. He stops at an apartment complex. The entire office watches the News as this unfolds. Toby decides to call his desk to confess to everyone about the killings, his crush on Pam, everything. But Kelly Kapoor hangs up. Toby chose this location for a reason, his wife’s boyfriend who she cheated with lived there. George Howard Skub. He pounds on his door and drags him out in a mask as he somehow gets him arrested and charged. Toby attends the Jury on the case of George Howard Skub who is proven guilty for Toby’s crimes. A few seasons later, he tells Nellie Bertram the whole story. He doesn’t mention that he is the strangler however. He just says that he believes George is not guilty. Toby then goes to the prison where George is held to confront him. He tells George that he was the Strangler and that he framed him, probably adding onto how he took his children away and this was a sort of karma . George snaps and attacks Toby by strangling him. This only makes him seem more like the strangler and is executed at the end of the year.

I believe that since the strangler’s car was at Dunder Mifflin at one time, it was George Howard Scub going to meet Toby because he decided to become toby’s accomplice in strangling. But Toby was only using Scub to frame him as the strangler, maybe getting George to take up a strangling job when he knew that authorities were near by looking for the strangler, or Toby could have told the police himself that he saw the stranger (George) near where they found him. Also if creed is too scared or worried to blackmail Toby then that means something.

I believe Toby is as the huge amount of evidence just screams Toby and I think the biggest pieces of evidence for this is the whispers. Toby shares the creep element of Gabe just in a different way. Gabe is very openly creepy and fits the role too and I feel Gabe would be more of a copy cat killer than the one who inspires others. Toby fits the role of the quite white kid perfectly and the video the office KZbin channel also just adds more and more evidence to the overwhelming pile of evidence

@@ravenpaw7665 It obvious that the show writer is using Toby as the red herring for the real scranton strangler. @ravenpaw76655 жыл бұрын
I believe the strangler likes the idea of making them suffer and dragging out the deaths. If he were to Stab his victims he would tie their legs together and pin them to the wall with knives in their hands. He wouldn't be the one to add the final hit, he would let nature run its course and let them suffer. Strangulation allows him to not only fulfill his creepish pleasures but also either wound them for life or be the indirect cause of their death. The man convicted for the murder could have been the one calling Toby wanting to insult him and threaten him for framing him. I believe Toby would be the type to have lots of dirt on people and so he was blackmailing scub and when scub didn't follow through with something Toby wanted, well, we see that. If Scub was the real strangler then we wouldn't have Toby in the condition he was in during the finale, we either wouldn't have him or we would have a Toby unable to move his neck.
@menoguchi5 жыл бұрын
While the comments above make total sense (nice theories!), I just find hilarious that he doesn't kill. I think there wasn't a real reasoning as to why he got a death row - it was convenient for the plot, and it's a sitcom. Rules don't apply. In fact, it makes the whole situation ten times funnier.

In the episode “conflict resolution” Toby had to check the handbook for all sorts of problems to dispute. It seems strange that he immediately knew that strangling wasn’t a violation of the code of conduct. To know that something is not in a certain book (like there is no rule about strangling) he’d have to know the handbook inside out. And he didn’t. The conclusion being that he just knew (or focused on) an awful lot about strangling.

Some other notable moments are when Toby climbed over the gate when everyone got locked in the office (after putting his hand on Pam's leg) and when, during Pam's wedding, he confessed to feeling guilty in church. Shortly afterwards he talks about doing anything to feel good and that he would "chase that feeling". So let's say the Scranton strangler started earlier than season 6, around the time Jim and Pam got together (which notably Toby was in denial about for a while) and then really took off after they got married and then had Cece. All of this would point to Toby finding a way to take out his emotions about Pam.
@bobbobert9379 Жыл бұрын
Yes. It's Toby trying to release his emotions over his rage at how his life hasn't gone his way. His divorce, working for a man who hates him, his unrequited love for Pam and subsequent embarrassment, his attempt to flee it all stiffled by a neck injury, and punctuate by Pam marrying Jim and having a baby with him. Strangulation is a crime of passion. Toby is full of passion and emotion but must keep it inside because he's the hr rep. Strangulation is how he lets it out.

@@tay-sw5wh The thing is The Office characters are so overcomplicated and over the top for the sake of comedy, it's really hard to label them in any way. Most of the time Michael is acting like a textbook narcissist, but sometimes he's this sweet selfless guy with pure empathy, genuine care, and kindness. He is mostly a moron without any clue, but occasionally a self-aware genius. Dwight is another example. You may think he suffers from some wariaty of autism, as he seems not to understand basic social conventions, but then again when he wants, he can get very subtle social cues and communicate just fine. It's hard not to analyze them this way, but I think the writers wanted us to think of them as just weirdos, who chose to be the way they are, rather than mentally ill or disordered individuals.

@vndrew7844 жыл бұрын
I'd like to add one man into the equation and take another out. I can't see any way that Dwight was the strangler. He is so protective of his co-workers and I can't think of why Dwight would kill anyone anyway. Bob Vance on the other hand? Very possible. There was the scene when Phyllis said she'd get Bob involved and then said "I've said too much". Bob is also known for beating up guys in bars, and I wouldn't be shocked if his refrigeration company is actually a front for something else. What if people found out about Bob's shady business, Bob found out they knew so he strangled them. However, I find it very hard to believe a man that paid $1,000 at an auction for a hug from his wife could possibly be a serial killer. There's no denying that Robert California was a very strange man. That being said, while I wouldn't be shocked if he turned out he was a criminal, I don't think he would be a murderer. Although the comment about liking choking during sex does raise suspicion. Creed - like many other people in the comments, I agree that he has probably killed someone, but he's not the strangler. Definitely committed a lot of other crimes though. And now we get on to the two most likely suspects - Gabe & Toby. Toby's obsession with the case and believing he'd put away an innocent man directs suspicion to him. His sudden obsession with crime novels in the later seasons also sets off alarm bells. Toby also comes across as detached from life and very depressed. However, the biggest piece of evidence for Toby being the strangler is the fact that during the chase for the strangler, everyone was in the office except Toby, and the car was the same model as the one he drives. However, the guy in the car got caught, and it wasn't Toby who got caught. He also seems too nice a guy to be a serial killer - he cares about his Daughter a lot and wants things done right in Dunder Mifflin. So all things considered, I don't think it was Toby - but if we ever did find out that it actually was him, there's enough evidence that I wouldn't be shocked. This leaves only Gabe - the man I am convinced is the Scranton strangler. The strangler only starts being heard about when Gabe shows up. Gabe comes across as very creepy, insecure and just... off. He is mocked by the rest of the staff and strongly disliked by the majority of them. I'm not actually convinced Erin ever liked him I just think she was so nice she didn't want to upset him, until eventually she was honest with him. Gabe is also into a lot of gore and violence and has an obsession with samurai swords and other weapons. He shows completely that he is a bit of a psychopath after Erin and Andy get together. He just generally seems a bit unstable. You could argue that Gabe wasn't physically strong enough to kill someone - but like Paul said, the strangler didn't kill anyone there and then, they just died once the strangler left. There's one other issue - while Gabe was in the office when the police chase was going on, he was also trying to get everyone to get back to their work and stay away from the case. So it's close between Toby and Gabe, but Gabe just edges it for me. So yeah, in my opinion, the Scranton strangler was Gabe.

I just watched The Office for the first time (I know, late to this party). The weird thing is that I already knew about the "Toby is the strangler" theory, so I was really looking out for clues. Now, I don't know anymore ! For instance, the first time we hear about Toby's writing is when Jo checks his computer to find out if he's the maul. She confronts him about it, and he immediatly confesses that he writes crime novels. It's only after that that he starts referring to his books on a regular basis. But the thing is... He looks worried (I know, he always kinda does) when Jo talks about this text on his computer. What if it was actually his journal ? We know the prose is about a nobleman who falls in love with a "simple maid". What if this is how he sees himself and Pam ? After all, even if he has a crush on Pam, he never admired her, and this writing could be his outlet. If he confesses his crimes in it, he would need to make up a cover story on the spot, in front of Joe. Then, getting caught in his own lie (which is a classic The Office situation), he kept writing more crime-fiction. Even though he had no intent to in the first place. Another thing to corroborate the fact that Toby didn't actually care that much for crime fiction in the beginning : in an episode, Michael tried to lure Toby out of the office by putting a few good crime novels in Toby's way to work. But that doesn't work at all : Toby shows up immediatly after that. He couldn't care less about the books. So I guess he did frame the guy who enventually got judged as the strangler. But I don't think this guy was completly innocent either : maybe he strangled someone, for unrelated reasons, and Toby saw an opportunity to frame him. Afterwards, he realised that he tricked someone a bit like him, another strangler... And that's why he felt guilty. When he goes to see him in prison, he says that he hopes to finally find a "real friend" (is that the exact words he used ? Can't remember). But when he told this guy that he was the real strangler, it went south. Then, Creed certainly is shady... What if it was a bit of both ? Maybe Toby was investigating the case. Creed realising his coworker was onto him, he framed someone else. If you look at the evidences against Toby, you realize they all could be explained by Toby investigating the Strangler case, without him having to be guilty himself.
@miltonkennedy80134 жыл бұрын
Sò Corsi And remember the “travel” to Costa Rica pretty rare destiny for someone like Toby. Maybe this could be a Clue Oh! And Toby really knows how to jump a high fence, remember when he touched pam’s leg Coincide? I do not know thing so?

I haven't really watched The Office thoroughly, but I wonder if it's supposed to be like 'Bad Luck Brian' for Toby. He is just a nice and compassionate guy who tries to personally reach out to the suspect, but Toby is met with the misfortune of the inmate really being the Strangler (cause that's just how Toby's luck runs! He could be the sweetest guy around and the world just takes a massive dump on him). To my limited knowledge, I think it fits the theme of Toby's character better that way. He's just a normal guy who can't catch a break. But I could be wrong. On a side note, how Michael treats him makes me cringe and I genuinely feel bad for Toby a lot (like pushing the lunch tray off the table when Toby was actually trying to comfort Michael. Though I will admit the 'Noooo!' is funny).

@@NathanWhite22 its more than that.. its sex. Toby was dedicated to that life, he can obviously conclude that sex with a woman he loved isnt whats bothering him dumbo. Watch the show attentively and youll realise has a allot of thoughts in that fucked up head

The comments you showed were not mixed. 😆 I appreciate the work you put into this stuff. And I know you are having a good time. And that's all that matters.
