easy way to catch a whaler. Steel cable with adjusted negative buoyancy so it floats just at bow bulb level. Once the prop pick that cable up.,its game over and only remedy will be salvage tug.If the whaler miss, one can fish the cable out of the water and set the trap again.

Most cutters is for rope,not steel cable. Go to any dry dock and see how they fitted and size. And to compromise the stern tube seals and bearings do not take a lot of wedging.

@@WyvernApalis no it isn't. You also don't need a 406mm shell to sink a ship, especially not a whaling ship. Modern ships are way more fuel efficient and way better for the enviroment, and you can shoot with way more accuracy or even shoot them down with a missle over hundreds of km.

The helicopter pilot always seemed scared and afraid to do his job to me. Of course they all were a bunch of bumbling loofs in every episode. I liked the cause they were trying to accomplish but mercy. The captain always seemed scared too and nervous to face involvement with the harpoon ships. I watched all the episodes and still wish it would come back on.

I've flown the same type of chopper over water, fishing on tuna boat (oups!) I don't undersatand why the pilot didn't follow his own track on the GPS!... Coming back from his depature point and he will find the boat, even if it moved from few miles away. The chopper can fly at a speed of 120 knots, the boat 15 knots at the best. In bad weather (light fog or low clouds), put the landing light on, when flying, it will help to be seen. In plus the boat can catch it with the radar... well, it's a show!

It's the reason why Australian Navy or even Fisheries ships aren't down there patrolling the area. Because it's only very loosely considered to be Australian territorial waters by a handful of countries. So at the end of the day, from a legal point of view, it is international waters. Hence the cat and mouse game of Japanese whalers vs well meaning volunteer crusaders. And both parties are down there trying to bait the other into breaking an international maritime law. Even then, it only actually matters if the country the ship is registered to actually cares to do something about it. As we saw when the trimaran was sunk.
