I use the paper bag method, comes out perfect every time.couple years ago I put the bags in the room outside where we keep like garden tools etc.its got 3 walls it's just open where the 4th wall and door would be . Just trying to give a visual, anyway, not long ago one of my roommates was cleaning up the tool shed and he handed me a paper bag with the top rolled down,I grabbed it thinking no way shaking it,there was something still in it. There was one big bud from like 2 years ago still bright green,it had lost some smell and some potency but it got me stoned pretty good, for being in an open shed in nothing but a paper bag no mold at all which is amazing to me,rainy seasons and all, true story.

I used to go by the dryness of the stems to determine when to jar things up, but I found way too much variability in when stems start snapping. Now I just jar things up when I think they're about right (usually ~7 days of hanging at 55% RH and 65 degrees) and if nugs stick together in the jar then I just leave the lid off, wait 12-24 hours, give the jar a shake and see if nugs are still sticking together. I've never had to wait more than 24 hours with the lid off until the humidity is at the right point and I've also never had mold with this curing method after ~8 years.

If it’s sticky and tastes bad that means you didn’t dry it long enough , dried it too fast and it re-moisturized (overly strong fan directly on the buds drying) , or your humidity/tempwas off in your drying room . After about a week of curing the hay scent will be gone , or if you dry trimmed it and dried it longer than the hay scent should be gone as you drop the nugs in for cure day #1 . Either way after a week or so it should start to smell better .
@Micheal3132 ай бұрын
I've been having issues due to weather. The humidity sunk to friggin 10% a few days after trimming. I then tried to cure too early with the hope of slowing down the overall drying process and spot a tiny bit of mold on like 2 buds for 2 dif jars so I've just spred then back out on a rack. I usually have good results because the weather would typically be perfect but this year hasb been out of whack

As far as long-term storage, I do two hash runs every year. Once my jars have been sitting in my stash for 18 months, they get thrown into a hash run. I've noticed a degradation in potency after about two years of being jarred up so I try to make it into hash and get it all smoked before it turns into "nap time hash."

Best tip for curing.....pick a few buds small buds or break a bigger one (4-6g), put them in a small jar with hygrometer....if after a couple of hours they are still below 63. Then ready to put in jar or grove bag. I've got one of those wood moister metres, they are ok, quite difficult to get a stem reading and the snap method does get you in the right zone. But nothing beats the little 2 hr tester jar. for real accuracy, in my experience.

@@ntroxell83 small amount, 2 hrs.....thats not the same as four ounces thats going to humidity spike to 70 % it works. hense posting it. If you don;t believe I can hit 63% after a 10 -14 day dry then thats down to you and you local ambient conditions. So work out yourself what your jar point is, aim for 57-58 and it's still going to be better than far to wet, and as I say it's an indicator. stem snapping is too vague for many and wood moisture metres are hard to get a reading. If people over dry, then another tip, is to add some of the trunk or a few pieces of the plants branches to the jar and keep sealed for a few days until the humidity rises and enthuses the buds, then start curing.

I've been doing a bit of "research" on drying, and read that terps are VOCs (volatile organic compound) . These compounds actually evaporate and oxidize during the drying process 😳 many at relatively low temperatures (62° f and up) and MOST will at "room temperature". 58 - 60° was considered optional range, and even slight variations will effect the final product. I myself have noticed that my humidity can be kinda tricky to keep steady, but if my temps are steady, I still have decent smoke. Still learning! Cheers 💨 ✌️💚🌲🌏☮️

I have a question about drying and curing. My environment has a dramatic change in humidity. 15%-80%. I’m thinking this year to dry it with a humidifier because of how dry it is here. Got a seal room for this. I’m thinking getting a smart humidifier that is smart so I can adjust it easier and open door or close it to dry it out. For drying and curing then put into a gasket seal plastic container with humi pack 58%. Maybe play with different woods to suck up hay smell. What you think for a dry climate?

Hey man! Great video Great content Just harvested and began the cure 1/14/24. I trimmed dry and got like 95% of the leafy material off then clipped buds down to manageable sizes then I put them into jars for the curing. I have a small Hygrometer in there to monitor the RH and Temp My temp is around 19 C (Hygrometers are only in C -- so that is like 66F) And RH was 70% this morning when I grabbed the jar and it was still closed -- opened jar and let it sit for 15 minutes then sealed it back up and it's in my dark basement in ball jars. When I closed it back and put the hygrometer back in --it was at 45% so it dropped 25% just by opening the jar for those 15 minutes. I am going to keep burping it 2x per day for the first week, then 1x per day for the second week, then 3x per week for the third and then check it and see what it looks like. Usually after 3 weeks I can go to burping it just 1x per week for the 4th week and moving forward so usually after 3 weeks of actively checking it and burping it, I can then store it longer term and just burp it once per week (or maybe even less depending on the specifics- it just depends on what the buds look like). I notice that after the 3 weeks of burping, the smell is TERRIFIC! no Planty smell --no grassy chlorophyll-- just sweet skunky bud smell and it's so nice. I love the videos man! I watch all cannabis growing videos to get as much knowledge as I can and I watch yours multiple times to gain info. I want to master it and try different things and gain experience. To me I think growers aren't tailing the truth about currying. My last grow (purple wreck) I did something different, in a three-gallon cloth pot week 7 of flowering trics turning milky, I put the plant the pot whole thing in the shed and stop watering. Each day I slowly trimmed off leaves. By the first week some trics turned amber and the soil was dry, after week two the buds were crunchy, but firm. I put the buds in small pickle jars for curing.. first week burped once a day week 2 every other day. after that just smoke on. best weed I've ever grown. PS when the pot soil dries the plant starts to smell more and more.

I once burped a jar and the lid popped off hitting me in the face with enough force to leave a red mark. Is that normal?

I've heard good things about the company(Grove Bags) too! Those guys actually SMOKE flowers! As opposed to say... an ex-vice officer for instance! 😆 🤣 Nice to support the community 👍 ✌️💚🌲🌏☮️

Best thing about groove bags is they don't clunk when running across a field in the dark

Longest I cured for is about 3 to 4 weeks. Glass jars. I can get a little impatient after the 2nd week. Lol.

Same here… We always do three weeks.

I aim to dry at around 20 degrees Celsius and 50-60% humidity. As someone said earlier terpenes are (VOCs), volatile organic compounds and some terpenes start to evaporate at as low as 22 degrees Celsius. I normally use my air conditioner as it’s easiest to control what conditions I want. Then I tag and bag just before any stem is snapping. Then burp regularly (every 2 days and check) for about 2 weeks. Then I use a esky in a cool spot in the dark cupboard or wardrobe.

I feel like people end up growing way too much weed for personal use, then when they harvest next they just smoke the fresh stuff and forget about the older harvest.

Exodus cheese year and a half was still sticky as the initial final burp date. In my opinion smell and taste was more enhanced the longer it went.

@@JoJon536my cousins didn’t listen to me when I told them to pot all their outdoor plants and move them under a tarp this year , and shake them when ever the rain stops if they can’t get to doing that .. they also didn’t listen when I told them that rot spreads if it’s not cut out . They got a few ounces overall with 6 plants , I got 2 with a pound … could have gotten more but I ended stunting the growth a few times by doing too much supercropping at the wrong times
