I am so thankful for this series! I am the adopting Mom of a husky who had both back paws amputateed. He is healed but needs padded bandaging for every day. I have done this myself for the past 5 years. My technique is pretty close to Jennifer's. I am lucky to have been able to learn from you the use of the donut since h we gas gotten sores that require it. Thanks again! As a non vet I would love to see a series on canine wound care

Thank you so much for the video! I have a large Shar Pei that’s almost 11 yrs old who somehow fractured her hind leg. We can’t afford to take her back to the vet each week because in total it would cost over $1000 for just re-bandages over the next 6 weeks and that’s after spending over $550 for the initial visit! So I’m changing the bandages myself by teaching myself & your videos are so instructional with great how to vids and step by step instructions!! Thank you so very much!!!

You're lucky. My 8 year old Aussie has a spiral fracture of the right back leg and the initial cost was 2 grand and they want 120 per baggage change. Thankfully I have and small vet experience and this video is a life saver.

What material are you using for the stirrups? Is it adhesive tape? If so, does the sticky side go to the hair or away from the hair? Thanks!

Thank you for your question. Yes we use the typical 'white porous tape' that is so ubiquitous in the vet clinics. Sticky part on the hair then give it a flip to stick it to the Kling/gauze layer. The truth is that it does not stick to the gauze very well but the protective (vetWrap) layer will hold it in place.

Hello! I have a dog whose TPLO incision didn’t heal and dehisced. Trying to figure out how to keep xeroform and damp gauze over that with some coband but can’t get it to stay on. I was using a strip of elastikon tape around the top which worked but irritated her skin after a couple days. Any ideas?

I am so sorry to hear that you and your dog are dealing with an incisional dehiscence. We often use the island bandages on our incisions after surgery to help protect it. They are a large white breathable "bandaids" that do not stick to the incision but the periphery of the bandage has a sticky component and can stick quite nicely to the shaved skin of a dog. You will need to change it frequently though because you have an open/dehisced wound. Otherwise you are bandaging the entire limb just to cover a wound and it takes a lot of material for that bandage to stay up. That will get expensive. Search for "breathable adhesive island bandages". Fingers crossed that they work for you
