Dear Shawn, I understood your concept of the bamboo cut linked to the idea of compressing the ball towards the target. but when I am in front of the ball if I apply this technique, which I have no doubt about its effectiveness, either I miss the ball or I fix a clod, why and what should I do to solve this personal problem? Best Regards Christian

There is definitely a couple key references missing in your approach; see “predict perfect contact and direction shawn clement” and “how to put the ball in the way of your swing shawn clement” On our premium channel, see “blur of club” and “the goldie locks series” and our latest “task to finish” series which shows you hoe to make the ball INCLUDED in the task.

Hi Shawn , with the lead hand release/elbow kicks down , is that something that should happen automatically or not ? It just doesn’t seem to happen for me naturally in my swing .

YET!!! 😝😀👍. You need to be able to feel the difference between hitting at the ball and releasing through the ball!

Are you intentionally teaching people to slice? Jon Rahm hits the ball so far because he's a well practiced athlete at the peak of his athletic life and he's got legs like tree trunks. In 25 years he won't be able to do what he does now and to think that "anyone" can do what Rahm does is a pipe dream. That's like saying anyone can hit a home run off a MLB pitcher or anyone can drive a Nascar. These people are the best in the world, they are on a completely different level that most of us can not even comprehend, they are not common people. I've played with professionals like this that were so good it boggled my mind. At the time I was scratch but I had to stand back and just appreciate the amazing talent that I was witnessing - Driver, 7 iron into par 5s, 330 yard drives performed casually ... it's truly amazing. That's when you realize there's "good" and then there's "really, really good."

I've been trying to get width on my backswing and was hitting the ball well today until the 15th hole I played. I tweaked my left oblique on that swing trying to get more out of the swing. Is this something that I can avoid in future rounds? How often do pros tweak their oblique muscles, if ever, on swings?
@golflessons2 жыл бұрын
Very common! Too much strain! You want 3/10 effort to get 8/10 velocity-compression which means you want to use momentum to build the through swing and not force.

I have question about your swing. In your real swing club shallows in the dowswing but it also looks shallow in followtrough. We can see the club under left shoulder. When you do the practice slowmotion drill you show much more upright position in followtrough for your club. We can see it over your left shoulder. Why they look different and is it better to try get more upright followtrough?
@golflessons2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the shot and the club Jukka; don’t worry about how it looks as long as you deliver the task into the picture!

Shawn, should I ever feel like I’m pulling the butt of the club down at the top of my golf swing, or does this go against letting my arms fall?

I will email you my swing and yinz can put it on youtube and share with viewers on what you like and dislike about it. I gotta warn you its powerful , repeatable and very accurate. Yep you shaped and built it but it is mine. ;) ;) That feeling of compression thru impact everytime never gets old. Lead arm drill is hmmm? Friggen " GOLD "

When I get width properly and swing with low strain it’s an absolute wonder how far the ball goes.
@kirkclements48932 жыл бұрын
So from an anatomical perspective, holding your lead arm straight out in front of your sternum becomes the max limit of width. Then just apply that to your golf swing.
@golflessons2 жыл бұрын
Yes, and when you bring both hands on the club they line up right there in the centre of your sternum; you can’t get there without a good turn of the pelvis and rib cage so width and turn of body go hand in hand! 👍😀
@roniwankovitsch2 жыл бұрын
Noticed Rahm's back (shoulders) was pointing at the target and his arse wasn't. Any comment? Is this something an older golfer should avoid? Or is turning one's arse toward the target easier on the anatomy?
@Gumballa872 жыл бұрын
the amount of "arse to target" is a function of stance width when counter-weighing the club&arms (hammer throw). If you are very flexible accuracy suffers with a narrow stance in the full swing bc you go past 90°/ 90° (e.g 110°/110°) pulling your head away from the ball in the backswing. wider stance reduces your range of motion. try feet together vs feet more than shoulder width apart and see and feel the difference :)

@@pmportella See “grass whip training shawn clement” as an example of cutting grass; it will not take you long to become an expert at this and you could never loose this skill. The reason you loose your swing is you get distracted from your task with body part positions or scared of missing or being careful or swinging too hard. If your full time job was to cut grass, you would swing EFFICIENTLY, low effort and nice velocity, and would never worry about missing. Our Premium channel has great videos on “tasks” like “top 3 tasks” and “task trumps everything” and we have “throwing the club” as another one with “the throwing series”

I like your instruction with one exception. At the 8:00 minute mark you talk about "gather wide" and you visually compare your move with John's. Your words don't match the picture. John has next to no hip movement in the backswing and you have a great deal of hip movement. It frustrates me when the instructors words do not match what my eyes see.... Just saying
