😂😂 luckily the mustang has hill start assist. But I can do it in my focus with the e brake. That’s how I used to drive up onto my 2x4s to be able to fit a floor jack under when it was lowered

Jacob R. Doty used to be brutal in my old foxbody 5.0 manual. I forgot about the hill start assist in the newer stangs that is a feature I would have have loved back then.
@wartortilla28194 жыл бұрын
Jacob R. Doty I was just gonna say lol. Yeah idk when they started that but I picked up a GT350 a couple months ago and when I got to a hill, I pushed the clutch in and was gonna let it roll back just a few inches and it just stayed put for about 3 seconds and then started rolling. I thought I had the E-Brake equipped and was very confused till I saw the safety setting lol. Also, they have a clutch assist as well that makes the clutch very very soft. There’s some easy mods to fix that if it’s not your cup of tea. Every car is different. But great advice to get moving!
@jasonsiepierski84874 жыл бұрын
Just find your clutch on hills. You won't roll back at all. Depending on vehicle I just rev match and don't use clutch at all.
@Blvkcoyote4 жыл бұрын
Sam C Easy. Keep foot on brake while releasing the clutch, you should know your engagement point and soon as clutch engages foot off brake and you wont roll no matter what.

When I taught my son how to drive stick I had him to use zero throttle for taking off until he caught on, just release the clutch very slowly. Adding the gas came after he mastered that.
@Theferg12 жыл бұрын
@David Szakacs I did the same thing with my son. I bought him a 2008 gmc Canyon single cab 5speed. But that’s exactly how I told him and then once he caught onto that I took him down by his school where there is some hills and I explained to him about when the car started to move when he gets the clutch out which he already knew, and he learned within 10 minutes and we never look back. And he loves his little truck.!! 👍💯

It would also be helpful to have a camera under the steering wheel to show the clutch/gas pedal movement from a dead stop and when shifting gears. Maybe as a split screen showing you in the driver's seat talking and shifting and clutch/gas pedal action at the same time.

Great tips Jacob for the beginner. I actually learned to drive a stick on my own when one of my first jobs was working on a car lot, so I had the experience when I later became a truck driver. That's why I love my 13 GT in my retirement years. Stay safe buddy. 😎👍

Yeah, I am buying my first 07GT with a 5 speed. It'll be my first manual car I ever owned, and driven. I've driven a manual civic like twice for a few minutes. But I float gears all day in a 10 speed eaton, so I think I can figure it out pretty easily, and I got those fancy pants racing sims to help me too with a shifter and wheel. 😆

Got videos. Just found your channel. I’m looking for a 12-15 mustang currently. Had a 05 before it got crushed between two trucks. Good times right. But I had a truck once where they put the cup holder right where second gear was. So I had to always skip second when I had a drink. That truck probably needed a lot of work. That thing didn’t want to go into first for anything.

It's less about letting the clutch out slowly and more about holding your clutch at the bite point, then let off slowly. Also, cars with around 150lb-ft of torque is enough nowadays to start moving with just the clutch on the bite point, throttle needed. Modern cars will add gas for you when the clutch is at the biting point, it's got nothing to do with the car having a lot of torque. Also, in reverse, you would never let out the clutch completely, unless you actually want to drive in reverse.

Nice dash, console panels, where did those come from? Good explanation, I've been driving manuals since I was eleven, learned on a three on the tree on the farm. I have taught countless people how to drive a manual and usually start them off in dirt so it's more forgiving on the drive train. I also teach them how to use handbrake or the emergency brake to get started on a hill. The clutch in my 2011 Mustang is pretty heavy so you do have to be pretty precise with it. No quarter clutching it.

That rolling off the clutch and onto the gas thing is horrible advice for my car For mine, if you did that you either stall or peel out (unless you did it ridiculously slowly, pissing everyone behind you off). This is because the clutch has a couple points on it that change from nothing nothing, wait it’s bighting, fuck it’s stalled You gotta like bring it back, slow down the release, wait for the bight, give a touch of gas once you found the bight point, hold it there like it’s a 1/2 gear, and then you let it out all the way and the car only shudders at me sometimes I’m still very new to it

Hardest thing for me is to get into second gear faster. It’s either I wait for the revs to drop but then I’m slow and the person behind me has to brake, or I let off the clutch faster and make the car jerk a bit. Every other gear is fine. How do u guys get into second faster? I think the issue of the car not having enough momentum off of first is the issue
