I have the Egyptian Gypsies deck as well as the Book Of Thoth deck. It is very interesting indeed that not much information is readily available in English but is abundantly available in French. I bought my Egyptian Gypsies deck way back in 1973 as it was the 1968 published edition. I have noticed though that the newer published version has some changes to the titled meanings on the cards. There are many different Etteilla decks out now but sometimes I wonder if the methods of laying the cards and their title meanings ascribed to the respective decks have been created and changed by other parties to which is not original to Etteilla himself. Great video with valuable information about this mysterious man Etteilla.

What is surprising about this great man is that his burial grave site being a famous person that he was can't be found. I have searched to locate it but havn't been able to find anything. ML. Lenormand's site can be located in Paris but not Etteilla.

L'origine "égyptienne" du tarot. Je crois que c'était une mode d'époque pour les occultistes. Comme référence à la magie et au mystère et symboles c'était parfait, vu que les hiéroglyphes n'avaient pas encore été déchiffrés à l'époque. Pour s'imaginer qu'un jeu de cartes d'origine italienne plein de symboles manifestement catholiques et chrétiens est égyptien, il faut faire un grand écart de gymnastique mentale🤣🤣

Je conviens que l'origine égyptienne du tarot était une mode française du XVIIIe siècle qui n'a fait que s'intensifier avec les guerres napoléoniennes. Cependant, ainsi que la tentative d'attribuer l'origine aux Mamelouks ou à la Chine ancienne. Il est évident que toutes les cartes les plus anciennes sont liées d'une manière ou d'une autre au nord de l'Italie et on n'en voit aucune mention avant le XIVe siècle. Mais étant donné le niveau d'éducation d'Allietta, il est possible qu'il y ait sincèrement cru.
