"Maybe I'm overanalyzing..." My brother in Jacob, not only is that your job, its why you have one of the best Lost channels out there. It's why we're all here.

Great video. Finding and analyzing those hieroglyphics is next level! I also agree with you that the Egyptian era on the island happens after the events in Across The Sea…Jacob’s tapestry and the hieroglyphics in the donkey wheel chamber confirm it for me. Keep up the great work.

"I'm good at spotting things"... My god, the dedication and the attention to detail in this video - it's astounding. I've always been fascinated by the Egyptian mythology hidden in the background of LOST, but I was never smart enough to draw any conclusions from it. It's a good thing your channel exists. The moment the Egyptian music caught up with the 'Heart of the island' theme gave me goosebumps. 😛 I'm personally not the biggest fan of this episode, but watching MIB leading Ben to the chamber and emerging from the vent will never be the same again, now that I have a better understanding of how much of his history must have taken place there. Thanks a lot for all of the hard work.

Thanks a lot! This video took me a long time and it's one of the videoes I have most memories of working on. I vividly remember those dark evenings in January when it was hella cold outside and I was going deep into Egyptian lore!

Amazing work! Great job identifying those hieroglyphs. The ancient history of the island is so intriguing to me. I would have loved more of this in the show itself, but videos like this are the next best thing. It's interesting to think about the Hindu/Buddhist art, cuneiform writing, the Romans, and what culture Mother came from. The temple itself really doesn't look Egyptian at all when you look past the hieroglyphs. I think it was mostly inspired by Cambodian/Khmer Hindu temples, especially Prasat Thom with its stepped Prang pyramid. Baksei Chamkrong has one too.

This video (and all of your hard work included!) is the perfect example of why I dislike those Lost naysayers spouting: "Meh, unanswered questions; meh, I want to see more of the Egyptians; meh, how was this built/who did this?" etc. It's (mostly) all right there - you just have to delve! (Or let Choekaas delve for you.) This video is a fantastic look at the background mythology that enriches the lore for those that want to look for it. But can you imagine the show forcibly trying to shoehorn even a fraction of what you're discussing into the actual narrative of the show?! Trying to mix the STORY of our survivors with the HISTORY of the island as if they're supposed to be concurrently told/explored? All of this enriching detail is AWESOME and it's so cool that it's being discussed so many years later. The Damon Lindelof mantra of "I don't want to have a scene equivalent to explaining midichlorians" always wins out. Leave enough breadcrumbs for the smart (Choekaas) to piece together so that we can all form our own final head canon. Great work as always, Choekaas!

Great video Choekaas! Appreciate the amount of painstaking research that must have gone into this one!

That's the most in-depth analysis of Egypt mythology in LOST. As always great work! It’s interesting to imagine thousands of people from an ancient civilization on the island and how MIB convinced them to build a chamber and god only knows what else

Thank you very much! You can probably look at this as a teaser for season 6, since more is to come when I eventually get there.
@DenisNyashen8 ай бұрын
@@Choekaas can't wait for that! The main plot value is in 6 season I believe. Explains everything, the smoke monster, the candidates. Remember how watched it in May 2010. Guess I have to rewatch whole serial again

Bra jobbat. This has always been my favorite Lost episode. Didn't know that Salinger from Ilanas team was present when Ben shot Ceasar. Never thought about that..

I've officially caught up to you, and coincidentally you've just about caught up to my 15 year-delay Lost rewatch where I watch every episode on its 15-year anniversary. This week I just watched Some Like It Hoth (original air date: 2009-04-15). Due to the two week break between that episode and The Variable, if you continue with weekly releases, your episodes will come out just about 15 years after the original episodes for the rest of the season!

Awesome! It's been a thrill to have you along for the ride. Thank you very mcuh for all your comments. There will be weekly releases, although there's going to be a bonus deep-dive-video between episode 13 and 14.

You are the most dedicated fan of Lost…understanding the chamber makes the sideways make more sense regarding how souls have to overcome their own personal tests to cross into the light. For the people killed or died in the sideways…I wonder if they are truly dead and can’t cross over. That would be a perfect justice for Anthony Cooper.

Thank you very much for those kind words.

This is amazing, thank you. However I've always had a big gripe with this whole Ben thing. How did he know to be judged, why would he care about being judged, and how did he know where to go. Seems like something he wouldn't be interested in, and nothing from his past suggests he knew about this. Thanx again

Amazing job matching the book of Ani. I don't see much evidence that Jacob's Latins were the first group of people Mother encountered on the island. It's possible but doesn't make much sense given Mother's sentiments on humans which imply practical experiences with them. In general most of the social hubs on the island seem to be board positions which at various times were predominantly influenced by one of Jacob and MiB. The 3rd line on the cork is particularly conspicuous: Break the immovable yoke that we may sleep. The fact that the 1st and probably earlier 2 lines (since Egyptian heiroglyphs are older than cuneiform) present the dualism as an even and necessary balance while the latter 2 present the dead as a threat is very interesting.

What did you mean that Ben "claimed" to know nothing about Jack and the others being in 1977? Don't forget that the island's electromagnetic energy flowed from the island to other parts of the world.
@Choekaas2 ай бұрын
He claims he knows nothing about them being there in 1977 in the scene with Sun and Lapidus, when looking at the photo. In "Whatever Happened, Happened", Hurley asks Miles why Ben doesn't remember Sayid shooting him when they met much later in 2004 in the hatch. Miles was not able to answer, but Richard answers this at the end of the episode. "He'll forget this ever happened".
