@@chainsawfingers intermittent fasting is the timed eating window in which you eat food which forces your body to rely on the stored fat in your body for energy when you are not eating. I try to eat between 11am and 7pm which leaves a 16 hour fasting window for my body to digest, rest, repair and burn fat. It is best to ease into it by slowly increasing your fasting hours. Your body will even appreciate 12 hours of fasting time!

I love avocados and I always bought the organic ones. What I discovered was that the demand for avocados from Mexico are impacting on the monarch butterfly habit if you buy the non-organic ones. So on the whole, I no longer buy avocados regardless of what kind they are or where they are from. I live in Canada and all I ever find are the Mexican ones. It's not a sacrifice if done for the right reason (for me). We plant based eaters think that we do not impact on Mother Nature but there are times when we do.

Is white rice okay to eat on this diet
@TRUCKESCRT3 жыл бұрын
@@biancapereat9075 I would say probably not as it isn't a whole grain but has been processed, which is what makes food lose nutritional values and increases calories. Red, black, wild and brown rice are whole grains which are unprocessed, they don't raise your blood sugar quickly like white rice does. (not an expert but what I've started buying bc I'm from Louisiana and rice is a MUST HAVE for me on any eating plan, lol) As a food, white rice is probably better for you than a cheeseburger per se, and is actually relatively low in calories but I'd head for the natural, unprocessed varieties whenever possible. From what I can see, her plan is basically Noom in a book, or likely Noom captured the essence of her plan in an app, however, she says NOTHING about meats so I assume she is strictly vegan, I wish she would have bothered to explain where on her chart various meats actually fall for those who aren't quite ready to give up meats entirely. On Noom, meats fall into the "red zone" which is basically you can have it but limit it.

In the Mediterranean Diet, which many doctors feel is one of the healthiest diets, you do use Olive Oil. That doesn't mean you have to be swimming in it, but Olive Oil has always been deemed as a healthy oil. I use it to make homemade salad dressings, along with Avocado and I don't find that it makes me gain weight. I've had oil-less salad dressings and I think they are awful. I do agree that too many Americans eat a lot of junk food, which is why we are the most overweight country in the world and yet we have so much abundance. I love eating vegetables, and I only eat chicken and fish, but I do incorporate wine in my diet and find that as long as I'm very moderate in drinking, I don't have a problem with gaining weight at all. I might also mention that I do exercise regularly, drink lots of water and have green tea daily without any cream or sugar or substitutes and I am healthy as a horse. I rarely get sick.

You're eating an ENERGY dense low fat diet and it would work better for weight loss to eat a NUTRIENT dense low fat diet--lots more salad and veggies. And if you can, eat the veggies and a glass of water BEFORE getting to the energy-dense oatmeal/bread/whole wheat pasta/potatoes. Making sure there are lots of legumes in there helps too--due to the "second-meal effect." Take care

1. Any fruit is ok..like mango, papaya, etc 2. You mention rice and millets are ok but what about 100% whole wheat flour?
@MyParkerBoy4 жыл бұрын
All fruits are okay, but ww flour is not a whole food. Try to eat your grains in the most whole form possible. So, brown rice is better than brown rice flour.

I got fat eating kale! Also the largest animals on the planet (elephants, hippos, the largest of the dinosaurs) are all plant eaters. I was a vegetarian for most of my life starting at age 7 after seeing the treatment of animals being raise for food. I have always been very, very healthy but very, very overweight. In 2018 I decided to become vegan to try to get control of my weight which ballooned to 280 lbs (I am only 5'1''). Well I gained almost 20 lbs before I stopped. I went to opposite way and started doing keto. I had to try something. It was very difficult for me since my whole life - I could not tolerate the treatment of animals. I lost 80 lbs in 9 months and have kept it off easily and I am even more healthy than before. And I eat limitless non-starchy vegetables but mostly meat and no grains at all. My point is that there are 2 types of people in the world - those whose bodies need mostly veg and those whose bodies need mostly meat. You need to figure out which one you are and do that and that is what you should preach. We are not all the same and we all need to be our on best advocate.

I tried this way of eating and I gained weight. I ate veg and potatoes ONLY. I didn't stuff myself either. I loved eating this way but I cannot afford to gain any weight or I will become diabetic as I am currently borderline. I did it for 3 months. What did i do wrong? Now I am counting calories and avoiding starch and sugar and I am slowly losing again.

I used something similar to finally lose weight. I haven't had a normal BMI since my early 20's. Besides counting calories, watching calorie density is the only really effective way I have found to lose weight. Plus some of the low-density foods are stuff that pop nutrition says you should cut back on, like fruit. I eat several mandarin oranges or apples every day, and I find them extremely satiating (perhaps too much, if I were not losing weight, I'd need more dense foods).

I just saw that Chef AJ’s book The Secrets to Ultimate Weight Loss is less than $10 for the Kindle edition! 117 recipes for that price would be SO worth it! I’m going to buy it today! ♥️

I’m wondering why I feel less inflammation when I use my organic olive oil or coconut oils? In fact I feel full longer when I add more coconut oil to my shakes or foods? And whenever I drink organic olive oil mixed with lemon for diff health concerns… ? I agree w/ everything u are saying and understand but the healthy oils is perplexing me. 🤔

@bbqutie173 жыл бұрын
Vegan butter has 4,000 calories per pound...not the best option for trying to lose weight. Try ketchup, salsa, or a homemade vegan cheeze sauce instead. Your tastebuds will adjust.

What about the amount of time the person stays satiated on the healthy food? I was under the impression that the other foods can keep you satiated for a longer amount of time than vegetables.

11:25 I know it's better to eat the fruit whole, but if you blend an apple at home, the fiber should still be in the end product, nobody is extracting any components, so I don't understand.. Can anyone explain?
@starjestis82933 жыл бұрын
Eating the whole apple maintains the fiber and takes up more space in your stomach that is why it is better than juicing or blending.
@annabellewallis2913 жыл бұрын
@@starjestis8293I understand it takes up more space in the stomach if you don't blend it. But when I want to put on weight I sometimes blend juices. So where does the fiber go in the blender? It can't just dissappear
@lf70652 жыл бұрын
@@annabellewallis291 By blending you predigest the food, essentially. Your body will absorb the sugars much more rapidly than if you left the fiber intact by chewing it up yourself.
