This video is from 'The Seekers at Home' TV special (1968 - now available on a DVD with 2 other specials, including this song & 47 others! - www.theseekers..... I've used the original audio (from 1967), to enhance the clip so that it plays at the correct speed / pitch and in stereo. Best of the 60s in stereo: • The Seekers - I'll Nev...

This song was never one of my favorites until I heard the restored audio mated so perfectly with the video. The clarity of the sound and the crispness of the video make it seems like it was made yesterday... or tomorrow. Still wish it was Judith on the train...

This video was filmed at Mulgrave NSW railway station in 1967. Mulgrave, which is on the Richmond line between Windsor and Vineyard was at the time quite rural, being mostly dairy farms and not much else. These days much of the north of the rail line has become more light industrial? I lived on a dairy farm at Mulgrave from 1943 until 1968 and when this video was made, like most of the local population, watched it being filmed. This video was featured on a Seekers special on channel 7 soon after being filmed. The station buildings and the wooden trestle bridge over South Creek were replaced when the line was electrified in 1991.

That was interesting. We are watching the special on KZbin, and trying to work out where was filmed. It rally goes to show how much Sydney has swallowed up its rural surrounds.

Mulgrave is a railway station in outer Sydney on what was known as the Richmond line. At the time this clip was shot the steam operation was due to cease in a few months I believe. So no its not Puffing Billy in outer Melbourne ! The producer probably knew the steam service was soon to close and so they went out and filmed the clip just as they had filmed Puffing Billy for a Seekers song 'Morningtown Ride' in about 1965. Great 60s songs indeed. But that's when everyone was more or less content in Australia and the country was not run by fawning fools !

The other day I arrived at the parking lot at the hospital. As my wife and I exited the car. We are seniors. Out of nowhere this young lady approached us and asked us if we were okay. We replied that we were. At the time it was snowing. This young lady opens her umbrella and placed over our heads. She didn't want us to get wet. I took a good look at her. She was a stunning blonde and very beautiful. I am thinking were I have seen a girl like this before. This girl in this video - although a brunette -matches the girl who asked us if we were okay. Almost a twin from another part of the world. Wow.

Clatter - the milkman at my doorstep, bustle - my neighbour at her tea; In all the world no one's so glad to see the sun as me. Angeline is always Friday, Angeline is spring forever; Winter Angeline could never be. Mister Wilson, old and smiling, lifts his cap as she is passing, Bowing her politely on to me. The week has gone its lonely way; I've waited for my only day Away from shadows, In her sunlight I can tell her, "I love you, Angeline." Angeline is always Friday, suitcase on the rack above; She hasn't even read her magazine. Angeline is counting stations, 'til the one where I am standing, Waiting for my only Angeline. The week has gone its lonely way; I've waited for my only day Away from shadows, In her sunlight I can tell her, "I love you, Angeline." Clatter - the milkman at my doorstep, bustle - my neighbour at her tea; In all the world no one's so glad to see the sun as me.

There is something so celestial & poignant about The Seekers. I think it is aided by their sepulchral vocal harmonies, & the Tape Saturation on all their early material. I feel sorry for anyone who grew up in this time; they must be hard memories to bare. It's the price we pay for love & happiness. It is only temporary. The Seekers are the worlds very BEST at capturing that innocent sublime ethos of the era that deemed world peace & love as the ultimate solution. Of course, the track that does this so effortlessly is A Whiter Shade of Pale. That track is pure magic; like much of The Seekers material.
