I lived in Idaho during the time The Seekers were popular. For some reason, I never heard any of their music except for Georgy Girl. I have 50+ years to catch up on! Love their music.

In late 1965 I was 10 years old. I am now 65 and The Seekers are still going! Many of the songs The Seekers sang provided the sound-track to my life. In all that time my children have grown up and had children of their own, and their children have had children too. I have still got my Seekers records and Judith's crystal clear voice with perfect diction is the perfect antidote to the modern world with its Uber Taxis and Facebook!

vfb2020 Eine Übersetzung der Wörter. Schreiben Sie, was Sie darüber denken.
@vfb20208 жыл бұрын
Ganz gut, aber auch verbesserungsfähig. Z.B. könnte man "How it breaks my heart to leave you, now the carnival is gone" mit "Wie schmerzt es mich (oder Mir bricht das Herz), dich zu verlassen, nun, da der Karneval vorbei ist" übersetzen.

This programme would have aired on the BBCs Light Programme. BBC radio offerings at this time (1965) consisted of the Home Service, the Light Programme and the imaginatively named Third Programme. Radios 1 to 4 branding arrived in September 1967, when Radio 1 was first on air.

Lyndon, if I hadn't heard Brian announce this show, I wouldn't have believed the title, "Top of the Pops." I don't remember the show at all. How could they have been allowed to use the same title as the famous TV show, also on the BBC? And how could I have not known about it? (Don't answer that).

I think they were using the Benny Hill theme song as their intro. Judith had "nervous exhaustion"? Is that like The Vapours? I thought that was what Bronte heroines got? An "operation on my nerves"? Do I even want to know what that is?
@grimTales15 жыл бұрын
I always thought Yakkety Sax was the Benny Hill theme song ;)

Judith was only 22 at this point and may have become a little overwhelmed by such sudden success and the unexpected demands and pressure that it brings. Their initial trip to the UK was intended for fun and sightseeing with a few gigs to help pay their way and maybe sell some of their W&G records. I don't think they had the slightest idea things were going to rapidly morph into something so huge. jtk
