Hi again rich963! Once again, I commend and congratulate you for keeping the music of the incredible Seekers alive for my generation and future generations! 😁💖👍👍👍 I was born in 1950, so I grew up in the main era of Judith, Athol, Bruce, and Keith. But in the 60's during my teen years, I mostly embraced the music of The Moody Blues, Beatles, Bee Gees; and rock and roll and pop. However, now in my early 70's I have finally grown up and fully embraced The Seekers. No offense to big fans of The Beatles (whom I also love), but for me The Seekers are the Greatest Band who ever lived! I am so happy that all of them are still living, and I hope they all outlive me. I am now making up for decades of lost time by listening to this beautiful group each and every day for the rest of my life! God bless you and The Seekers, good sir! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 P.S. IMHO this is the BEST cover ever made of this iconic song, and I will send this link far and wide to all my family and friends, and strongly recommend they subscibe to your channel! 😁💖😁💖

Big fan too! 🤗 62 years OLD 🦕 This great song is beautiful by Guthrie, Seeger & Springsteen (at the capitol) plus many others. But these folks were really something special! I never heard them sing this before, but I love it's upbeat tempo & cool video 🥰 They remind me of PP&M and Mama's & Papas. Ah, her voice! Like them or not, you gotta respect the 🎶 from the 60's & the intent behind it -- nothing like it 🙏✌️👣

Thank you SO MUCH for uploading this . One of the absolute BEST musical groups ever . I remember singing along at the top of my voice as a child and being so thrilled when I saw them on the telly. Their voices blended beautifully together and each one was amazing. They sounded even better Live and that's a rarity. I'm hoping to go into seniors' homes to do karaoke sing a longs and I think that the Seekers' music would get everyone joining in . I have to practise much much more before I do however as I don't want to "murder" these beautiful songs.

I know the video is probably from 1969, but the music was clearly pre-Judith. You can't hear her voice in the harmony, and if she had been in the group, she certainly would have sung a verse.

When this was recorded in 1963, Judith had only recently joined the group so many of the songs were ones which she or the Boys had performed previously...

Very odd pairing here with this video and song. Very famous American folk song (by Woody Guthrie), sung by an very popular Australian singing group, in a setting that is clearly not in the U.S.A. In any case the Seekers did a great job with Woody Guthrie's song!
@rich9637 жыл бұрын
Thanks - the upload was mainly for this rare stereo version of the song. Rather than just attach a still photo to it, I thought I'd use this footage (there's none available of The Seekers touring the US) ;-) Interestingly, I also uploaded another song from this LP at the same time ('Children Go Where I Send You') and this one has had more than 6x the number of views!
@ziggystardust523 жыл бұрын
I have commented on this earlier but, I wish people would sing ALL the verses. It gives you a different perspective. Americans are probably scared of the backlash, but there’s no reason for an Australian group to leave out the more controversial verses.

This song was _not_ written by Woodie Guthrie - get it right. He just changed the words to the song "When the World's on Fire" which was written and performed by the conservative Christian "Carter Family". Guthrie copied it without accreditation. .
@ziggystardust523 жыл бұрын
He only used part of the melody. May as well say John Denver didn’t write ‘Annie’s Song’, or Tom Springfield ‘The Carnival is Over’, and countless other songs based on older songs. You’re just pissed because Guthrie’s original words are anti-capitalist. Get off your high horse.
