This was in the 80’s. FAS wasn’t a widely known thing quite yet. There were rumors of the affect of alcohol on unborn fetuses but it wasn’t mainstream until the 90’s. Wild to think about but true.

I was like "uhh didn't you know alcohol was bad for the baby?" since you know that implies she would have drunk it if only she'd remembered to buy it lol And that's how I found out FAS hadn't been discovered yet back then
