I’ve been thinking about selling my Staccato C2 and getting this due to the grip being thinner. The C2 is too thick for my liking. Don’t shoot all that well with it. Can you change out the grip panels like you can on the edc x9? Doesn’t look like it. Guess that’s what it means by solid frame?

No one cares particularly about my story but it lends to the conversation and this series of pistols. I have the following Wilson Combat pistols in order of buying them… all stainless - Classic 45, CQB 45, CQB Rail 45 Bull Barrel, CQB Tactical LE 45, CQB Tactical LE 9mm, EDC X9 4” original with Armor Tuff, EDC X9 4” DLC version with ambi safety (both X9’s have orange outline night sights). Wilson Combat makes unbelievably great guns and I have slimmed down my collection of “other” platforms to find my Wilson’s. My plan is to order the 4” and 5” SFX platform, sell the bulk of my other Non-Wilson Combat collections like my Sigs, HK’s and Glocks because Wilson makes the best guns, have the best customer service and frankly are the nicest folks and it’s all USA - you literally can’t go wrong!

After I purchased my first high-end pistol after a while it becomes boring to keep buying sub par firearms. Now I'm not so inclined to keep up with the impulse buying to one hundred firearms that I lose interest in , so it's time to rethink my hobby and bring the very best in to my collection. Wilson Combat is a pleasure to own , it will change your perspective on shooting and defining your personal collection, into the best firearms made and to me that's were I want my 2nd amendment lifestyle , enhance your collection to a higher standard . Thanks Wilson Combat !

Exactly where I found myself headed. Ordered my first Wilson (Stainless Classic in .45) and over the past 10 years I started buying from a dealer that does layaway. I sold most of my plastic and non Wilson guns, pay a small deposit, save and pay monthly until the gun is built and now I have 5 traditional Wilson’s, 2 EDC X9’s and am ordering the 4” and 5” SFX9’s - my collection is much smaller (7 Wilson’s and 5 Sig P226 variants) but it’s of immeasurably more quality!

@Snookynibbles
@Snookynibbles 2 жыл бұрын
@GOIN’ HOT, there’s a lot of room for debate here. Re self-driving cars…there’s ample downsides, unreliable technology aside…there’s speciousness in your example. You overlook the undeniable fact a .45 (frangible or ball projectile comparisons) makes a bigger hole than a 9mm, and that handgun stopping power is now understood to correlate to rapid blood loss of perforated, highly vascularized major organs. Add to that knowing that handgun projectiles are known to often enough fail to expand, starting out with a larger caliber remains an advantage. Moreover, the greater mass of a 230 gr. .45 slug has double the momentum during penetration of typical 9mm projectiles, meaning the heftier .45 projectile is less likely to deviate off course as it penetrates. Regarding magazine capacity, indeed, there are circumstances where packing spare mags is problematic, and the 9mm shines there, yet training to reload under stress somewhat levels the playing field. Noteworthy is inasmuch as how most handgun exchanges are determined in ~ 3 rds of hits, it makes sense for one’s hits to be as effective as possible, and this is a weighty argument for the most effective cartridge/load one can manage; the 9mm, popular as it may be will forever play second fiddle to the larger calibers.
@pranc236

@@zenadventurer69 if ur boat is not already in the water, u will need wheels to get it to the water. Just saying. Just curious.. have u tried a dot on a smaller pistol? It does have some advantages. Also pistols that come with dots also have co-witness sights. Training with a dot gives u instant feed back that u dont get from irons as well.

This is the model I purchased as well. The gunsmith at my FFL dealer just sent it back to WC for me to figure out why it’s having a problem with failure to cleanly eject rounds. I was using Fiocchi 9mm para 124gr FMJ at an indoor range. This is my fourth 9mm pistol purchase over a period of several years. My others are SIG, S&W, and Kimber. I enjoy different characteristics of each of them. I’ve wanted to buy a WC weapon for 2 years! My SFX9 3.25” will probably become my EDC, IF we can get it to work reliably. :)

You nailed it on the head, The width of a gun is the biggest issue for consumement. Especially if you’re a small person like me. I’ve carried a 1911 for a long time for that reason they are so thin. But the pistol I have now is an heirloom pistol so I’m looking at getting the SFX9 with a 4 inch barrel. It’s sort of looks like it incorporated the guide rod of a 4506 Smith & Wesson with the frame and safeties of a 1911 built with a magazine that will take double stack. Wow what an ultimate combination. Going to start saving my pennies maybe by then they won’t be on back order.

I have 6 Wilson Pistols and I love them all! ! I have a X-Tac Elite at wilson now having some upgrades work done. I have been blazing away with my full size CQB Elite 45. I found while cleaning up my shop around 30,000 rounds that I loaded ba k in the 90s, a real bonus especially with the way things are now! I have had 1 dud, it had no primer. Not one issue with the gun. I am lucky, I have a small range at my house and shoot every day, weather permitting. The first Wilson that I fired was Rob Lathams 45. I went out to one of his class' back in the 90'''s. Nice trip, really enjoyed AZ. I will never forget shooting that gun. It had a trigger that would fire if you sneezed on it! My favorite 1911 format is the CCO - 4” (or 4-1/4) barrel over officers frame. For me carrying IWB, it’s the grip that prints. Barrel length doesn’t matter. I don’t understand the longer grip with a short barrel setup. So a short frame with 4-1/4” barrel version would be perfect for me.

I own a small one. I admit that the pinky extension is something that is a must for the grip size and the length of the frame. Of note- the extension with my size hand, forces my fingers into the junction of the trigger guard & frame. This is not a bad thing! Forces the hand high and makes for a great grip! Wish I had a few more. This is a soft shooting sub-compact and carries as easy as any poly subC pistol. Like Bill, the 15 round is the back up. Great pistol even if mine has the old name. Thanks much gentlemen, enjoyed the tour.

If this is only to going to be offered in 9mm it would be nice to have it scaled down in all dimensions to 9mm which would reduce weight and make it easier to conceal. A 1911 scaled down to Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer size is what I am looking for or a Browning HiPower with a 1911 style sliding trigger.

I think it is a bit silly that manufacturers manufacturers don't change change, you have to presume that a lot of people have purchased your product and we're not talking about lollipops here pops here, traditionally weapons aweapons are passed from generation to generation I have a revolver that was Built-in the late sixties early seventies and there's no reason that I won't be able to pass it on to my children.

Will the 4 inch slide & barrel fit on the sub compact frame?

Good question. If the barrel (5") will match up to the subcompact, you can thread it, and put a suppresser on it.

Will there ever be a 4.5" barrel? Also, maybe a longer grip? Like 17 or 19 rnd capacity?

No offense gentlemen, I'm sure these are phenomenal. If I'm spending north of 3k on a hand weapon, it's going to be a Manhurin M73

What holsters are you guys using for this (I just bought a 4")? None of my 1911 gear is sized for a light rail. Oddly, this fits my leather Sig 220 holster pretty well - but I would like to get one just for this one...or two...one OWB and one IWB.

I have found that my EDC X9s with rail fits in a holster for a Staccato C or C2

Doesn't it mean the grip panels now are susceptible to rust if we don't oil it since it is no longer wooden? I rather the frame be polymer like Staccato C2.
