Not a negative, but driving and maintaining a coach takes a lot of knowledge. I would dedicate some time to understand the potential issues that you might encounter on the road and how to recover. Best of luck on your travels and welcome from Virginia.

I am sorry you have had to go through that, my blessed Mom had radical Mastectomy in 1982, it was heartbreaking to hear her cries when I changed her dressings for her, but, she lived 18 more years, only YOU can know your suffering, but, I admire your fighting spirit !!

Guys, we're calling for the UK, to help you (we've had an Americn Motorhome for 7yrs), you're on a journey. Reset the Trip Meter and log the experience. My sincere advice is to contact the Bus Grease Monkey. Scott & his son are fantastic and will help you learn your Bus, that's the key. ENJOY but take the time to learn the basic for that type of Bus it's really important. Big Hug Peter & Rayne

If the rig ever overheats, try turning on the heater control for the engine, turn the fan to full blast and let it run. The temperature should start to go down. Of course, open windows if it gets too hot inside.

Before you get on your big journey on the road, make sure all connections cleaned and de-rusted, all oils filled. All filters changed, temperature gauges and any other gauges are checked and fully working. All tyres fully treaded and filled with air. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a car or bus, all engines and working parts should all be checked and fully tested before any long journey, especially when it’s your home. If your engine has been fully overhauled and checked by a qualified mechanic you will be fine. Always ensure you have spare parts for everything that is at risk of breaking ie hoses, puncture repair, plugs, batteries, connectors, fuses, air pump etc you’ll be good. Do you have services like we have in the U.K. ie RAC, AA? They are road recovery organisations with 24/7 mechanics available everywhere nationwide top to bottom of country. If you have , it might be worth joining one, so that if there’s any mechanical issue, you have someone to call on to help out. Also, maybe start watching you tube videos on bus mechanical work, if they have any of course, to help you both out. Good luck guys. Are you putting a logo on the side of your bus or leaving it plain? I think @rehabit8 would look cool.
@Rehabit8

Hi Julie, thanks for the advise. As we said, we have discussed our coolant problem with our mechanic and MCI and everyone thought the sensor was broken. We were heading straight to the mechanic before putting any serious miles on and so he could check everything out for us. Our mechanic Joe has been an amazing resource for us, we are able to call him up with questions and now that we aren't building, Don can spend more time learning about the mechanics. There are also some great facebook groups for MCI bus people, many of who know more than us. We have found them helpful in the past.

This is very good to find the various issues close to home. Look for those leaks in the cooling, fuel, oil systems. Might want all new filters as well. Ask the mechanic about overheating. Last i knew its best to leave it running to let it cool down. But never done it.

Best to have such problems close to home rather than miles away from anywhere. Ours will be ready to move in by mid September, fingers crossed. Then we get it certified as a motorhome, then registration all ahead of a road trip to Melbourne, Victoria which is just over 1000 miles away. Watch that tag axle if driving over uneven ground.

Just a bit of info, if you remove the on / off valve on the end of your water hose it will fill much faster.It usually has a hole 1/2 the size of your hose. The water filter will slow it down some too, you definitely need to filter the water. The filter you are using is normally for city hook up, we filter our water coming from the tank into the coach. Happy Trails…..
@Rehabit8
@Rehabit8 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips Kenny about the on off valve. yeah we have 3 filters. Our 2nd filter is from tank to bus house, then a 3rd filter is ACUVA for drinking water.

Double check that all that coolant that you just added to the engine is compatible with whatever fluid was already in there. Or better yet have a complete flush done asap and have fresh fluid put in. Great video, thanks for sharing. We've done several cross country trips with our TT. We bring our cat Lewis with us who also walks on a leash, thinks he's a bad ass in his red harness!! One thing I found to help with his riding in his carrier, a product call ThunderEase (made by the same company that makes the Thunder Shirts for dogs), it's a natural phermone that has a calming effect, so we spritz the carrier with about 4 pumps of the spray and let it get absorbed (about 15 min), then put him in and he's comfy and quiet. Anxious to see your next post, our trips have been very planned out with specific destinations and timelines, but our next one we want to do more Harvest Hosts etc and stop when and where we want. Thanks!!

We are under weight. Thanks for asking. You have to remember we took out tons of metal. The chairs and upper luggage bays were very heavy and the bus is made to carry 57 passengers and all their luggage on top of that. Weight was a consideration and if you actually watch our build videos you will see the ways in which we chose lightweight materials and considered our weight distribution. So yes, once we completed the build and weighed ourselves, we were 3 tons under the limit.

Been watching your bus build since the beginning and maybe a little dreaming about doing the same thing myself. What a gorgeous bus you both have created. Yes, what a challenging time you had starting out, but at the end of the day, your super power and secret weapon is you're still smiling, and you always have each other. Together, you can conquer anything. Whomever said life was not so much the destination, but more about the journey was more profound than any words could describe. Challenges in life define character. It's not the problems, but how you fix them. Thank you for being an inspiration to many of us in both bus building and in life. I think I can speak for most of us watching, we believe in you 100%! You are never alone, and we're with you every step/mile of the way. Happy Trails, and God Speed. Roger

You don't know how much i enjoy watching your videos, i think you shouldn't worry so much about making mistakes, it's a new world for you, otherwise it wouldn't be an adventure, at the beginning of the last two videos i was wondering why you were using another vehicle, but i think it was your best decision to have a second vehicle Support to be able to go out quickly, do small shopping and so on. In this first stage of adaptation and testing, I think you should consider having a smaller vehicle or a 4-wheeler and mount it on a small trailer attached to the bus and then you would have a real assistant always available and you could travel together the 4 of you always. Greetings from Belgium and hope to see you next week.

No flack folks. You guys have done an amazing job, look what you have achieved. You can cope with these hiccups, good experience for anything that might happen in the future. I had to sort out a few issues with my camper van but it was done after a few times of trouble shooting. I think you are brilliant, I know it’s not easy when things go wrong but try not to stress. You are on a journey so if it takes a little longer to get somewhere it doesn’t matter. Enjoy ❤️❤️
