UPDATE/CORRECTION 12/7... Thanks to knife community member @tommymccombs4309 who brought to my attention the blade steel currently used is 4116. My original schrade I purchased 9 ish years ago was AUS10, and the current website information they had posted stated the same, but they had since changed the steel to 4116. Per "dogstar" in Knife Forums, "4116 always gets brought up as one of the worst steels. I don't get it. It's used in kitchen knives, presumably because of rust resistance and ease of resharpening, which are both good in my book. I prefer knives that can be easily sharpened with basic tools that I carry in the field. My 4116 knives are among my sharpest. I also like their price point." 4116 stainless steel presents a balanced option for knife enthusiasts, offering decent corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and good enough edge retention for everyday. Especially for daggers such as this as their primary knife role is penetration, not cutting or slicing. Thanks again @tommymccombs4309 for bringing this to my attention. No one is perfect, and occasionally I get one wrong, and am eager to both admit it and correct the error made. Blade ❤️ @TheSharpestEdge 😎👍🇺🇸

Cool knife and a great video. Thanks for posting. I recently purchased a couple of budget beater Schrade small fixed blades and am impressed with the quality for the low price.

@@Huey4214 Thank you, my friend. They are pretty good blades for the buck! The one in this video is still going strong after I throw it into thick, cardboard boxes for fun. I have even cut a few other things with it, and the edge is holding up pretty well! Thank you for your comment and have a great day 😎 👍 🇺🇲

Great and informative video. What do you think of the Blackie Collins glass reinforced "letter openers."
@the.sharpestedgeАй бұрын
@paulbervid1610 Thank you, my friend. I actually have quite a collection of those letter openers including two by BC. They are wicked. The older versions pass through metal detection, but I believe they had to start inserting a coin-sized piece of metal in the handles to prevent that feature. Not sure if that practice is still done to date, but they are sharp; light, and can penetrate many different materials. I saw a demonstration with a Cold Steel FGX blade driven into plywood and punched through! There was some blade tip damage, but they ground and sharpened it right back again. They are quite a formidable blade in the right hands. Thank you for your comment and have an awesome weekend 😎👍🇺🇲

So which steel is it, AUS10 or 1070? I've had one of their 1070's and it would lose an edge cutting thru butter.

*Update 12/7...They came in both 9 years ago when I first purchased one. This current blade is 4116. The website still states the old information, but thanks to some knife community member's bringing it to my attention, the clam packaging states 4116. Still having no problems with it whatsoever at this time, and I love throwing it into cardboard 😁 Thank you for your comment, and have a good day 😊

@tommymccombs4309 Thank you, my friend, for bringing this to my attention. I purchased this blade 9 ish years ago when they were first brought out. They weren't made of 4116 back then... I should've checked the recent packaging instead of relying on the website with old specs information. My apologies and my appreciation for getting back to me about this. I will be posting a correction in the comments shorty. Thank you for your comment and have a great day 😎 👍 🇺🇸
