I think what JJK does really well to make its writing more efficient is that it uses fights to also show character moments, so while The Shibuya Incident as a war arc is appropriately very fight-centric, I think there's a lot of actually great character work being done, and it answers so many things that have been built-up since the beginning of the series, while being extremely high-octane, high-stakes and entertaining. 2:42 Maki survives just as Nanami does (heavily burned), but makes it out better because of her Heavenly Restriction. Her physical stats (durability, speed, strength) are all superior to basically everyone even with her incomplete Heavenly Restriction. Naobito got hit with the bigger cross-fire attack that Jogo tried to use on Gojo in episode 7, and got rightfully toasted. 3:50 It's been established that black-sclera Toji is a puppet of carnage that will attack the strongest entity around. After he beats Dagon, he grabs Megumi, who also has a domain, so that makes sense why he would be targeted as an enemy, and be fought one-against-one. The manga never draws attention to this fact, but Toji's flashback only triggers when Megumi actually says something directly to him ("Now what?), bringing back his "soul"/conscience. When he kills himself, knowing that unlike him who forsake the Zenin name for the Fushiguro name, his son still kept his ties to his father ("Fushiguro" "Not Zenin, huh? Good for you"), he actually achieves what very few people in the Jujutsu world does, and he dies like how Yuji wants to: surrounded by the one person left in the world who he loves. His first death, the last thing he thought about was his son, that he regretted selling him off so that's why he tells Gojo about Megumi. He was a deadbeat dad and honestly didn't deserve reconciliation with Megumi, and thought that he didn't deserve Megumi (a "Blessing" for a monkey born without blessings) but he dies a thematically perfect death. Very subtle character work but it's all there in my opinion. 5:56 I'm not sure about this point about not bringing up that Megumi can summon Mahoraga to exorcise him whenever, because basically Megumi was never shown to be strong enough to exorcise it by himself, so it always would result in his death, so that's why it's always just been portrayed as being a last resort/suicidal attack. As far as defeating a shikigami before being able to use it, during the Kyoto exchange event Megumi said that he "recently tamed" his Max Elephant, so there was hints that there's some type of exorcism process. 6:25 Mahito's Idle Transfiguration amplifies with the length of contact with his palm, so Nobara, and later Todo, getting by alive while only getting "smacked" without being outright killed is narratively fine to me. The fact that Nobara is still alive, but the left side of her face and some of her head got blown out, I think is a future set-up for the reader to expect that the Nobara that returns will not be the same person. I think those are also stakes. I think it's important that this arc not only answers previous questions, but sets up questions that also will be addressed later. 10:30 Mechamaru is a contradictory character in and of itself. He's very human for not wanting to suffer in a painful and useless human body, and to form real tangible connections with his "true self", therefore betraying the people closest to him, thinking that he could then double-betray the enemy, and then putting a contingency plan for when things go south in order to also save the same people he betrayed. He wanted his cake and to eat it too, but a big theme in JJK is "fighting against one's fate" and if it's possible, and for Mechamaru it wasn't. If he was in talks with the enemy all the way back in the Goodwill event, then it stands to reason why he might have inklings of the Gojo-sealing plans anyway. As far as being a cheat code, he's a cheat code that still doesn't make Yuji win his fights. None of the information that he provided actually was decisive or "won" anything for the sorcerers' side, just gave them delayed information in order for things to happen. And the important thing is he's never redeemed for being a traitor, Miwa is super sad, but you can tell that the other Kyoto students are hurt and kind of pissed. Nobody says they forgive him, they just move on and do their job. 16:10 Yuji versus Mahito is important because it's an ideological battle. Mahito's convictions towards causing pain, suffering, and death is self-justified by his mere existence. If people didn't fear and hate each other, he wouldn't exist, so how can he be wrong? The two scars on Yuji's face and him beating Mahito after finally accepting their similarities with the "I am you, I wanted to reject you" speech, means that although Yuji defeated him, the irreparable damage to Yuji's psyche means that Mahito will metaphorically live on, a permanent scar on Yuji's sense of self, his place in this cruel world, and his role in it. Him wanting to live means Sukuna will live, hundreds of deaths are because he didn't want to be executed, he doesn't think he can save anyone, he doesn't have to save anyone, he doesn't need any reason or meaning or excuse to live except to kill curses. Curses will kill humans, and Yuji will kill curses. Again, amazing character work that is still showing through his character through to the current chapters (165). Sorry for the long comment, appreciated hearing your thoughts, and just wanted to share some of mine! For all that JJK comes across as a meathead shonen, I think there's a lot of incredible subtlety and detail that make it really rewarding to analyze.

I get so annoyed by people who just keep those rose colored glasses on for things that they like. There’s nothing wrong with loving something but also acknowledging it’s flaws. I love Demon Slayer but even that manga has some plot holes. Mostly about Tanjiro and Nezuko’s lineage. The manga felt like it was building them up to reveal some deep secrets as to why Nezuko is able to evolve so much and Tanjiro somehow being able to use the sun technique. Also how was their family able to communicate with them? Where did those marks on the Hashira come from and it’s history. Where did the main villain come from. Not to mention the ending was just ok. Maybe I need to re-read it because I might have missed something. But for now those things bother me, but I still am a fan of the series despite all of that.

In Demon Slayer, usually after most battles or during training moments, they do a little time skip from 1-3 Months usually (Maybe even more). That's why it kinda seems like Tanjiro and Nezuko evolves to fast. As for Tanjiro being able to use Sun Breathing, it mentions that Tanjiro's Bloodline can use Sun Breathing bc their body's can actually handle the technique. Hints why Muzan came to kill Tanjiro's family in the first place.

The whole thing on how their families communicate with them, it's most likely due to a conscious thing. Most anime do that when they have 40 flashbacks in their head about their friends and family, in order to motivate them in a fight. Or it can just be a Japan thing. The Marks was said to just come out of nowhere and anytime a Demon Slayer was near a person who originally inherited the scar, they get it as well if their Worthy and they get a temporary power boost in exchange for a shorter life span. Muzan became who he was bc he didn't want to die, and he had a disease that was gonna kill him before he turned 20, and a doctor gave him some medicine that prolonged his life in exchange for being weak to sunlight. Muzan regretted killing the doctor who did that to him which lead to Muzan trying to do research himself to find out how he could survive the sun and be a long living creature at the same time. I guess is up to u I guess, but I thought it ended the series beautifully

Mane this arc was top tier. 9-9.5/10 😂 Not any issues I see but one. Mechamaru’s plan that activated the live remnants of himself as a condition from Gojo getting sealed was the only semi-problem. I don’t think they explained the “condition” part enough for us to fully believe it was possible for Mechamaru to do that, or if it was similar to a binding vow that could activate on the condition of Gojo being sealed either. Not that big of an issue to me as it’s believable, but not enough info on certain things making it feel kinda off. Not issues, just my thoughts: The Choso/Yuji brother thing was okay since it had purpose and still led to a lot of deaths, which affects Yuji’s mental state quite a bit. I didn’t see a problem with the Toji and Megumi ending cause the only reason Megumi got picked was because he was the strongest. It was lucky that Toji’s body still acted on instinct to fight the strongest, otherwise his body wouldn’t have did what it did because of his son.

Mechamaru was a very wasted character and I think that they should have kept him alive to be honest I think he had a lot of potential to develop as a character and as a fighter considering that unlike the other young Sorcerers he fought with technology and with his mind and with the Heavenly restriction placed on his body basically being gone because of Mahito transfiguration technique being used on him he could he could have actually been in the field that's his actual self and helping the sorcerer's but sadly instead he was turned into a plot device like you said and support character during the Shibuya arc and yea the fact that he lost that fight was complete bull s*** also just a question have you ever read. blue Exorcist Manga before triggered senpai ?

I haven't red the manga but fuck it avoiding spoilers on JJk and most stuff is impossible anyway so screw it. Oh and toji is the rock lee of JJK well I haven't gotten that far yet of course but I always saw Maki as like a fusion of rock lee and tenten. Rock lee mainly for the part that she can't use cursed energy and is trying to prove the zenin clan wrong, but also tenten because from what I've seen at least in the anime she uses weapons and is actually good at using several not just throwing weapons like tenten. But I will just call her the better version of tenten.

Ok I have WAY more to talk about but lemme just talk about some points that don't sit right with me: Maki surviving Jogo's attack wasn't just "because she's a strong woman". It was because of her heavenly restriction. She has that physical strength for a reason. The only reason she is grade 4 is because the Zenin clan keep getting in the way of her promotion as said during the Kyoto goodwill event arc. The section about Megumi and Toji really confuses me. You said Toji could have just asked Megumi right away if he was a Zenin or Fushiguro but instead he decided to attack him. In chapter 110 it is explained that the Grandma's technique made it so that Toji would INSTINCTIVELY fight as a "puppet of carnage". He's a "puppet", meaning that he's not in 100% control here. Of course it would take a while for the body's info to override the soul of the vessel so him getting memories back after seeing Megumi is perfectly normal and explainable. Also, at 5:26 you complained about the author keeping Megumi alive but you don't give any reason as to why he should die. His character arc is not complete in the slightest so I don't see why he should have to go. I also have an issue with you saying, "Don't put him in that situation to begin with". This is a battle manga so of course character growth is going to happen MAINLY during near death battles. This isn't the final arc and Megumi has CLEARLY been foreshadowed multiple times in the series to have near endless potential even close to Gojo's. There's no way that Akutami would kill him after spending time establishing that plot point. Everything you said about the main characters being "plot shielded" was also just confusing as hell. The series has WAY longer to go. It's not finished. There's no reason for main characters to die when the series is half way done and their character arcs are still ongoing.

This is definitely one of the best arches, but the best thing about it is the end...The middle is full of strange moments that do not spoil the impression. but all the same, everyone is in a hurry somewhere and does not want to die. The beginning of the arc is the weakest part-Mehamury will not become a good character in such a short time. I had the same feeling about the robot from Invincible .

Don't agree at all, you're making lots of statements with the tone like "Doesn't this sound ridiculous!?" and that it equals automatically that it's bad. While I do agree with alot of fights doesn't make an arc good, and to a certain extent I agree there were maybe too many fights in the arc. Still this mostly stems from the way akutami set up the arc leading to very many fights. The fights certainly doesn't feel forced in anyway... and fights are always fun so personally I had no problem with them. Watching different matchups of different cursed techniques is one of the things akutami does very well. Of course this might not be just unique to jjk. "The author has no intention of killing of any main characters" ok I mean yeah you're right but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The bad thing I can agree with is with nobaras death. She really isn't that good of a character and not relevant to the story at all like she could be removed and it wouldnt change the story that much. It felt how akutami just used her as a plot tool to make yuuji breakdown when she was "killed" so that he could develop. And how maki didnt die is still understandable due to her heavenly restriction while nobara I felt wasn't justified how she didnt die.

Because kenjaku can jump to another body by replacing its brain, it almost like kenjaku can be in different era (almost immortal) and because of that in this timeline he chose one human (yuuji's mother unfortunately) to carry his big plan

The itadori vs mahito fight where to start after seeing all the deaths that sukuna made and after Nobara death during the fight mahito mocks itadori and says (you came here without any determination... i kill people without a seconds thoughts like you saving people... have you stop to think about how many curses you have killed... no me too) this to me show a lot about these two and seeing itadori crying in the ground it's just sad also I don't think it ended by a serious punch mahito was eaten and taken away from itadori and you can see itadori wanted to really kill him. 3. I don't think todo came out of nowhere 🤔 4. Now for Nobara so as far as we know she is supposedly dead but if she's not at least she won't be the same and that is a point for the author Yes I know it's too long and I skipped things like toji and Muta I'm just tired haha 😄

She was also caught off guard which wouldn't have allowed her to withstand the flames if she wanted to, on top of her being fatigued from the fight with Dagon. She should be dead bro😂

How about you watch fate stay/night heaven feels it's good, it's a movie trilogy It's has action, drama, romance and especially action, also I suggest you watch fate/stay nigh unlimited blade works first because you might be confuse when watching the movie especially the shirou and archer moment. The fate stay/night is a visual novel where there is three routes the fate stay/night, unlimited blade works and heaven's feels But there is a problem on the anime adaptation. they cut content some stuff on the visual novel like characters thoughts or inner monologue Oh and I also recommend watch bungou stray dogs: dead apple it has action, mystery, and action, my favourite scene is the dragon fight.

This arc has only fights and nothing more, this isn't enough for a good story, Jujutsu don't have even one deep and complex character, it's to basic, HxH, Naruto, Bleach and pretty much all good battle shonen has better characters and better plot, while Jujutsu has only fights and op characters on heroes side, that's why author tries to nerf them(Gojo was sealed only because of it) this was mistake from the beginning, Itadori is just invincible, if something went wrong there is op Sukuna and Gojo, it's just bad writing since the beginning, author understand it and tries to fix it but it's too late, this thing is unfixable, antagonists is boring clowns, but as i say the biggest mistake was making Gojo the strongest character, it's just ruins everything, antagonists don't look as a big threat when there is Gojo who can easily beat them, Gojos sealing is just bad writting and nothing more. Jujutsu Kaisen is pretty mid story, all elements in this manga is mid, mid characters, mid magic system, mid fights, mid story, anime has good visuals but this can't save mid story and plot
