This song would always play on XRT when I was in the car with my mom. We would never talk during, just listen. Such a good song. Makes me think of her every time I hear it now. Rest easy Mom.

Actually, it was back in middle school when the music video for Australia came out. My social studies teacher put it on, because he was a fan of The Shins, and I was hooked

I discovered this song (and the Shins) about 14 years too late when I heard it playing in a Wahoo’s in Southern California. While I’m sad I missed out for so long, i’ve more than made up for it since because holy shit I love this so much.

As a huge fan of The Shins since the 90's I must say this is actually a fantastic performance. It's always hard to get the original sound of a former band, and they still did an amazing job.

Unfortunately Jessica Dobson left the band to concentrate on her own project, Deep Sea Diver (they are pretty good, check them out). I agree though, she was my favorite part of seeing them live.

Too lazy to look for such comments, but I didn't notice any pitch problems after one listen. Not at all. Tempo was slower, for sure, but I think they sounded great. Love this song.

@@marct9808 nah, she plays the hell out of that guitar and very good vocals! She deserves her spot on any stage. She’s been writing and producing music with her band Deep Sea Diver. Opened for Pearl Jam for a number of shows. She’s the real deal musician who looks really good doing it!

This one has always been tough for me to analyze in terms of what the song is about or the lyrics mean. Some of it seems to make sense and some doesn't (to me). I think in one of his interviews, Mr Mercer said something about usually writing the music first and then having to come up with lyrics later. I believe it!

That's Pam Berry, the song right before it on Wincing. They always play it before Phantom Limb, as Mercer clearly wrote it and placed it there to be the intro to it.

No, only the drummer was fired. The other two members have come back to play and guest on albums from time to time, although they all play in other bands.

Either it was hard to get perfect timing due to the noise level / acoustics live on stage, or else they were going for an echo effect.
