I discovered this song (and the Shins) about 14 years too late when I heard it playing in a Wahoo’s in Southern California. While I’m sad I missed out for so long, i’ve more than made up for it since because holy shit I love this so much.

Unfortunately Jessica Dobson left the band to concentrate on her own project, Deep Sea Diver (they are pretty good, check them out). I agree though, she was my favorite part of seeing them live.

This one has always been tough for me to analyze in terms of what the song is about or the lyrics mean. Some of it seems to make sense and some doesn't (to me). I think in one of his interviews, Mr Mercer said something about usually writing the music first and then having to come up with lyrics later. I believe it!

That's Pam Berry, the song right before it on Wincing. They always play it before Phantom Limb, as Mercer clearly wrote it and placed it there to be the intro to it.
