Bro, attendance is higher than last year, plus the average time for a 9 inning game is 2 hours 39 minutes. Viewership is still up 7% from last year. Yes teams like the A's get no attendance, but that's because the stadium is a dump. People say the sport is boring AF, then why are so many people watching it. It's clear baseball still isn't in decline.

Thanks for your comment. On a global level relative to other sports the interest in the sport is declining.

@@economicsofentertainmentyeah cause countries in the far east and Latin America don’t care about baseball. Not to mention the baseball academy for the Dodgers in Uganda. MLB is also having tournaments in Europe as well. The game is growing immensely and the pitch clock only helps with attendance soaring last year.

@@economicsofentertainmentpeople have also said baseball is dying throughout it’s history. And Shohei Ohtani is bringing people to baseball.

Not surprised as baseball hasn’t been talked about since the early 2000s it’s boring and there is no stars in baseball baseball needs to turn it around otherwise the mlb will be out of business in a few years

Baseball is the only sport ive tried to watch live and was ready to leave less than a third of the way thru the game. And I'm gen x so it being boring isnt a new viewpoint. I cant recall any real mainstream excitement for the sport since the steroid era days of Sosa ,Mcgwire and bonds

"Who in baseball can you say has this level of global appeal?" Ohtani and Trout are active players well known outside of MLB circles. You could probably argue Mookie Betts too. Sports are markets similar to stocks and MLB is currently slumping but it's not as dramatic as someone not following baseball may think.

Good points. The names mentioned are not on par with Nadal, Djokovic, Neymar, Ronaldo, messi, Lebron James and Steph curry on a global level. Not even close

@@riccorich that is a very US centric view. There a plethora of examples of people who are unknown in America and are globally famous. Just go on Instagram. Your favourite baseball player will have a following which is mediocre compared to an average retired international soccer player.

Games are too long. Too much down time during games. Baseball is 20 times more enjoyable watching live versus watching TV. Outside of die hard fans, most fans dont really get involved until the playoff races heat up.
