This is my second Ridgeline. A reliable truck that fit's m'y needs. Nevers had a problem un six years. Will buy a third one when time comes.
@ervlichterman4714Ай бұрын
I just bought my third Ridge. Absolutely great truck. If you need to tow more than 5000 lbs. you need to a full size truck. Turbo engines are not durable.
@markelliott7917Ай бұрын
I'll take a reliable "outdated" engine anyday over newfangled high tech, unproven engine with things like, rubber oil pump drive belts, 100000+ rpm turbos, lean burn, plastic everything possible.
@jameslester4474Ай бұрын
Well, you can't stop progress. Manufactures need to learn from their mistakes and not let the Engineers design so close to failure to keep things cheap, and instead use the new tech. for quality and economy improvements .
@JohnWilliamson-qd4pxАй бұрын
Heartily agree @markelliott7917. We've had a 2009 Pilot in the family since new. It's ancestral 3.5 V6 is still silky smooth, has no leaks and doesn't smoke. Try that with your average turbocharged sub-2.5 liter 4.
@mikewilson5330Ай бұрын
I think the ridgeline platform is fine. I think the crew cab and the interior with the buttons and knobs rather than virtual interface for control is preferred. I think the V6 engine with 10 speed transmission that is currently in the Pilot is what Ridgeline buyers are waiting for. But this also must be accompanied with the elimination of stop/start and cylinder deactivation technology which is perceived to be shortening the life of the engine!!
@louisperich6678Ай бұрын
Stay away from turbos. The Ridgeline’s V6 approach is the way to go for reliability. I get 28mpg on the highway if I keep it in the 55-65 mph zone. That is outstanding for an ICE truck. The demand for a hybrid version is undeniable; how successful it will ultimately be will depend on the peak hp/torque specs Honda’s engineers design to. There is a limited demand for a “Prius-with-a-bed” design. I am very skeptical of “upgrading” the transmission from the proven, reliable ZF 9-speed to yet another homegrown Honda 10-speed. Honda’s house brand transmissions have been hit-or-miss.
@louisperich6678Ай бұрын
Avoid turbos. More reliable than they used to be. Never will be as reliable as a naturally aspirated engine. I get 28mpg on the highway with my 23 RTL-E. I expect this vehicle to last 300k+ miles with proper care - and it should.

I am a city boy so I don’t care about off road or towing anything but reliable engine and inside and out side I love so I am ready to purchase the 2025 black edition hopefully in December
@louisperich6678Ай бұрын
Ridgeline’s towing capacity is sufficient for the vast majority of truck owners. With Tacoma, you have to buy the towing upgrade package, otherwise you are worse off than a Ridgeline.
@Morpheus19726 күн бұрын
The Ridgeline is not intended as a "serious" truck. It fits its niche.
@HotRod37Ай бұрын
Having owned just about every full sized truck and SUV since 1985 , l leased a 24 Ridgeline. This is enough truck for 90.percnt of truck owners , most of whom will never go off road. A similar optioned full size truck will cost $15 to $20 thousand more. Great ride and tows my 4000 lb boat with ease. I love this truck, should have got one sooner.

Just finished 5 trouble free years and 76000 miles with my 2019 'T' model. I follow the recommended service schedule. And drive it the way it was intended to be driven. It fits my needs perfectly! I call it a car that can easily haul 2 motorcycles and all my gear. And not get stuck in light mud, sand and slippery conditions. Let it remain for people it is intended for. To keep making it As-Is should help reduce what it costs them to make it. Build a Whole NEW Truck for the 'other' class of Off Roaders etc. :)

@PeteD1884Ай бұрын
I imagine Honda will eventually give up on this. That is too bad. Most of us who need a truck now and then, don't really need to live with a truck. We need an open bed. I have a 2023 Ridgeline. It is great for my needs. I carry a few hundred pounds of firewood ocassionally. No problem. I toss my kayak in the bed (often), and my son's on top of this. Two bikes to carry? No problem. I know, ground clearance is an issue, but I recall my parents getting down logging roads with 1970s sedans, with what, 4" of clearance? Put your tires on the high rocks son. The Ridgeline is a practical pickup for practical folk. It ain't no off-roader. It doesn't try to be.

The reason I’m a truck guy and have been all my life is the size. I’m a big guy and need a big cabin. Ridgeline just doesn’t feel like a truck or suv. I would love to see Honda make a bigger one. But this is perfect for normal sized folks.

I owned many cars, both coops sport cars and high-end luxury vehicles and I recently purchased a Ridgeline. I am really impressed with this vehicle negativity that I hear about it is that people don’t understand what they’re buying research your vehicle and you will see that it’s not supposed to be a work truck it is more like a crossover vehicle and that’s what I wanted so research what you want before you purchase one.

Honda: make it stronger period! Beef up frame! Give it 330 HP, 2inch lift, 7,500lb towing, skid plates, tow hooks, second radiator just for tranny and 4x4 system….

Most of the car market is messed up with small engines with turbos and electric motors at least the Ridgeline steel keep the natural 6 engine.
@rfishy9Ай бұрын
disagree ,it's not the Ridgeline that has an identity crisis, it's the people buying it, they are looking for a truck that is macho and the appearance of them being tough, other than people buying a truck for their trade, they want to look cool...I had a Ram and the Ridgeline is so much better that i can give you more reasons to buy one....
@williamrossetter9430Ай бұрын
I have owned a Toyota Tacoma and Tundra. Great trucks (not currently due to their issues), but my wife and I have agreed that the previous trucks were not comfortable. Let me just say that if you think the Ridgeline's engine is not worthy, why purchase a turbo 4 cylinder? People who have worked and maintained turbos realize that their longevity is a problem. A turbo will have to be replaced in 150k or so, what then? The only decent truck on the market today is the Nissan Frontier. While not a Nissan fan due to their overall spotty reliability, at least it is a solid V6 and not a turbo 4. My two cents....
@Dickie515Ай бұрын
Most urban truck buyers rarely go off road and even fewer tow trailers. The Ridgeline is for those truck buyers.
@renjynxАй бұрын
Maybe its purpose is not to compete with the "BIG BOYS" and instead offer a smaller niche market what they need. I don't need nor care for anything bigger than a Maverick or a Ridgeline. I am not a tradesman who needs to cart tools and equipment. Towing a small boat or a 4x4 and perhaps a popup camper is sufficient. Having a truck bed to allow me to work on some small cottage projects is a game changer. My poor SUV is always getting banged up and dirty when we need to haul supplies from the stores. I once brought home rolled up grass sod after folding down all the seats. Would have been much easier to clean on a truck bed. Price is UP THERE for sure, but it has a lot of features in a top end SUV.

Turbo charge the 3.5 V6. Add heavy duty suspension components and raise the ground Clarence.
@deanvoss7098Ай бұрын
You are comparing two different products to two different groups of people.. nobody in construction or the trades or anybody that's going to pull a team of horses would buy a Ridgeline... The Honda rides better is more reliable and has better resale value and toes and does 99% of what most people do... If you really want to see a backup of vehicles go to a Dodge dealer right now
@louisperich6678Ай бұрын
Trades folks need a low-cost dependable truck. at $40+k the Ridgeline can’t compete with a stripped down, bare-sheet-metal-bed ford or chevy for pure work. It’s a personal truck.
@michaelconley1288Ай бұрын
It doesn’t look tough. It needs to be just a little taller.

It does what most others do somethings better or worse. It can't tow as much but rides and handles better. Not hard-core off-roading truck. Better long distance highway travel and daily driving. Rear Seat flat-floor storage space better than midsized competitors. In-bed lockable watertight trunk space beats competitors that have.

You do realize how foolish that is right hit the truck it's not a woman that's more truck than any of the truck on the market and it will Outlast any of the truck on the market ground clearance doesn't make a truck!! This is why it's good to do your research before you leave comments a truck has a bed which is the box in the back it has a tailgate!!
