I just wanna say, Kids Next Door was hands down my favorite series of all time growing up with Cartoon Network. Although lots of shows on CN were either hit or miss for me, KND was a show I couldn't get enough of. My gratitude goes to you for making my childhood that much better, thank you Mr. Warburton. In fact, I stopped watching Cartoon Network around the time KND ended, and that was no coincidence. Although I've long since grown into adulthood, I look forward to being recommissioned when the time comes, and I really wanna see GKND become fully realized. Kids next door rules! P.S. I loved that episode with the KND backstory lore in it being a big reference to the Animatrix lore film; that has especially always stuck with me, even to this day as something I remember very fondly.

I always interpreted Numbuh 1 joining the Galactic KND as him and his family moving away from home and leaving all his friends behind. That’s one thing I’ve always loved about this show even as an adult, how it isn’t just a mindless kids show. You can watch it from an adult’s perspective and still enjoy it because it’s a bunch of kids using their imaginations to run rampant and have the time of their lives, all while the adults in the show play along.

I love the ending of Interviews because it shows that they’re all still Kids Next Door Operatives. They were never decommissioned. Which I think is one of the main lessons of KND. The series shows you that there’s something truly special about being a kid and depicts growing up as something horrible but inevitable. I remember thinking similarly as a child. It seemed like that was my life. That's how it was going to be forever. I was such an imaginative, play pretend, go on make believe adventures, video games. I did have a pretty dang good childhood. Seemed nearly perfect looking back on it as a 28 yr old adult. As kids our concept of time, age, futures, change. We don't really understand it. It seems like we sort of forget after a certain age that almost nostalgic, freeing, pure, ambition we had as children. How time seemed to move so much slower and we didn't really know what it meant. As an adult, and well 2 decades after being a ''child'' I still sometimes have those moments where I'll have a flashback of an old neighborhood I used to live in, the friends I had living around me, the games and imagination adventures we used to go on all the time. The days of just sitting on the floor and playing video games with my brother, or just a beautiful memory about that time in my life. It creates such a bittersweet feeling. Cause on one hand, I do love remembering those times, those more innocent, simpler, carefree times. But also knowing I may never feel that way again because of all the things all the life I have went through since then. I have definitely changed, some for the worse, some for the better. But there will always, I feel be that inner child who has never really grown up wishing for a better life, more innocent times, that part of me that makes me forget I am closer to 30 than I'll ever be a teenager again.

honestly creators should have an iron clad clause in their contracts that if an IP isnt used in say 5 years, then the rights revert to the original creator so many shows are stuck in limbo, teasing sequels that never came, or cancelled in the middle etc etc and so much could be done with them if they werent figuratively sitting in some company's vault gathering dust

That idea might cause more issues. As a studio you could game the contract by just rushing out a low effort reboot every five years (or mobile game/live action adaptation etc.), so now the creator gets to witness their IP become associated with crap, and the IP is still figuratively stuck in limbo.

The catch is that they force all other kids to watch them eat it and don't share a single slice. Because of this the knd always destroys or steals their cake first.

Out of all the summaries I've seen, clips and "Best Of"'s watched, none of them hit me like this one did. I didn't realize just how much this show impacted my late childhood, and your intermission snippets really caught me off guard. I had completely forgotten about them. I didn't have the best childhood, but watching shows like KND brought me joy, and it's a type of joy that I truly miss.

This ending was the first time I had experienced a show that I followed and loved actually having a "series finale." Up until then for me, cartoon shows just abruptly had a last episode, never aired a new one, and I wouldn't know for a long time that they ended, usually until I internet-searched it. Majority being episodic shows, this was just the norm. But after excitedly getting wrapped up in the story arc in KND's last season, I vividly remember commercials going "prepare for the mission to end all missions" and felt this was WAY different than how I was used to shows ending, thinking: 'hold up, shows can just naturally conclude..... on purpose 🤯!?' It's one of the greatest wrap-ups to a show ever, and it was my first, so it always means a lot to me (still praying G:KND makes it into reality 🙏🏿). Incidentally, from then on I became way more hyper-aware of the difference between cancelations and series finales. Avatar: TLA happened to have a huge one later in that same year's summer 👀.

I'm still waiting and hoping for the GKND. I remember seeing that website with the hidden database and going on my school computer doing that. When I heard what was supposed to happen but didn't I felt betrayed because cartoon network can easily make a great show with this series... instead they focus on the other newer shows and they just refuse to do anything about it. It sucks because I am still hopeful for the GKND to happen on hbomax one day

While I do think it's rather disappointing that the show ended without it's sequel being able to get off the ground, I also believe that it ending the way it did with it's future teased, but not shown in a sequel, does help to hammer home one of the shows biggest messages and themes. Keep that childlike wonder and imagination going strong, even into adulthood.

KND was one of the best shows cartoon network ever had, I loved the charets humor actions and drama that went into it, the last episode was a strange one and its such a shame the spin off never happened. I know there was teaser for it somewhere on the internet and while I’m a little worried that number one seems to be a villain, that easily could have been misleading or played for drama, like he appeared to be going with the Galactic KND plans but turns at the last second or something, but the only way we would have found out is if it was made but Cartoon Network in their infinite wisdom decided to not do that.

@@bnha From what I heard Cartoon network got fully acquired by warner bros, which also means cartoon network can't support and or make shows anymore, it is now completely under warner bros. jurisdiction. There's a really good chance that alot of cartoons are getting cancelled and discontinued, it's even worse when recently before that Warner bros nuked alot of cartoons out of their streaming platform, aka they do not exist anymore (I believe it is the same company and from what I heard off of twitter). But all in all the situation on cartoons in general is very dire, It also goes to show that cartoon network is really suffering from the decisions they been making these past few years.

Would an interstellar setting work? Part of the charm of the series was seeing the mundane world kids lived in re-imagined as this unique battlegrounds between kids and their worst enemies. So in an intergalactic setting… it would be the same except lose that connection to the ordinary world. So it’s just a sci-fi adventure but with kids. Well written, I would assume, but would it carry the same magic to it?
@Kickiusz2 жыл бұрын
I mean, it could be set on many different planets, all with technology on a level similiar to Earth's. So basically same old same old, but some people would have green skin or a third eye and they'd all have weirdly shaped buildings, because as we all know, sci-fi civilisations hate cubes for their ergonomy and simplicity.
@De-eggs2 жыл бұрын
Whenever people talk about media getting sequels or additional seasons this is exactly what I think about. Given what I understand to be the themes of the show, I really don't think it would have worked out. What would a galactic setting do to further the ideas explored in the show? When that show ends, does numbah 1 team get recruited for Universal Kids Next Door? A premise can only grow so far before it begins to undermine it's own foundations and a big challenge for creators and fans in to appreciate when you're approaching those limits. Better it ends well with bits of idea fodder the community can turn into fanworks than for it to get stretched out and lose the interest and care of it's audience.

@jardex22752 жыл бұрын
At the end of the day, I don't believe any sequel or reboot is going to carry the same magic as the original. Even if they absolutely nail the production, the audience has grown up and changed. I think the series could still work. If they're focusing on a stop the G:KND story, then they could focus on some earth based stories that have some hints and teasers about an alien invasion. About midway through the season, the aliens take more direct attacks, with the KND fighting back. Meanwhile, most of the adults are completely oblivious or dismissive of the signs. If they focus on the G:KND, then they can tell a different kind of story. Maybe have a team on a spaceship that travels between different planets. Each week would give a different setting, secondary cast, and problem to solve. Meanwhile, we'd see the day to day life between the crew members.

I would love if GKND was about how growing up isn’t actually a bad thing as long as you remain a kid at heart. That all the things the KND stated about adulthood was just overblown bias from an extremist organization that saw getting old as a disease that needed to be cured or purged. Cause the show really did make it seem like adulthood was the worst parts of your life. And maybe in some ways that’s true and I get that’s the point seeing as it’s from a kids perspective but still looking back it feels like the next logical route to take the series especially since all the people who grew up with the show are adults now.

Love this show. So much nostalgia for me. It shaped the way I am now. KND had the missions on a terminal with sounds and the badass computer commands. The matrix had the green/black aesthetic. Now I'm a programmer. I write cool commands that make things happen. My text editor uses the same color scheme as in The Matrix. Usually the text editor cursor is skinny but I changed it so it takes up a whole character width just like in the KND terminals. When I sit down and type I feel empowered to let my imagination roll thanks to that work environment. I feel that anything is possible just like those kids building things and fighting evil. It's a really nice way to honor my childhood and the show.
