Thanks Josh! I find the 16 mm a range that I rarely reach out for, so the 20-60 is adequate for most of my wide angle needs. However the 16-28 does seem fantastic and it's definitely on top of my list for any projects that would require a 16-20 mm range.

Went for the Sigma 14-24mm + 24-70mm ART combo for less compromises on FF. 2mm more on the wide side is a lot. You can only use internal filters in the 14-24mm though. When I think they'd be too heavy I can always either go with the quite good 20-60mm kit lens or switch to MFT instead..

@ChrisGoesOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Josh, I use the sigma 16-28 and bought a step down ring from 72 to 67 and use a 67mm 2-5 stop freewell variable nd on the lens. Only see a hint of vignette when I go full onto the 5th step of the filter. If I go 2 to 4.5 stops I have not noticed any issue. May be worth trying out a step down ring if you have a 67mm filter set

Gosh these two are a tempting little pair! I've also been finding that with wider focal lengths the IBIS can go a bit bonkers - I've been disabling IBIS on stuff below 30mm generally - wider focal lengths tend to be more forgiving with shake anyway.
@JoshCameron Жыл бұрын
Yeah it gets a bit hairy doesn't it! 😂 Most of the time I tend to leave IBIS on, but then at times like this I realise why it can sometimes be useful to turn it off! Great little pairing though, can have a full lens kit for both photo and video for just £1600 if you buy the two together!

For vlogging I wish we had something like the Tamron 20-40mm f2.8 for Sony. I like the 20-60mm kit lens but there’s instance where the 5.6 is to dark. Maybe if they made a constant f4 version of it. It seems that many L-Mount Sigma lenses are crippled with stair-stepping apertures. In auto aperture in video, they open and close and "clunk" on 1/3 stops as the move. On Sony cameras, they do NOT do this. It seems that only Panasonic branded lenses are allowed smooth ramping apertures. Does this lens stair-step its aperture as it opens and closes in video?

How does this lens compare to the EF 16-35mm f2.8? I know you've adapted to EF on the S5ii with the Sigma MC-21 so you're one of the few people who might be able to compare! The extra range of the EF 16-35mm is really enticing, but I'm concerned about image quality and autofocus, as well as balancing/weight with the adapter at the end! I shoot 4k 60fps for sports in really tight environments, but also want to use the same lens for medium shots, so with the 1.5X crop, it would end up being 28-52mm which would be great!

a circular polarizer can't be used in conjunction with a variable ND filter.....Variable NDs work by overlaying 2 cpl, adding a 3rd to the mix wouldn't achieve any desirable effects whatsoever.
